Is there any way to invest in MasterCoin like with other coins?
For sure.  Buy some while the prices are still insanely low.  In 18 months after this thing is running hot - you'll be rich (sell high).  Go here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ApGPLGUd5ZCzdHFxbnhHQjBDSDVKamY5UHlWdkNMNWc&usp=sharing#gid=0

I've also released a windows wallet. Mymastercoins  wallet v 1.01

https://github.com/Bitoy88/MyMastercoinsWalletBeta/package

Please try it.
I think your link is busted.

I'm working on the DEx right now, so hopefully we will be fully in sync after this weekend Smiley
If you PM me your address, I'll send cocaine, hookers and pizza so you can really get some extra work done.
1364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: 300 BTC Coding Contest: Distributed Exchange (MasterCoin Developer Thread) on: December 14, 2013, 04:39:43 PM
I'm really intrigued by the mastercoin concept. What's the best way to dive into this? I have a few BTC laying around, also could do some development if needed.
Great to have your interest!  Development is the way to go.  But keep in mind, there are at least three pretty dedicated guys chasing some core development at the moment (the DEx).  If I were you, I'd find some supporting role.  There are probably 50 important tools we need which can be bolted onto Zathras' Windows Wallet.  Tachi is the Linux guy.  Bitoy is also doing a .Net web interface system.  Bitoy's system is also ripe for add-on components which could be developed to increase the functionality of that platform.

In any case, warm up your IDE and go for it.  There is so much work to do, you barely have time to make a coffee before starting.  Go now.

Hello Ola,

We are not really interested right now. Maybe at a later time.

Thanks for your proposition thought !

Emilien

lol.  Cracks me up how many times domain name squatters think the whole key to a business is some dumb name and a bit of SEO.  Too bad building a real business involves about 5000 other things more complex than domain name registration.  It reminds me of those people who print up fancy business cards - and then do nothing else.  lol.
1366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MasterCoin: New Protocol Layer Starting From “The Exodus Address” on: December 07, 2013, 04:47:52 PM
By the way, is there any further word on the 'share buyback' proposal?  If it has been cancelled, I'd like to adopt one position.  If it is forthcoming, I'd like to adopt another position.  If it is still being debated, I'd like to adopt another.  Part of 'full disclosure' is mentioning the state of this proposal.  Can we have a word on this please?
1367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MasterCoin: New Protocol Layer Starting From “The Exodus Address” on: December 07, 2013, 04:38:23 PM
You'll be horrified to learn that some on the board have actually bought MORE Mastercoin rather than selling as you have been arguing for so strenuously. This is because, like me, they believe Mastercoin will be successful and are acting accordingly.

Obviously we're further consolidating our evil cabal of power in this ecosystem. No doubt the project is doomed because some major investors bought more at a MUCH higher price than they got initially. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted.

Pedantic and dismissive comments regarding people's concerns will not help Mastercoin, and I do not see what you or other investors gain by them. No one doubted that you have faith in the project. The question is whether potential investors will want to invest in spite of their concerns about centralization.
While your attempt to be very frank and thorough with all persons is admirable, I am begging you to please quit arguing with this idiot.  You don't owe an explanation to everyone.  You are doing a remarkable job placing power where it belongs.  Holders of MSC are not shareholders of a corporation entitled to long explanations from the CEO.  You are not the CEO and MSC units are not shares.  The foundation has a job to do.  MSC holders do not run the foundation.  The foundation runs the foundation until a proof of stake system is defined.  bitexch thinks he has a devine vote today - he doesn't.  I am very happy you understand why Ron has to do his job without permission from bitexch.  Hey bitexch - sell the rest of your MSC if you don't like the show.  dacoinminster is kicking major ass running this thing - and he doesn't need your boring inputs.

But before saying yay/nay to that I'd want to do some due diligence to see if that has any other impact I'm not seeing at first glance (ie like all of a sudden validating other past transactions that may previously have been seen as invalid and thus resent etc).

Thanks for looking into this.  It is good to get clarification at an early date.  These unusual deviations all need to be cleared up to prevent the chaos which comes without good concordance between systems.

