21  Local / Alt Coins (India) / Re: What is a Scrypt coin ? on: January 31, 2014, 03:49:24 AM

No Scrypt is the hashing algo used on altcoins.  diferent alt coins may use different hashing algo.

Litecoin , feathercoin and Dogecoin uses scrypt .

Bitcoin uses sha256

Bitcoin is SHA256d, that's applying SHA256 over the hash derived from another SHA256. It's a variant of plain SHA256. Similarly scrypt may also be vanilla or there are variants like scrypt-chacha (YBcoin)

Hello,
You can register on Unocoin.com and sell there at the ongoing selling rate.

You will need to submit pan and address proof for verification and only bank transfers are allowed though. cannot pay in cash or do direct deposit to your account.

i'm not really interested in handing over my id's which might then be passed on to the authorities, at least not until Bitcoin is out of the grey area and legitimized. The precise reason I never traded on buysellbitco.in despite it's lucrative price was because they won't accept a PAN card scan with a watermark.

Transacting and not showing it on your filing is a bigger wrong thing to do. Use the bank transfers - you will be more safer. You can submit water marked documents to us. I am sure buysellbitco.in were also accepting water marked documents - i have read it on their website. You can mark it as "FOR UNOCOIN.com VERIFICATION" and we still accept it.
I'm not misappropriating money, I pay my taxes and yes, I do use bank transfers. Just that I feel uneasy with sharing ID scans where it might land up with authorities and I get screwed of something as innocuous as a BTC trade!
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mixing HD 7950 with R9 280x on: January 30, 2014, 01:53:29 PM
You will need SGMiner 4.0.0.

CGMiner doesn't like mixing different -g 1 and -g 2 (gpu thread) cards in the same config.

That's what I was looking for. Thanks. I'll be running two 7950 and two R9280x on one system with xubuntu 12.04. Can't I run two instances of cgminer one handling 7950s and one with R9's?
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mixing HD 7950 with R9 280x on: January 30, 2014, 11:46:43 AM
I'm going to buy 2 R9 280x to add to my line up of HD 7950 for mining. What AMD drivers would be most appropriate?

Also I'm thinking about switching from Win 7 on a hard disk to either Xubuntu or SMOS 1.2. Are there any overclocking utilities for linux since the command line parameters for set vddc don't work?

27  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: [ANN]Buy/Sell Bitcoin fast, quick and secure with BitQuick.in! 1% buy, 0% sell on: January 28, 2014, 10:01:34 PM
Yep, +1 to them, they indeed are very prompt. Just traded .02 btc for testing it out and their system is really great
28  Local / Mining (India) / Re: Suggest me miners please on: January 27, 2014, 12:09:02 PM
Do NOT buy from Butterfly labs. You should read up on the sob stories from their buyers. With 15k you'll hardly get anything worthwhile. Either invest more on a litecoin rig or convert that cash into BTC and invest in one of the trusted Group Buys.
29  Local / India / Re: Lets categorize Ourself on: January 20, 2014, 07:56:21 PM
What are you? And how are you contributing to Bitcoin Infrastructure in India?

1. Trader (Opportunist)
2. Entrepreneur
3. Developer/Programmer
4. Miner
5. Investor (Stockpiling only)
6. Only proponent
7. Anti-Bitcoin (I'm alone. Tongue)

Option 8: Stripper Cheesy
Where's the like button Benson.
30  Local / Mining (India) / Re: Help me to Build a mining rig with my OLD PC! on: January 20, 2014, 07:51:52 PM
Of course the cards are under volted a healthy bit Cheesy

I thought so but had to confirm .. cause you never know .. have seem people pushing it to the limits and then there are those rigs on fire pics all over the forums lol.

Well some do...but most serious miners always undervolt. You gotta hit the sweet spot with power consumption. But some cards are just too stubborn to give good hashrates in normal circumstances. Only thing you can do is install a water bracket and overvolt.

2$ Grin
I canme to know about it around the same time but then dismissed BTC as just another internet scam. It was only several months and some research later that I actually got into it. You really got it cheap man!

I've run 2 cards and the whole system on a Seasonic 620W S12II, fairly possible but 750 would be safer. Then for 2 more cards you can get another 500-600W PSU. And by card I mean 7950/R9-280x
34  Local / India / Re: At what rate did you buy your first BTC ? on: January 18, 2014, 12:09:33 PM
Something around 140$, quite late as well.
35  Local / Mining (India) / Re: Help me to Build a mining rig with my OLD PC! on: January 18, 2014, 04:33:34 AM
A cheapo Zebronics PSU isn't recommended when you're plugging in a 17K GPU. Get something better. Both Corsair and Antec have quality PSU for lower budget. For anything upwards of 500W, get Seasonic.
36  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: Buy/ Sell Bitcoin in India on: January 14, 2014, 06:10:12 PM
Use mt.gox or bitstamp or btc-e, or some chinese website, like btcchina

For indians you have as many as people like China, but fewer people invest in bitcoins, anybody can tell me the reason here.
Lower internet penetration, a pain in the donkey government policies and orthodox mindset.
37  Local / India / Re: How good is it to deal with Gox ? need some advice on: January 14, 2014, 05:59:58 PM
Bump anybody ?
There are allegations Coinbase has links with Feds. So only reputable ones left are Bitstamp and btc-e. The price on Mt. Gox is so high and inflated because it's that hard to move fiat out of there. Bitstamp rates are realistic. Other than that, as you said, localbitcoins
38  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: Are you selling a RADEON HD 6970 ? on: January 12, 2014, 08:11:09 PM
Actually I'm specific about those two cards because of this previous thread of mine. That user told that these cards are the only cards which are under $150 and can provide 400+KH/s. Obviously I can get only used cards under my budget. That's why I'm specific about it.

You asked in the international forum, do you expect to just apply the conversion rate of $/Rs and get it at that price? 7950's are available on amazon for 300~350$. Same stuff is 23K in India. 6950/70 is a pretty old model that's why you could get it under 10K, they'll be mostly out of warranty: a bill is a passe. Just because you got a reply over there to buy a 6970 doesn't mean you shouldn't do your research, look here https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison
A 6950 isn't much behind from 6970, but if you can get a 6970 for almost same price that's a better deal obviously.

R9 270x are pretty new, you won't find used ones. 7870...maybe, but that's a far better deal.

A new card will consume less electricity (unless you have free electricity) and have better resell value. 2 years down the lane if you wanna sell your gear you might not even find someone willing to buy a 6970.
39  Local / Mining (India) / Re: 1x to 16x powered riser cables on ebay on: January 11, 2014, 10:32:31 PM
Upto 3 doesn't hurt my dear Sir. People do Triple CFX on their system to play games and they don't even have the option of providing extra power through risers since gamers can't use risers. I'm quite sure 3 is in the safe zone.
If its a high end mobo which is crossfire compatible etc, then yes. Doing it on cheap boards is a gamble.

Oh right! Well I've run 3 cards on a gigabyte mobo costing 7k, though not too long two Weeks. How cheap are you talking about?
