1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer B3 Miner on: July 18, 2018, 01:48:43 AM
Sure, but that's not what he/she suggested. The original post said unplug and wait until it has "its moment". Which mathematically makes no sense if you are sure that moment is coming (unless, again, you are selling daily).

If the miner is losing money then it makes sense to unplug it and use the money to buy coins instead. By mining at a loss and holding you're essentially buying coins above market price.

Ok, two things here:

!) what money? The electricity? Because if you sell the miner you have a limited amount of funds to buy coins, and no ability to mine them later. If you keep the miner to mine the coin later, then turning it off now makes no sense unless you aren't sure it will be profitable later.

2) I don't think you understand. If you mine 1 coin at a loss right now, and later that coin triples, if you held it you actually mined it at a profit, not a loss (plus your actual earnings, in the altcoin, will be higher now, since the difficulty will increase/rewards will decrease). It's only mined at a loss if you sell it before it gains value. So if you TRULY BELIEVE that a coin will eventually grow in value, turning off a miner makes little sense.

If it costs me $0.50 to mine one Bytom that currently trades at $0.40 it would be quite stupid to continue mining. I could just take the $0.50 and buy 1.25 Bytom instead.

Whether to sell the miner or not - that's a different scenario. If you really think that it will be very profitable to mine with it at some point in the future then perhaps it makes sense to switch it off and keep it for a while. However seeing that GPUs are much more efficient it's very unlikely that you would ever be able to mine more Bytom than you could buy right now with the proceeds of selling the miner. If Bytom moons, difficulty will moon too.

In any case, mining at a loss doesn't make sense. Don't do that kids.

In theory what you want is for the whole crypto market to go up, but for other coins that can be mined with GPUs to go up more.  If GPU miners can make more with other coins, they will switch.

We should do class action against bitmain, they scammed us, not telling us that poor rigs can beat up our ASICs.

My almost two year old laptop GTX 1070 is making 750 H/s at 115W ... for a week now.
3x 1060 3gb in a not so optimized rig make 1000+ H/s at 360W for less than half of what i paid for the Antminer B3 (1060 can achieve 500+ H/s)
I expected more from Bitmain...

How many BTM per day are you getting for each?  Earlier people with GPUs were reporting similar hashrates to the B3 but lower payouts due to more rejected shares.

what do you guys think, this PSU can run B3 Antminer?

https://www.amazon.de/Bitcoin-Antminer-stromversorgung-APW3-schnell/dp/B0733JRFVL/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1527766373&sr=8-1&keywords=apw3&dpID=51fi8MIRh2L&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

mine was returned back to China, so I want to buy something from amazon

who can recommend something?

this is terrible when you have antminer but you cant plugin

I got this one and it's been working fine so far.  They also shipped me two of them for some reason.

Hi guys, so far my B3 can only mining less than 18 BTM Per day.
It's definately not match with what bitmain sales told us before.
Even the 1050 ti GPU miner has the same hash rate, but the GPU miner price is much lower than B3.
These information was unrevealed during the sales.
B3 customers in China complain about this issue and try to negotiate with the management of bitmain to see if we can have an additional refund.
Let's fight together,  submit your complaints at bitmain website, thanks

Do you have any evidence that a 1050 ti GPU has the same hashrate as a B3?  Because that is completely different than what everyone else is reporting.  Also, hashrate isn't the only thing that matters here.  People on the discord were reporting that equal hashrate on GPUs yield a lot less BTM, meaning they have lots of rejected shares.  Someone reported that their $4,500 GPU rig was making half of what one B3 makes while using a lot more power.  Also, Bitmain didn't make any promises on what returns people would make.  They never do that for any miner.  Sure, it sucks we aren't making $100 a day like some people expected, but Bitmain never made that promise.  Even as it is, these miners are making more per day than most miners out there, including every Bitmain miner besides the X3.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer B3 Miner on: May 18, 2018, 10:03:27 PM
I think people need to wait before just looking at the hashrate of GPUs and jumping to conclusions.  GPUs are reporting similar hashrates but are getting paid way less.

