New code released with lock at block 8064. Please update your clients to protect against attacks!

Windows client: https://github.com/downloads/coblee/litecoin/litecoin-windows-client-40103.zip

Daemon coming soon!

any chance the next client can have an auto-update capability?

pools are great for constant returns,  but it feels so nice to get whole blocks. I'm mining on 3 threads at 1kh/s and my third block took 5 hours, 4th took 17minutes, gotta love probability.
ok, I'll give it a try. But I need to make sure: I am using external minerd.exe so should I uncomment gen=1 in litecoin.conf or not ?

here is my working litecoin.conf i also use minerd with the supplied .bat
testnet=0
server=1
rpcuser=miner
rpcpassword=litecoin

block_nTime=1317972665
block_nNonce=2084524493

#Uncomment this if you want to have the client mine for you.
#gen=0

#Change this if you want to use a different rpc port for mining
#rpcport=9332

#Only uncomment this if you are running litecoind (not Litecoin QT)
#daemon=1

I've been mining for a couple of hours on my i5 with 2 threads 1,5-1,7 khash/sec each and still nothing...
Give us the pool !!!

That said, +1, a pool is going to be needed very soon.

1 decimal place?  Grin
I've changed my mind... I'll wait until the exchange comes up.  People here are way too bullish for me to sell it this quickly.  In fact, I might just hold it for a few months.

talking of which, is there going to be new exchange or are we looking at implementation into an existing one?

9 hours at ~1kh/s on three threads, only got 2 blocks and one orphan. is this normal or do I need to tweak my settings?

win7 on an intel quad@ 2.5ghz/core

You probably got a little unlucky there.

so no need for arguments on this?

minerd.exe --algo scrypt --s 6 --threads 3 --url http://127.0.0.1:9332 --userpass miner:litecoin

172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Be ready when is launches! on: October 12, 2011, 02:03:14 PM
I don't think there is any superiority or inferiority, it is not comparing apples to apples, namecoin has a specific function for nameservers but litecoin should be more akin to bitcoin etc except that it is based on CPU mining rather than bitcoin which is trending towards GPUs.

Fair enough, I guess I didn't express myself very well. Anyway, I went and add a deeper look and answered my questions, thanks anyway

i realise this might not be the best place to ask, but I'm not quite clear on the superiority of litecoin vs namecoin, any chance you guys might enlighten me?

176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Be ready when is launches! on: October 12, 2011, 10:53:13 AM
is there any chance of implementation within the btc-e exchange?

178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When should Litecoin be launched? on: October 11, 2011, 05:20:59 PM
Quick question, when the launch does happen, will we need to do any config changes in order to mine? Apart from setting testnet=0 of course

If my post helped, I'll happily accept a few bitmills!   15rGg6A1JFZV3b7TTbtpAaiYGdUD1e1oAm

it did thanks.

just to be clear, any coins mined from testnet are in a way worthless, yes?
Yes, they are only meant to get you setup and prepared for mainnet, or if you're developing an application and don't want to risk real Litecoins while testing.

thanks guys
