81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] The First Litecoin PPS Pool (litecoinpool.org) on: March 06, 2018, 04:19:58 AM
Hi all - fairly new to the hobby. I've got only three GAW fury miners at 1.44 MHz/s is the Gridseed faster than these? From what I've read, I thought that they're only good for litecoin mining and are 300KH/s. I also read that they're 8GH/s. So, not really sure??

So, if that's the case, then what is the next (reasonable) step up from this - I'm looking for something inexpensive, and no don't suggest an ANT miner. I'm not forking out or even considering something that's $2k.

Thanks
 Grin

If you're looking for something small and affordable... but more powerful than the Gridseed might I suggest the Bitmain Antrouter R1-LTC. It's 1.2 MH/s

I've got a small bank of these running on various altcoins (and some are running on THIS pool) and they're stable as crap.

I`m going to save a bunch of time for anyone looking for co-location for your miners.

Heres the break down so far after reading comments on this thread outside from rektmining issues with locations and build out for the existing customers who sent their miners.

To anyone who is looking this is what you will face as of 2018-March-03.

1. Existing locations on the main page no longer have space within their current existing wait list minimum of 1 year wait time.

You face 2 options - you mine yourself buying a industrial breaker and hire a electrician or wait it out on the wait list.

Basically since theres not enough legit reputable hosting locations its hard af to mine.

Pretty much dead-on state of the union there... if you can't mine at home, or setup your own commercial space, it's rough.

I'm hoping I can contribute to the hosting space soon enough. Updates on a separate thread if you're interested in following my progress.

83  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Does anyone mine directly to BitPay Wallet (for Card loading) on: March 05, 2018, 07:02:34 AM
Just curious if any miners are currently mining directly to a BitPay wallet for loading onto the BitPay Visa card?
84  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: March 05, 2018, 06:30:37 AM

ahh - I may have missed that. Appreciate the feedback. Clearly this is more of a fun, and slightly out of control hobby. Have racks of S9's and L3's running off my solar system. But really do enjoy the challenge of seeing how many 2Pacs I can get running. Makes sense if it's the last gen chip. Given I blow through about 30,000 KWhr a month it's not really a big deal but just couldn't figure out why the huge difference. Thanks again!

Definitely more of a hobby device... but I've had my 2Pacs mining to a paper wallet that's my "rainy day" BTC stash... so perhaps they have some utility beyond a particular efficiency or profitability. If we see the BTC $100k days some people see coming... these little boogers did more than any current probability calculator ever said they could. Smiley

Mac Wallet and I'm in guys... happy to mine away on this for awhile and provide an additional node by having the wallet open. But without Mac wallet, I'm out.

Keep me posted.

86  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: March 05, 2018, 05:46:32 AM
Doing some back of the envelope math. I have 12 2Pacs putting out about 250ghz. So, assuming they are pulling about 100W (8ish Watts each) that works about to be about 0.4 W/ghx. A Antminer S9, assuming 13.7thx and 1400 W works out to be 0.1W/ghz. Welcome to have my math checked but really surprised the efficiency difference is this large. Granted they don't sound like a jet engine is taking off from your guest room, but a 4x efficiency differential seems odd given they are essentially the same chip.

and yes - I understand they are different and serving different purposes. Not interested in a religious war. Just from a pure electrical engineering perspective interested into insights as to why the efficiency would be so different.

One obvious reason might be that the 2Pac sticks don't use the same Bitmain chip as the S9. I believe the 2Pacs are built on the previous gen. Bitmain chip, thus previous gen. efficiency.

At least that's my understanding.

New Mac wallet installed. Thanks.

As an aside... I mined a bit at iSpace before moving over to LuckyAltCoin for this (and then stopped when you mentioned the attack.) I had 17 coins that iSpace says has been sent, but I'm not seeing it in my wallet after 36 hours. Thoughts?

Not sure what all the angst is here. I have my minimum payout set at .03 LTC and typically get two payments per day, depending on how long my bigger machines are connected (I break them away for altcoin work throughout the day).

I believe someone already did that and figured its at block 1,000,000 but I haven’t reviewed myself.

