81  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will this cause France to get into Bitcoin - 75% Tax on Rich on: December 31, 2013, 05:48:49 AM
His value to the company he works for is a certain amount, but he only gets 1/4 in pay.  The government confiscates 3/4 of his would-be pay or the company is forced to keep it and not pay the guy what he is worth.

Guy moves to another country that does not confiscate from him what he is worth.

France loses thousands of the best and brightest.  Industry suffers.  Cannot compete with countries that welcome with open arms the cream of the crop.  France becomes a country of low-wage workers and people dependent on handouts from .gov (which may be the whole object of this exercise in stupidity).
82  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will this cause France to get into Bitcoin - 75% Tax on Rich on: December 31, 2013, 05:34:21 AM
People making that kind of money tend to be the innovators, the risk takers, the factory makers, the employers.  They are the pople who work 80-hour weeks to make things happen.

France is shooting itself in the foot, may as well be shooting itself in the head.  When these key people in the economy decide to either leave France or just plain stop doing what they do the French economy will slide ever more quickly into the gutter.

They never learn, do they?

Beetcoin - you say "give them government assistance". Just where do you think these government funds come from?  From the taxpayers (Note: the government produces NOTHING.  Government only consumes.  Government can only "assist" by raising taxes LOL)
83  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who plans to shop on Overstock.com as soon as BTC payments work? on: December 30, 2013, 03:40:38 PM
I'll buy from them if their prices are competitive with fiat retailers. BitcoinStore already has competitive prices for electronics, and I'll probably buy my next new laptop from them.

Bitcoin has an intrinsic advantage over credit cards in that it avoids those credit card fees of 1-2%. Another reason why the banks hate it  Grin

I think the credit card fees for businesses selling stuff is more like 2 to 3%, plus additional hefty chargeback fees when the merchant is scammed by customers, which happens more often than you may think.

This customer fraud is, of course, passed on to the honest customers via higher prices necessary to cover the fraud and stay in business.

So bitcoin can eventually cause prices to drop while keeping profits at the same level.  A win-win for everyone and a great boon to the economy, jobs, etc.  Maybe not so much of a boon to dishonest customers who have learned to game the current system and certainly not a boon to the predatory credit card industry.

Once a few of the big retailers are accepting bitcoin for payment, many others may of necessity follow their lead.
84  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Game has moved from geeks to: wealthy ppl, banksters and gov. on: December 26, 2013, 02:38:32 PM
We need to end this idea that wealth is bad, that most wealthy people somehow stole from those who are not wealthy.

The problem is not capitalism and wealth.  Both are good.  Both are what feeds mankind and gets us to the stars.

The problem is "crony capitalism" which is not capitalism - we are now living in Fascism.  These are two different systems.  If you think the USA and much of the world is living in capitalism right now you are sorely mistaken.  We are Fascists.

The majority of wealthy people did not steal their wealth as mainstream media would like you believe. The majority of wealthy people earned their wealth by creating businesses such as car washes, construction firms, service industries, laundry mats, farming, inventing, etc and etc.

You likely have wealthy people living in your neighborhood even though you may not know it - because they live and act much like you.  They work hard (usually far more than your typical 40-hr per week worker), take huge financial and personal risks, employ people, pay upwards of 40% in direct taxes (nearly half!), and make the world a better place for us all.  If they were to leave your area (think of Detroit) you would see it fall into ruin because they truly are carrying much of the burden.

You simply do not know this and it is not your fault because you have been lead to believe differently.

Wake up to the truth of what wealth is and how you earn wealth by providing value.  Destroy your ignorance and be free.

I have spoken.
85  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Bloomberg TV Host Gifted Bitcoin On Air And It Immediately Got Stolen on: December 24, 2013, 04:53:01 PM
Likely trying to show the dangers of using bitcoin - if the bitcoin was stolen it was likely by someone in the employ of Bloomberg for this show. They used to do similar things with the early Internet, trying to prove how dangerous it was.

Sheeple take note: Best stay with fiat currencies being printed by your friendly, honest governments, by the trillions out of thin air.

The lesson is clear: like the Internet, bitcoin is just too dangerous for use by everyday people
86  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will China think as they see the price of bitcoin rise after banning it? on: December 20, 2013, 08:15:40 AM
USA has banned many drugs, and even alcohol during prohibition.  How has that worked out?  It actually made the price of these higher.

People find work-arounds to government interventions.  The "black market" always flourishes and as mentioned by others you can bet the farm that many Chinese public servants...err, I mean "Officials".... are into Bitcoin themselves in a big way.
87  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Newsweek in 1995: Why the Internet will Fail. on: December 20, 2013, 08:11:00 AM
while cryptos share many similarities with the internet, i don't think they are necessarily direct comparisons. the internet's impact will probably be much much bigger and more felt than BTC's.

Careful, or you may be writing a similar article yourself in the year 2032!
88  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: *POLL* - Why are you here? on: December 19, 2013, 11:19:39 PM
Why am I here?  'Cause mom and dad had an encounter some half a century ago.