Will you let me know (post here) when a decision is made?  I don't want to trouble you with inquiries as I am anxious for you to finish the DEx like everyone else.  But, I also don't want this to be dropped without finality.  Anything I need to do?  Thanks again.

can anyone help me to understand why on
https://masterchest.info/lookupadd.aspx?address=13sTmHYc2jcUPE4EwZnfULqUHwEHV1o8M6
the balance is 0 but the 2 transactions are visible and marked as valid?
is this just a bug in the https://masterchest.info or was there something wrong with the transaction?
The transactions are actually marked as invalid.  The header of the column maybe should read 'validity' and the color indicate green= valid and red=invalid.

The originating addresses for those 2 transactions didn't own any mastercoins.
This can happen when using Armory for example as the actual sending address is chosen by the software and is not necessarily the address with the mastercoins on it - although it probably shares the same wallet with an address which does have mastercoin.

To avoid, use Amory 'coin control' in the Expert version.  You can select which sending address is used manually.

I think Zathras should comment since I can't detected why their are being invalidated on his end. Once I know the reason I can compare it to my validation checking to see which of the implementations has the correct interpretation of the spec.
Thanks Tachi -
I'll stand by until Zathras has a chance to look it over.  Meanwhile, keep up the great work.

I've met all my promises - whether or not you've been able to accomplish the act suggested doesn't reflect upon my delivering that what is promised.

Not exactly. We agreed on a trade and you took ages messing around and eventually pulled out because the price had dropped.
I was unable to transmit MSC because Armory wouldn't load.  I was very polite about it and offer a sincere apology indeed.  However, until both parties are able to transmit successfully to escrow - the deal is merely pending with best efforts.  It's not like I owed you a dime and didn't send it.  Shit can fall out of escrow.
1372  Economy / Speculation / Re: Calling the end on: December 05, 2013, 08:38:00 PM
I'm not going to call it the "end" of bitcoin, but it may be the end of the uptrend. Maybe another cryptocurrency will now step up. Just sayin'
"Trailing off" sounds like a slow, steady decline.
Yeah, another day today where it didn't explode up with a 20% increase.  This bitcoin thing is for the birds.  I am moving on to more exciting projects.  This is dead.

Which is why I proposed that all overlapping orders are removed after X days rather than every order.
I am not sure that is really your proposal Faraday.

1375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: MasterCoin Buyer/Seller Thread on: December 05, 2013, 07:02:23 PM
I am not sure about the proposed fee charged to place an order in the book, I imagine most people will just pay the fee one time and then change the existing order to avoid paying more fee's, for example you could place a sell for 100 MSC at 0.15 and after it is sold move your order to 1 MSC at 0.9 or something that won't be purchased, then next time you wish to place an order change it again.

So if you proceed with this you might as well just change everyone a 1 time fee to use the order book, still not sure if that's the best idea - it may just discourage people from using the order book at all for standard trades and they will just be posted in this thread instead.

Why don't we start with a maximum of three days before your order will be removed? In this way it will stay up to date and no fee have to be charged.
Lots of valid orders are older than 3 days.  It is nice when a crash comes to know who is willing to buy cheaply.  The part of the book which is crossed - is different.  These guys clearly aren't getting their connections with opposing parties.  These orders are therefore invalid.  I have a valid order which has been on the book a very long time.  We don't want to kill all valid orders older than 3 days - the book will disappear.
1376  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: MasterCoin Buyer/Seller Thread on: December 05, 2013, 06:03:06 PM
One suggestion I would have is that standard orders that are overlapping are removed after 1 or 2 days, this should tidy up the book a bit.
Fees, no fees, reasonable fees - who cares.  That is not important.  What is so HIGHLY important is to work together to establish efficiency in the market.  This will benefit everyone.  A book with a lot of crap offers on it doesn't help anyone.  Conversely, prefunded offers which can be accepted instantly by anyone tend to make the market most efficient.  An efficient market will greatly benefit the MSC price.  If you don't understand why this is so, I am going to have to ask you to please trust me on this.  It has to do with something they teach in B school called 'efficient market theory' (funny enough)
1377  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: MasterCoin Buyer/Seller Thread on: December 05, 2013, 05:26:36 PM
Maybe I didn't understand but if you are saying that you are not taking responsibility to loss of MSC and the amount of time is the same why is a percentage fee justified on large trades?
Even where he doesn't provide a guarantee - he must take greater care in handling large BTC.  Large transactions deserve a larger fee.  Just not over $100.  That is a lot.  I'll be signing up for escrow job if I get $100 to make one MSC transfer.
1378  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: MasterCoin Buyer/Seller Thread on: December 05, 2013, 03:35:01 PM
DGulari, regarding your comment about Pouncer: I want to highlight that he has been of enormous help and put countless hours of his time into this.
Yeah, I don't want to dis Pouncer at all. He is helping and he is making things better.  I totally agree that he is great to have.  I am just saying, Max has been unreal good at making trades zero or low friction.  Even when it comes with special requests.  That is awesome.

