1161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: An Open Letter to the Bitcoin Community from the Developers on: September 01, 2015, 08:56:43 PM
Is this real ?

I don't see Brock Pierce's name on there.  Isn't he the president of bitcoin?

Maybe its a fake.  I wouldn't trust anything without the president's name on it.
1162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: An Open Letter to the Bitcoin Community from the Developers on: September 01, 2015, 07:29:10 PM
"Trust us"

No.

I thought bitcoin was to be a trustless system?
1163  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: September 01, 2015, 04:39:12 PM
May I remind you of something called "HALVING" before going crazy on a purchasing spree?

That is a million years away.  By the time halving arrives, each and every S7 will have long been tossed in the bin.  Miner lifetime is far shorter than that.
1164  Economy / Exchanges / Re: How do coinbase make money on: August 29, 2015, 08:06:42 PM
Amph is right. Coinbase makes their money through fees. Also you'll notice their buy price is always a couple dollars higher than all the exchanges, so if you buy BTC from them you are paying over the current market rate.

Actually, Coinbase doesn't make money.  They lose money.  They are not yet profitable.  They are burning their investors cash. One day, they will have to make money.  But today, the job is to get as many people signed up and in love with the service as possible.  Then, they will live off their fees.  But for now, they still spend more than they make.  Like nearly all bitcoin businesses.
1165  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to motivate womens to use Bitcoin? on: August 29, 2015, 03:09:50 PM
I would think trying to educate women on Bitcoin would be pretty much the same as trying to explain it to a man.
What a fool.  Obviously never been with a women.  Are you a core programmer?  Have you ever left your mom's basement?

Raise the price of diamonds 100%
Tell women if they buy diamonds with Bitcoin, they can have 50% off.  Done, they love Bitcoin!  They will run around all over the internet trying to find out where to get more bitcoin.  They will save bitcoin.  They will steal bitcoin.  They will convince their husbands to slay dragons in order to get more bitcoin.
1166  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to motivate womens to use Bitcoin? on: August 28, 2015, 02:16:30 PM
how we could motivate women to use Bitcoin because I tried several times to explain what it is and how to use Bitcoin ...was very difficult and have not really managed only once ..

i am a woman using bitcoin. but i admit almost all using bitcoin is a guy. but NOT all. if you want to motivate them you should show results to them. explain to them and help how it works... i think man can persuade a woman in any ways. it depends on the guy.. Tongue
Well I tried several times but did not really work  ... it is easier for them to go shopping with cash directly Smiley)

I told my wife to go to Barneys and buy something with Bitcoin.  She asked them if the take Bitcoin when trying to buy some nice boots.  They said: 'what the fuck lady?!' "Are you crazy?!" "Get the fuck out of here" - and then they called security.

1167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin XT - Officially #REKT (also goes for BIP101 fraud) on: August 26, 2015, 08:20:40 PM

Time to zap Gavin's alert key in the next release (I assume but to not know that it is still there.)  A discussion on replacement(s) should be undertaken.
I would like just to confirm that the alert key is there. I as well have thought about this (as I have defended him in the past). The decision of keeping it should be re-evaluated.

Judging from the miners vote right now, BIP100 is gaining traction while XT is going to 0% (even Slush abandoned it).

He has not abused the key.  Just because his opinion doesn't agree with yours you'd like to take the key?  That is crazy.  We need guys on both sides of an argument to have keys - otherwise Blockstream can just take over the blockchain today.

The next time someone wants to make changes to bitcoin - they will release 'RT' - or whatever.  The people will vote.  The winner will win.  That is how it is supposed to work.  You don't want the get rid of Mike and Gavin - they are doing what they are supposed to.  Introduce possible things which can improve.  Then we vote.

Taking away the keys and kicking him out of the community is the dumbest thing I've read on this forum - and this forum has a lot of very dumb shit.
1168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin and master coin on: August 25, 2015, 08:00:35 PM
Master coin supplies API to let people to create own coin and run on top of mastercoin and bitcoin. Is there any guide for how to develop my own coin based on mastercoin. And share the same blockchain with btc
Mastercoin is an awesome platform for doing this.  Especially since the new DEX will be ready in about 30 days.  This means excellent support for trading your coin on open markets.  Contact Judith and she will have a tech help you launch your coin which will only take 1 hour.  Then, give your coin to others and start trading.  Really, this can be all done in 1 hour or less.
1169  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price is dropping!! What to do?? on: August 25, 2015, 03:14:09 AM
Hi, im very worried now with the bitcoin price falling so fast...

Is it too late or should i change it all to USD or other currencies ?

Please help urgently and any advise....

Sell.  Are you crazy?  Do you want to sit around all next week just to lose more?  Sell.  Don't be stupid and let all your money disappear.  Sell now and when things get better buy again.
1170  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: bitcoin network on: August 24, 2015, 07:05:04 PM
Hi there
I am trying to build a bitcoin network simulator. To be more realistic,i am trying to figure out how a node in bitcoin network propagate the message(inv or full transaction) for its connected peers, i mean send the message to the connected peers in turn or all at the same time.

secondly ,transaction doesn't include the ip of destination , so how the transaction will identify its route in the network.I said ok, transaction doesn't need to identify the route coz any node would open 8 connections with other peers. That means this route will be reserved for only a particular node. am i right? if so ,, does this scenario affect the efficiency of the network coz we reserved 8 routes for a node whilst this node doesn't have a transaction to propagate?

