61  Local / India / Re: Look at the charts (Bitcoin dont give a Crap about India) RBI on: December 28, 2013, 02:38:46 PM
India is smaller than a midget but likes to think of itself as some kind of "superpower"
Tell that to frantic Modi supporters calling themselves 'Bharat mata ke bhakt' and see if they don't beat you into a pulp.  Cheesy
62  Local / India / Re: Is Indian Bitcoin scene dead already? on: December 28, 2013, 02:32:26 PM
Exactly, we wouldn't have gotten to work until our asses were on fire. We were so far going under a grey zone. Now it'll be either legalized or partially illegalized (though I don't see on what grounds the courts might do that).
63  Local / Mining (India) / Re: Building a custom rig on: December 27, 2013, 07:34:58 PM
Yeah I'm getting it custom built for 4 GPU (2X 7950, will buy 2X R9 280x this month). Also 2x 200mm fans on one side that will blow air in, since the top is open the hot air can escape from above. I had a much more elaborate design that I did with cardboard, but I think simple is best. I'll post a pic when I finally get time to actually build it  Grin
64  Local / Mining (India) / Re: Add2PSU (Combine Multiple PSUs, 2 or more) on: December 27, 2013, 07:29:47 PM
I think the paperclip trick to short the contacts on the 24 pin mobo connector of a PSU works just fine
65  Local / Mining (India) / Re: URGENT advice needed - R9 280x or 7970 ? [CLOSED] on: December 25, 2013, 02:55:37 PM
The msi version of the r9 280x is better than the sapphire (slightly) but costs around 2-3k more.
66  Local / Mining (India) / Re: Locating a 16X PCIe Riser on: December 16, 2013, 08:46:16 PM
Get lots of those cheap Chinese stuff and a few quality American/European stuff.  Grin We Indians love cheap stuff, but a few might be picky.
67  Local / Mining (India) / Re: Locating a 16X PCIe Riser on: December 14, 2013, 05:41:20 PM
I've now mailed to most Indian online IT shops about the Bitcoin revolution coming to India and the new stuff that will be in demand, most importantly these 16x-16x Risers and 1x-16x risers. I'm certain most will ignore me though  Roll Eyes

Anywho, I'm sitting on an extra HD 7950. Decided to plug it in directly to the mobo beneath my 7950 vapor-x....Even after crazy undervolting and underclocking (0.95 V/850 core/1100 mem) the temps went upto 82 C. Not that 82 C is bad but for all that fuss I got just 200 KH extra compared to just the vapor x alone overclocked. So I'm eagerly waiting for those risers too.

And if you're concerned about quality, these are the very best http://cryptocables.com/
But they're triple the price of what's available on amazon/ebay.
68  Local / India / Re: Bitcoins as savings for childrens and womens. on: December 14, 2013, 01:44:47 PM
I tried convincing my dad to invest some in this, but he was like "something that doesn't exist, doesn't exist. What fool throws money at imaginary stuff?" Next month I'm gonna buy a gift for him with the bitcoins I made and try explaining it to him again. But, old timers will be old timers anyway. Tongue
69  Local / Mining (India) / Re: noob miner, help on: December 10, 2013, 09:49:44 PM
CrossFire X/ SLI is required for gaming, not mining. In gaming all GPU's work on calculating and outputting to a device (monitor). For example a game to utilize maximum computing available all the work done by concerted. If one of the two GPU is significantly slower (different models) they can't perform as equivalents, hence the requisite of same model for cross fire. In case of mining however each card is working separately, calculating hashes. They don't need to talk to each other or collaborate. They also don't need to exchange a lot of data at high speed, that's why risers on an 1x PCIe port work fine for mining.

TLDR: no need of cross fire, you can use different GPU for mining. People have actually made rigs with 7950s and 7970s mixed together.

I use Multibit. It's quite secure and lightweight. No need to download the blockchain.

Guys take care! DX.com doesn't have powered risers. If you're using more than 3 cards on a MoBo and it's not the specialized mining MoBo from ASRock then you WILL need the powered risers or you risk frying your MoBo. I just had escrow.ms order 2 unpowered and 2 powered risers for me from ebay. Since I'm assembling my rig late in December, that's not a problem. Also you can convert unpowered ones into powered by using this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=76121.0

Procuring those male and female ends on the riser in smaller quantities is a problem otherwise me or anyone competent enough to solder and wrap electrical tape could actually make those goddamn risers for as little as 80-90 Rs.
72  Local / Mining (India) / Re: R9 290x Sapphire needed on: December 10, 2013, 09:08:42 PM
Just to mention, 290 is better than 290x for mining as the constraints on the core give more room to memory on the former which is what mining is hungry for.
73  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: Anybody with paypal who can order stuff for me? on: December 10, 2013, 05:37:06 PM
Thanks all for the interest. Escrow.ms ordered the stuff for me from ebay.
74  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: Anybody with paypal who can order stuff for me? on: December 10, 2013, 11:14:17 AM
Thanks, right now I'm in touch with escrow.ms. So let's see.
75  Local / Marketplace (India) / Anybody with paypal who can order stuff for me? on: December 10, 2013, 09:09:18 AM
I want to buy some riser cables for my rig. Since they are unavailable in India I'm planning to order from ebay.com or somewhere similar. Now my   SBI cats don't work with Paypal, so I need some help who can order internationally. Of course you can have your cut.

Oh btw since these things sip from China and take 2-3 Weeks to arrive and I'm assembling the rig by end of this month I'd like it asap. Anyone who can help please   PM me
76  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Where to find 7950s on: December 08, 2013, 07:09:21 PM
All the silly litecoin miners are buying them up for outrageous prices. It's impossible as a gamer to get a decent gaming card that isn't a total ripoff.

Buy an nVidia. Gtx 770? nVidia hatez crypto  Grin

You hate transparency? What? Mr Gates/Warren/Ambani & Co. Sit on a large chunk of world's fiat. I don't see no one complainin'. And I presume it's Satoshi, he's like a guarantee: just like gold is to 'legal' currencies.
78  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN]R17x: Black Arrow Prospero X-3 <DZMC Exclusive> $110 / 40GHS on: November 30, 2013, 11:54:27 PM
My order no. is 772. I replied to the e-mail with my payout address but on the site, the note is still there and status says 'processing'. Is there something else I oughtta do?
If you replied to the email your all set, there are over 200 orders in processing and its just not worth my time to go back into them to change them to completed.
To change them to complete I basically have to go 1 by 1 to find the order.
Thanks for the clarification

80  Local / Mining (India) / Re: litecoin cpu mining help on: November 24, 2013, 07:29:53 PM
Make an account on coinotron.com or similar pool, download pooler's cpu miner and configure it to mine ltc on coinotron with your worker id. Google for detailed steps. Imho it.gd pointless anyway. Each of my hd 7950 mine about .4 ltc a day you'll make 50 times less on a cpu. you can invest in gpu or just buy and trade.