Edit:  Someone on the discord said they were mining with a $4,500 rig using 1000W to make half as much BTM per day as a B3 running at 328W.

You only get paid for accepted shares...

While I don't have a GPU to check, I would assume this means their reject rates are much higher for whatever reason.  You see people posting about the reported hashrate without taking into account how many shares are being rejected.

Does anyone have some insight into batch 3 date for the B3's?  I would hope bitmain would at least let us mine batch 1 and 2 for one week before they drop the earnings to $7....

I checked my payment history and its in paying status BUT.... its showing a different address than i provided and my originally provided address is deleted...  can anyone tell me if I should be nervous...??

I have the same situation. My wallet address is empty now under my settings.

My guess, since the ERC20 comment is gone too, is that they switched to BTM payments and deleted any non-bm addresses? Not sure; it also reset the minimum payment to 5, but still isn't paying out for me, so I have no idea what's going on there...

According to their announcement, they deleted all addresses since some people put in ethereum addresses for exchanges which stopped accepting the ERC20 tokens.  They say they will pay out to either ERC20 to mainnet addresses starting at 3 am Eastern Time May 18th.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Need Power Supply for Bitmain B3 (7 PCIe connectors and 328W) on: May 14, 2018, 01:44:49 AM
Just to update people, I bought the 750W HP power supply from parallel miner, and they ended up shipping me two for the price of one which was kinda nice.  So far it has been working well with the B3.  The breakout board was very difficult to attach to the PSU though.  I had to push so hard I thought it was going to break.

Looks like this is a good earner, but question remains. Has Antpool actually paid you guys out yet?

Nope...
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer B3 Miner on: May 09, 2018, 03:36:59 AM
Saw something that doesn’t match bitmain’s story about the amount of B3’s they sold in Bstch 1
http://miningpoolstats.stream/bytom

It’s on 7700 clients now while a few (including me) still need to receive their Batch 1 B3.

I'm not sure how they calculate the number of clients, but could that include people trying to mine with GPUs and CPUs?  CPUs are probably pointless, but people are saying on the discord that while GPUs are less efficient, they aren't useless, although they get a larger share of rejected shares.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer B3 Miner on: May 08, 2018, 03:17:05 AM
If you use antpool, now you must use ERC20 token address(Not bytom main net address).

What do you mean by that?

There's currently two kinds of Bytom.  There's the old ERC20 token, and there is the main net Bytom which only came out like a week ago.  Everything will eventually get moved to the main net, but right now all the exchanges that list Bytom still use the ERC20 token, so if you want to exchange any you need to mine with Antpool until some exchanges switch over to the main net.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer B3 Miner on: May 06, 2018, 10:44:04 PM

I had that thought also but let's look at the facts:

1.) 70% of Bytom are already in circulation. 987,000,000

2.) There are less than 1,000,000 new Bytom mined daily

3.) In the last 24 hours roughly $75 million worth of Bytom exchanged on different exchanges (coinmarketcap.com)

4.) Price is already down 20% in just a couple of days BTM/USD, down 50% BTM/ETH

My opinion is that if everyone goes to market at the same time on the same exchange with 100% of rewards when an exchange begins accepting BTM, yes the price will drop. But I don't believe that will happen. I also think a lot of the price adjustment is already baked in. We've had a huge run over the last week in nearly all crypto yet BTM is down significantly.

Also, this is Bitmain's baby. Do you think a multibillion dollar company is going to let their technology fail? It wouldn't surprise me if they bought more at a lower price much like an underwriter buying stock at an IPO to hold up the price.

Or I could be completely wrong and this is a $0.20 shitcoin this time next week. In which case I will only have made $40/day instead of $240 Wink

Actually, I was reading the Bytom discord, and people are saying that Antpool is paying out with the ERC20 token that all the exchanges that list Bytom are using.  So if this is the case, at least some people are already exchanging their BTM.  That would explain the drop in price over the last few days.