However, I had hoped that there would be an upper limit on fees.  I don't think the fee for any single transaction should exceed $100 or .1BTC.  Each transaction takes the same work - whether it is for 1MSC or 1000MSC.  Can't we make a flat fee?  That makes more sense.

For the transaction I just funded, the fee would be over $400.  I think this is excessive.  You guys are awesome and I am glad for your help - but I'd like fees to be in the spirit of bitcoin rather than Visa.

1379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: MasterCoin Buyer/Seller Thread on: December 05, 2013, 08:52:56 AM
This is a dumb idea and will only encourage the creation of an alternate buyer/seller thread without fees.
Please reconsider.
It's fine if we have a thread for the no fee people.  But that market will still have the inefficiencies we have today where you must contact 8 people to find one who will genuinely do a transaction at the advertised price.

Prefunded offers can be accepted without contacting the seller.  This will go very far to reducing transactional friction.

It has nothing to do with fees.  Fees or no fees, it will work great.  Fees are up to Max and Pouncer.  They have nothing at all to do with improving the system in place.  I just happen to think they are well earned.

Max - When a person asks to place an order on the book, you can create two escrow addresses.  Immediately send one to the guy wanting the offer placed.  The other is published in the table.  First guy to drop asked funds on the published address gets that which is on deposit in the coupled address.  Deal done.

You can start with my order for 200MSC@.1999.  Please send me an escrow address so I can deposit MSC now.  Then, please light up the order in the book with a green colored background to indicate a 'prefunded order' - permitting instant acceptance.
1380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: MasterCoin Buyer/Seller Thread on: December 04, 2013, 07:58:51 PM
I like this idea, this would make trading a whole lot easier and faster for both sellers and buyers.
On the other hand it would massively increase my and Pouncer's workload and expose us to the risk of holding other people's Mastercoins.
So we definitely would have to charge a fee for this. But I guess most of you wouldn't mind a small fee for a service like this.
Normally, I'd be the very last guy to agree with fees.  But, you have done a remarkable, wonderfully good job making this market liquid.  You've made me money personally, and you've contributed tremendously to the valuation of Mastercoin.

You've already earned your fees.  I am sure I and the others will be happy to pay them as we go forward from here.

On the other hand, Pouncer not nearly as much.  The guy became an escrow agent one day.  The next day - he started suggesting trading limits.
Just last week, I ask him a special favor to process a deal with my private key.  I didn't have access to my Armory.  He simply told me to take a hike.  There were also other things I asked of Pouncer - he said: 'can't help'.  Right after I got the rejections from Pouncer, I sent Max a message.  Two minutes later Max took my private key and executed the deal.  It was very important for me to get that done.  Because of Max, $40,000 deal done in just 10 minutes.

Max is awesome X10.  Pouncer is nice and useful, but struggles to provide help without complaining.  Max has also been here since the beginning.  He set the tone and style of the market.  I wish Max would get a far greater percentage of the fees.  Either way, I'll be paying whatever it is because the fees are well earned.

You both have done a great job to make a very fun and worthy market.  You should be pleased with the result.  I know nearly every trader is pleased and profitable.

Let's set up the new system - with fees.  The DEx is a long way out (it is pretty complex).  I am glad you like the idea of funded offers with green highlights in the order book.  This will really facilitate transactions as they are instantly executed upon sending the asked/bid price.  I think this will be pretty cool.

Anything that reduces transactional friction opens the door for greater adoption.

Free liquid markets help all participants.  Thanks to Max and Pouncer - and thanks to their continued efforts.  I for one am happy to pay fees.