I don’t know the ins and outs of an effective revival or takeover but if we can band 5-6 of us together and make some plans, I’m down to talk.

Miner recieved and hashing away happily.

Thanx again for free gift Smiley

Coolest thing I’ve seen on this forum since I joined last year. Congrats, dude. That’s awesome!

bump

They’re now cheaper at Bitmain for 2, not considering that everyone has coupons also.
92  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Possible New DFW Hosting Spot on: March 04, 2018, 07:11:02 AM
Hey gang...

...not much to report here, but here's the latest:

We're involved in conversations with 3 new locations in the DFW area now, and honing in on the best option. There's a sort of ironic list of pros and cons to each location that we're sorting through.

One location has immediate ample power, but is a bit more expensive than we'd hoped for. One is VERY cheap and has air conditioning that's metered separately from the rest of the unit's power, but its small and would only accommodate about 200 miners before we'd be "landlocked" and have to find a secondary location. The third one is fairly priced, fairly sized, but has some power issues we need to work out. There's only about 120 amps of 220v power onsite, and the nearest transformer is down the block at least 900 ft. Upgrade costs are likely to be spendy.

I'm pushing my projected timeline back about a month from April-June to May-July now.

Once we've signed the lease, we'll move pretty quickly to get up and running... but I won't rush this part. It's important to my crew that the we score the right location, even if it takes another month or two.

As usual, I'll keep you posted.
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] LiteGoldCoin(LGC) POW 2018 on: March 04, 2018, 06:51:49 AM

You ignored my last email. This coin feels like a scam.

what mail?

i don't understand what you mean.

if you have any thing to ask or help send message to litegoldcoin@gmail.com

I asked you in email what is the max possible supply of this coin. You emailed me back and said that "as far as I know" there is no such thing as a maximum supply and that if I was smarter about Blockchain technology, I'd know better. Which was a cute insult, but I ignored it. I wrote back and said that I know plenty... and gave you the example of how Litecoin has a max supply of 84 Million coins, and I once again asked what is the max supply of THIS coin. To which you never bothered to write back.

I apologize that I haven't gone digging into source code myself... but since you're the one who's running this show, I thought I'd ask you.

So I'll ask again... what's the max supply of LiteGoldCoin?
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] - Coppercoin - [COPPER] - Hybrid Cryptocoin PoW + PoS on: March 04, 2018, 04:44:51 AM
Yes, This project looks abandoned. There is nothing alive any more. I tried to send mail to contact also but no answer.

The only known contact is the Coppercoin user here and he/she is relatively silent. I’ve asked on multiple occasions how to help the community.

Pardon my ignorance. What’s a KMW?
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] The First Litecoin PPS Pool (litecoinpool.org) on: March 03, 2018, 08:35:48 AM
Popping in to say thank you. Been using this pool since September and very impressed and thankful. Super reliable, extremely flexible, and trustworthy.

I have an array of things going, from a pair of L3+ units, a hive full of R1-LTC units, a chunk of Moonlander 2’s and even a CPU program... all easily attached to my account, and all chugging away quite nicely.

Many thanks to pooler and team.
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BitcoinFast revival - on: March 01, 2018, 05:31:39 PM

bottlecaps did something similar. it put a cap on staked rewards of 1000 - it didn't matter how many you staked, max you could get was 1000.
both are something to think about.

Not sure I like either concept. I think if someone is going to have gone through whatever combination of investment or mining work to accumulate a large holding, they shouldn’t be penalized for it. If the idea behind staking is to incentivize holding of the coins longer-term, limiting the staking seems to also then limit that goal.

I agree that strong concentration of ownership is probably bad short term, but if an ecosystem can develop and people have multiple use cases, and other options that involve spending/transferring coins around, then eventually you’d see that concentration move downwards some. I suppose, too, though, that every coin will have it’s few whales.

It seems like Rekt mining is giving us a headache.

Sounds more like a complete failure by the day. Now his space has been torn down and he’s moving? Already? So he moved into a space he couldn’t Setup? Or couldn’t afford? Or?

How many tens of thousand of dollars in customer hardware is just sitting on his floor? Does he even have insurance? Scary.
