To them, speaking english is almost a dishonor...
Is Michio Kaku Japanese? He speaks English almost too well.

Um, he said 'trusted'.
Why don't you trust MyBitcoin? I have used them for a while and they've been fine, most of my BTC is also held by them. They also offer a great payment gateway for merchants.
1463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you held in your hands some actual euros and dollars as a result of mining? on: July 04, 2011, 09:18:26 AM
As far as I know you can buy hardware directly with BTC. Who needs fiat money then?
It may be so, but my first investment would be fiat money and I expect to get those fiat money back eventually.
Why would you think this is not possible? If you have mined some Bitcoins, then what is stopping you from using an exchange like Mt. Gox to get USD or something other currency? I'm sure hundreds (perhaps thousands) of people have earnt "real" money from mining Bitcoins.

That's what I want to know, that these hundreds, or thousands of people really held the money earned from mining in their hands, that's all. I would like to hear at least a few of those people mentioning that yes, they have real money.
Lets put it this way then: I mined about half a Bitcoin a while ago. That proved to me mining works. More recently I have used the VirWoX exchange (since I can use PayPal to get funds into my account) to buy and sell Bitcoins. That proved to me Bitcoin exchanges can be legit. All you have to do now is put the two things together and you'll have actual dollars.

1465  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Currency Symbol ฿ on: July 04, 2011, 08:51:50 AM
Yes, but whenever I've seen prices quoted in Australian Dollars it has been "A$" or "AUD$".

I like the ฿ too, but I feel it would be best to differentiate it from another currency.
Everything on the internet is usually just labelled with dollar sign, whether USD or AUD. In a lot of cases you have to check if the website is American or Australian in order to work out if their prices are in USD or AUD. You probably use mostly only American websites, and if they were selling something in AU dollars it would probably be labelled to make that clear. If a website was using the ฿ symbol for Bitcoin, and it wasn't clear enough for visitors (which I'm sure would be very unlikely), then I see no reason they couldn't just use BTC฿ or something like you said.
1466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Currency Symbol ฿ on: July 04, 2011, 08:33:14 AM
Stop making this more confusing than it has to be. Every currency should have a 3 letter code.

General consensus has determined that the 3 letter currency code is: BTC

There is less consensus on the symbol. But the most common usage is: ฿

I would stick with those two choices as to avoid confusion and force everyone to start using the same thing.

I agree with you on BTC, but the baht symbol is already taken as a currency symbol.
Both the USD and AUD dollar use $ but they are completely different currencies. A B with a vertical line through it really does seem appropriate imo.

Also the project really isn't a success. A lot of progress still has to be made. Security is still an issue along with sites still growing. Anyone ever even talk to him? I'm not saying he isn't real I'm just putting this out there.
Security is an issue with 3rd party sites still growing. You're confusing Bitcoin and 3rd parties that take advantage of Bitcoin.

PS - Satoshi is an alien. Everyone knows that.
1470  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin for adult DVDs on: July 03, 2011, 11:40:21 AM
I will sell your videos on wetcoin.co.cc for a cut of the return. I can organize everything on the technical end. All you need to do is supply the videos. Contact me by PM if interested.
1471  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: is mybitcoin.com broken or hacked (July 3rd 2011) on: July 03, 2011, 11:29:38 AM
I'll repeat what I said on the other thread here: I can't log into any of my accounts at MyBitcoin. I thought I had been hacked at first. But then I made a new account just to be sure. And I couldn't log in with that either. So they are preventing logins, yet the the message is saying invalid password/username. I'm a little bit less worried now, as they could just be doing some sort of of upgrade. Lets just hope it's not something much worse. Most of my coins are in MyBitcoin
1472  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How long does MyBitcoin take for deposits? on: July 03, 2011, 11:27:29 AM
Freaking crap. I can't log into any of my accounts at MyBitcoin. I thought I had been hacked at first. But then I made a new account just to be sure. And I couldn't log in with that either. 1473  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Own a Bitcoin related website? List it at bitfreak for free. on: July 03, 2011, 07:41:04 AM
This is damn ridiculous. Google has decided to remove my website from their search results for god knows what reasons. Possibly because bitfreak, bitscape and wetcoin are all interlinking, or something like that.  Undecided I'm working on it now.

EDIT: Well this freaking explains it... Google Wipes Out Any Site On CO.CC

Way to go Google...
1474  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Own a Bitcoin related website? List it at bitfreak for free. on: July 03, 2011, 05:37:56 AM
Cool. I submitted my site Smiley
That's odd. It didn't show up in the database. All my tests seem to work fine. Did you get the green confirmation text saying it was successfully submitted? Do you want me to manually submit it?

Scratch that. I worked out the problem. I'll confirm your website shortly.  Smiley

EDIT: Is BitCoinBoom a scam? I think I remember reading it was a scam.
1475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Own a Bitcoin related website? List it at bifreak for free. on: July 03, 2011, 05:11:22 AM
Ahaha. Oh snap. I should leave the title like that, this thread has had more views than any of my others. You people disgust me.  Grin

PS - I added BitBrew, that's a pretty awesome website.
1476  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Own a Bitcoin related website? List it at bifreak for free. on: July 03, 2011, 05:00:50 AM
Hmmm...do you guys think I should allow gambling websites? How legal are they?
Nyeh...I'll allow them for now, until i get more clarification on the issue.
1477  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Own a Bitcoin related website? List it at bifreak for free. on: July 03, 2011, 04:48:31 AM
Also no websites that are still under construction.

Like bitfun?
lol. Give me a break. It's not in the directory. I've got a lot of different projects going. That's on the back-burner waiting for some creativity to hit me. Any ideas?
1478  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Own a Bitcoin related website? List it at bifreak for free. on: July 03, 2011, 04:44:15 AM

What if you are?  Shocked

Also no websites that are still under construction. And don't post it more than one time in separate categories. Do you spammers really expect me to accept your website when you do that?
1480  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Own a Bitcoin related website? List it at bitfreak for free. on: July 03, 2011, 03:33:59 AM
I have just set up a little bitcoin site directory as a new section of bitfreak. If you have a bitcoin related website just fill out the submission form and you'll be on there in no time. The directory system was built from scratch so if you notice any bugs let me know, it also has a star rating system so make good use of it. I really helps when people can easily know which websites can be trusted and which shouldn't be trusted.

Bitfreak is essentially aiming to simplify many aspects of bitcoin, especially in understanding it and finding ways to use it. Even if you know of a good Bitcoin related website that isn't your own, you can still submit it so that we all have easy access to an up-to-date list of exchanges, eWallets, merchants etc. The site must be heavily related to Bitcoin, if it is not mainly centered around Bitcoin in some fashion it probably wont be listed. I would also appreciate link-backs to bitfreak. Link-sharing is caring!

EDIT: Oh, and make sure I haven't included your website already. I put in quite a few to get it started.

EDIT: We are now located at bitfreak.info since Google decided to filter out every single co.cc website from their search results. The link above has been altered to reflect this change.