I would go back to A.D. 1400. I will give weapons to Native Americans, so that when the conquistadors come to butcher them, the Indians kick the invaders in the a$$.

*high five* That's actually not a bad idea Cheesy

It may have been disease more than anything else that kept the native Americans from defeating the invaders
90  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We should be happy tyranny is allergic to bitcoin, not sad. on: December 19, 2013, 10:43:55 PM
Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance. No one in this world, so far as I know—and I have researched the records for years, and employed agents to help me—has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby.  H L Mencken.

In other words, once the common herd discovers they can vote themselves other people's money the jig is up.  The economy will be destroyed as parasitical classes suck off the teat of those who work and produce real value.

Eventually the producers stop working, close their factories or businesses, or exit the area - leaving the parasites to wither on the vine.

The shear number of parasites eventually destroy the host.  Detroit, USA is a prime example of this process.

You will see this Detroit phenomena  happening to Chicago and a host of other US cities as democracy is used by voters to get themselves more and more of other peoples money.  Politicians go along with this because they get re-elected by promising other peoples money be redistributed to voters who did not earn it.  This drives the economy into the toilet in a great swirling rush you can hear loud and clear today.

Hence, democracy destroys itself from within.  Alas, such is human nature that democracy is not the answer - rather, the right to private property and wealth is the only way to create prosperity.

People will not learn this lesson even though it has been repeated countless times throughout history.  The only way to stop it is to have a money that cannot be taken by coercion - if this can be done, you will see great prosperity arise throughout the world.

"Sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck".

My guess is, the universe is protecting you.  A walk in the rain is tame compared to other ways this could have turned out.  Just my take, your opinions may vary.

Send me $220 cash and your BTC will be on the way!

Oh, you won't do that 'cause you don't trust me? LOL
93  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New site:Bitcoin address top100 and find your rank(update every day) on: December 14, 2013, 11:23:30 AM
It kinda makes sense that the biggest supporters of bitcoin are tending to accumulate more bitcoin.  Say you open a business that trades goods and services for dollars - if you are successful you will start accumulating dollars.  That is the point of business, is it not?  Bitcoin is likely the same.
94  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are you a virgin? on: December 13, 2013, 09:48:05 PM
A couple are sitting on a sofa together and the guy slowly moves his hand down grabbing the girls knee. He then slowly starts moving his hand upward toward her inner thigh when all of the sudden she grabs his hand and says, "I've never done anything like this before!"  The guy looks her in the eye with a puzzled stare and said, "Really, I was talking to your son earlier today and he says you have."
LOL - when they say "I've never done anything like this before!" you know they have done it probably dozens of times.

What they really mean is "...before, with you".

97  Economy / Economics / BitCoin Christmas on: December 13, 2013, 03:16:20 PM
This may be the first real "Bitcoin Christmas".  That is, people with substantial bitcoin holdings are spending coin for gifts (as well as for expensive cars, as we have seen).

Alot of these guys were just scraping by at regular jobs.  Now they have hundreds of thousands of dollars in bitcoins  so it is time to splurge a bit and enjoy the newfound wealth.

As they have been unloading some coins for the purchase of gifts, this could be depressing prices somewhat.  Expect after Christmas a big surge upward as bitcoin ignites the world to the potential of crypto currencies.

Just a theory.  But hey, I got into bitcoin on just a theory and it has panned out well for me.  Very well indeed.

I suggest all of you who are on the fence => get yourself one bitcoin.  Get yourself one milli-bitcoin if that is what you can afford.  Get into the game and see what it is all about.

On a scale of one to ten, Bitcoin has reached about stage 1.5.  It's potential is enormous.

99  Economy / Speculation / Re: how much of your life savings is invested in BTC? on: December 13, 2013, 12:07:02 PM
It didn't start off being so high, but now it is more than 50% of our savings (I didn't include my house).
just a friendly reminder your house is a liability not a asset

Tell that to my parents who sold their house and my dad is still living off the proceeds 10 years later.

Times have changed, my friend.  Those days are done.

Your parents are also living off the proceeds of social security and medicare...programs you are paying into that you will likely never see when you retire.

The "Greatest Generation" really set themselves up nice.  At the next generations expense!

The beauty of renting is that you are liquid: can easily move to where the opportunities arise as soon as they arise.  A house and mortgage can be a ball and chain.  Ask some Detroiters.

Also, should the SHTF in your town you simply walk out the door to greener pastures.  You don't even have to lock the door on the way out.

Stay liquid, my friends.

It's like any store of wealth be it silver, gold, dollars, or what have you.

Don't be jealous and cry in your milk because someone has more than you: DO something about it.

Here's how: Create something of value other people are willing to purchase from you.  THAT is the most common way to become wealthy yourself.

Remember, during the gold rushes the miners were not usually the ones who made a fortune...the merchants did!

The potential for a merchant to sell goods or services and make hundreds and thousands of bitcoins is immense.  Do it now and get in on the ground floor while bitcoin is still relatively fresh and new.

This is your big chance, don't blow it by mopping around crying.  Either get in the game or stay on the couch, it's your call and you reap the rewards of your decisions.