Looking forward for your valuable answer ..

Thanks.. Smiley

1171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Big trouble for these guys - next on casualty list? on: August 24, 2015, 06:34:52 PM
The Bitcoin Shop is hurting.  Just lost 4.5 million in last three months.  http://www.coindesk.com/btcs-4-5-million-net-loss-mining-grows

They claim that revenue from 'transaction verification services' is way up.  LOL!  " do you mean mining?"  Now they have a shitload of old Spondoolies rigs which are going to be 1/10 in efficiency as soon as the next gen comes out - about 6 more months.

They nearly shut down the unprofitable 'Bitcoin Shop' - as a huge loss maker.

Folks, my bet is these guys won't make it another year.  Will this be the first major publically traded bitcoin company to file bankruptcy?
1172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time to bury the Bitcoin Foundation? on: August 21, 2015, 04:39:49 PM
It is just like in Vonnegut's Slapstick.  Brock is the President of the United States - which no longer exists.  Brock is going to use that title the best he can in the press and future deals - but for all intents and purposes, they are already long gone and done and irrelevant - just like the US in Slapstick.  This is also almost as funny as Slapstick
1173  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to create an exchange on: August 19, 2015, 05:24:09 PM
You need first to hire a coder....

lol! funny.  First hire a lawyer.  Then hire another lawyer to tell you the first lawyer was full of shit.  The code is the least of your worries.  Regulation is the first issue.
1174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Real Problem isn't XT... on: August 18, 2015, 12:27:57 AM
XT already lost.  The three largest mining pools in China, who own 30% of the hash rate, have already publicly said they're not willing to switch to XT.

Good.  Thank F that's over.

Average block is only around 500kb right now, so there's still loads of time to come to a solution and consensus regarding blocksize before we reach the 1MB limit.

XT will take 75% in about two weeks.  You'll see.
1175  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Oh - you think the blockchain is getting too big? on: August 18, 2015, 12:25:55 AM
The blockchain was very small in 2015. That's what we'll say in 2025.
The only thing I don't like is that fewer and fewer people will take hassle to download it. I gave it up in early 2014, and I've used clients who don't require to download the blockchain since then. When it will be over 100 To, and that's going to be soon, who will get it?

It won't be too hard to build special download mechanisms and checks to verify it is correct.  Now the process of getting all the blocks sucks.
1176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Time to Switch from Eligius on: August 18, 2015, 12:23:30 AM
I 've been mining on Eligius with over 50Thash.  I think Luke Jr. is a dick - but didn't care as it was an easy pool to set up.  So I just stayed there.  Now, we have a real issue.  I support XT.  I want to switch my mining to an XT pool.

Which pool is presently on XT?  I know AntPool is planning on going to XT, but I want to go to XT now.  Should I switch from Eligius and who do I switch too for easy pool mining?

A lot of people think this.  The guys at CounterParty hate him for hating OP_Return.
1177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Bitcoin was just an experiment - for learning on: August 18, 2015, 12:22:16 AM
Bitcoin was an awesome experiment.  We all learned a great deal of cool stuff.

But let's face it - it is probably over now.  With this major fracture and groups of core devs fighting and going in two directions, it can be long before the whole package unravels.  But all is OK!  No problem.  Something great will rise from its ashes.  Maybe that new system will be called Phoenix.  There is no doubt a great new crypto will soon take bitcoin's place.

What do you think the new crypto system will look like?  FedCoin?  Etherium?  Litecoin?  Phoenix?  Give a few sentences about how you see the next step as we move on from Bitcoin.

1178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Oh - you think the blockchain is getting too big? on: August 16, 2015, 01:06:24 AM
Anyone else noticed the picture is fake or irrelevant? A 60GB SSD is not exactly a 16TB HDD or anything.

And SPV wallet work just fine on dialup/cellphone so no, the blockchain being big is a non issue. If someone want to run a node he may one day be interested in a 16TB HDD so sure, this is totally appropriate for a node user.
The picture is the picture Samsung used on their press release.  It is merely supposed to give the impression of a 2.5 hard drive.  Nobody gives a fuck what is printed on the label.  They will finally print a new label for the 16TB.

You guys are all fucked up.
1179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Did you read this? This is crazy shit. on: August 16, 2015, 12:06:51 AM
https://medium.com/@octskyward/why-is-bitcoin-forking-d647312d22c1

This very well could be the end of Bitcoin.  In every case, it is insanely serious.  Notably: "The decision process for Bitcoin Core - is broken".

Price to less than $100 before Wednesday.  Bet me.

No problem.  16 terabyte.  http://www.fastcompany.com/3049876/fast-feed/samsung-debuts-worlds-largest-hard-drive?position=5&partner=newsletter&campaign_date=08152015&utm_content=buffer85858&utm_medium=social&utm_source=linkedin.com&utm_campaign=buffer