Still though, while 1 million BTM per day seems like a drop in the bucket compared to the market cap, the market caps of these small coins are misleading.  Liquidity is low for something like Bytom, so it doesn't take too many people selling to tank the price.  Still though, like you said, the earnings are so high now that even if it crashes it should still be worth it.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer B3 Miner on: May 06, 2018, 08:12:37 PM
I hope the miners that were complaining about the 2nd batch release (so soon and so cheap) come back and read this feed. This is the reason Bitmain had every right to release a second batch this soon and for a lower price. When the miners are making $300/day and have a 7 day head start on the the 2nd batch Bitmain can do whatever the hell they want as far as I'm concerned. Good on you Bitmain, thank you. Quite frankly, I can't believe Bitmain offered the refund. I've never seen a product released that will almost certainly ROI in less than 2 weeks.

Agree but how to ROI? I cant find a way to send the BTM from Offcial Bytom Wallet to any Exchange. I get this error "<action index 1: unknown address type>" when I try to do a transaction from the Wallet.

Any idea how to exchange?

The exchanges are using ERC20. Mining rewards go directly to Bytom. Hopefully the exchanges will accept Bytom soon.

This has me kind of worried.  Once an exchange gets it up and running, everyone is going to sell all at once and crash the price.

Anyone one else from batch 1 still waiting for shipping confirmation?  It seems like people are getting them tomorrow and mine hasn't even left the warehouse yet...

Check your payment confirmation date. For some reason, Bitmain has mine as being made almost three days after I received payment confirmation!

Just checked, and mine is the same way, three days later, even thought I got the email right away.  Are you still waiting for your order to ship as well?  Idk if this is an issue or if it's just some glitch that happens to everyone.

Yes, still waiting for mine to ship.

I opened a ticket because my order shows that it was paid three days after I got email confirmation that my LTC had cleared. They said that sometimes, the status change from "Awaiting Payment" to "Paid" is a manual process and basically told me to pound sand until it ships because they are in a different city than the warehouse and can't do anything. But there are other people on Discord who say that they ordered on 4/27 and paid at 1pm (4/28 confirmation payment for China's time) and their order will be delivered tomorrow.

I just chatted with them asking if there was some issue with my order because of the payment discrepancy, and they just said that the shipping period goes to the 10th, and that if it hasn't shipped by the 11th to contact them again.  My order says paid rather than expired though like it would have it they really didn't get paid for 3 days, so I think they are just slow in the shipping department.

On the bright side though, they changed my order price to $1875 without me even asking though, so I assume I'm getting a refund.  Since they changed the price of the order on their own, I'll hold off submitting a ticket for it for a few days to see if they send instructions on their own.

Edit:  Also, I paid in LTC, and I realize you did as well.  I wonder if this is their passive aggressive way of dicking people over who didn't pay in BCH...

Ugh, ordered batch 1 with DHL to the US and it hasn't shipped yet.  Hopefully it goes out overnight tonight while it's the workday in China.

You don't think they have resellers that buy from them in bulk? Official or not, those relationships most likely exist. That's just good business.

Yeah, I'm sure if you emailed them and said you wanted to buy like 2000 miners ASAP, they would be happy to work with you.  The guy is right that there are no official resellers, but pretty much any business out there offers bulk discounts, especially when they aren't selling out their current stock.

This reeks of a Ponzi scheme mixed with a sketchy ICO.  If they had such a miner, they would be selling it for thousands of dollars and be selling out.  But instead you have to buy their token and use the token to pay them to mine for you?  No thanks...

Has anyone received a shipped notification?  Seems strange they'd say May 1-10 instead of 2-10 with Chinese labor day.

I have not received a shipped notification.  However, I wouldn't read to much into it.  Bitmain generally posts rounded off date ranges that don't take into account weekends and holidays.  I wouldn't worry about it until we get to the 10th.  As long as they ship at the same time we're all in the same boat and not missing out.
