IIRC, You were talking of a working prototype of the SWARM platform. When will it be available for (beta?) testing ?

Good luck with the project.

383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty - Pioneering Peer-to-Peer Finance - Official Thread on: June 24, 2014, 02:21:42 PM
Announcement: Over the past few weeks, we've been doing a lot of work on the fee algorithm that Counterparty uses, and now transactions are effectively much cheaper than before. In particular, 'send' transactions can store all of their Counterparty metadata in a 40-byte OP_RETURN output, and you can now specify the exact fees paid for each transaction, as well as the default fee-per-KB amount, dust sizes, and so on. Multi-sig outputs need not be used, so no difficult-to-spend funds need to be sent back to your self at all.

This transaction is an example of a modern send transaction that cost only US $0.01 in fees, with a $0.03 output to the destination. It was constructed and broadcast with the following command: counterpartyd.py send --source=SOURCE --destination=DEST --quantity=1 --asset=XCP --encoding='opreturn' --fee=.00002, and it was confirmed almost immediately. If you're moving lots of assets around, or sending one asset to many users, you can use this script to automate the process and keep costs as low as possible.

Excellent news!

Is this already implemented in counterwallet ?

389  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK] SCRYPT 3 GH/s hosted scrypt mining project by CRYPTX on: June 14, 2014, 08:24:24 AM
Difficulty is still slowing down. Open your eyes, this is as much important as LTC/BTC ratio.
390  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK] SCRYPT 3 GH/s hosted scrypt mining project by CRYPTX on: June 13, 2014, 09:43:09 AM
Difficulty is finally decreasing. Probably big players pointing their miners elsewhere.

Code:
Date	Difficulty	Change	Hash Rate
Jun 13 2014 10,308 -4.23% 295,148 MH/s

Good for us.
391  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Just-Dice.com : Invest in 1% House Edge Dice Game on: June 11, 2014, 03:38:24 PM
If I was to invest I would want at least 15%/year to offset the risk

Then you shouldn't invest.

Average return over the last 6 month compared to the current invest amount is around 11 %

So more than 15%/year!?

Expected return on the last 6months is far greater than 7%

10,95% /year exactly, based on the last 6 month data & today's invested pool value.

I didn't compound the interest since I suppose everyone compounds it.

I wonder if there are good opportunities for automatic arbitrage between the Counterparty DEx, Bter and Poloniex.

It exists, I did some successful arbitrage trades but it takes time if you don't automate the process.

The best opportunites exists between BTER and Poloniex, since the DEX "buy orders" part is not automatic enough. But if there's a upward movement, you can take advantage of big blocks that stays available on the DEX.

Best practice (if you never did it) is to have around 400 XCP & 2 BTC on both exchanges and to transfer the difference overnight to rebalance. Don't buy when the spread is too low (below 1%).

I did 0.45 BTC profit in ten days 3 month ago. It works better when there is some volatility though... Now you'd be happy to make 0.02 BTC /day

It's always good if someone do it, since it'll provide liquidity and reduce spread. The best way should be to write a bot but that's clearly out of my scope !
394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Just-Dice.com : Invest in 1% House Edge Dice Game on: June 11, 2014, 10:29:56 AM
To be fair, to have over 50k invested on a site where you expect, on average, to have around 15 profit a day is insane. The amount of risk involved in investing in a site like this is huge, just look at the other Dice sites and you'll know what I mean.

That's almost 11% a year. Not a bad return, but the risk is indeed to big for the reward.
395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Just-Dice.com : Invest in 1% House Edge Dice Game on: June 11, 2014, 09:59:10 AM

Why would you like to regulate the free market. Yes, although as a long term investor which never divest. I have vested interest on this rule. While one would leave the game when the profitability is too low and switch to other places (like dicenow.com for me, they even offer leverage option by up to 10x)
Also, if you have heard of BTC-DICE (a shameless ripoff of just-dice by another Chinese, stock listed on 796.com), they limited the max invest amount when they launch (they claim it is for the purpose of testing the system without over risking themselves). While the result is that everyone is always pinging the server to wait for any new people to divest.

tl;dr: Don't fuck with free market

Just Dice is not a free market. Just Dice is an autocracy where dooglus decides what he wants. He's a good autocrat so far, we all agree on that.

If he decide to give a chance to smaller investors to get a decent revenue, that's his choice, if he decides to apply the "free market rule" to his site, that's his choice.

The problem of pinging the site for free invest slots is not a problem. He could implement an "auto invest" system with a parallel queue.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=395761.msg7243679#msg7243679

invested amounts are going up like crazy since last week. there was much publicity on reddit about user theymos bets of Fri, Jun 6. could this bring that much investments? also, part of invested amounts are likely to be wagered at some point.

what other conclusions can be made?

I'd suggest 2 things :

- Limit the maximum invested amount to 50k BTC (any excess BTC won by the investors would be automatically divested) you could only invest when the amount is lower than 50k BTC
- Etiquette rule that limit 1k BTC invest amount / person (Etiquette rule because that's basically impossible to enforce since one could make multiple accounts...)

At the moment, the 1% richest BTC holders are taking all the profits for themselves...
398  Economy / Gambling / Re: XBet.IO– the world's first distributed betting application on: June 11, 2014, 08:13:52 AM
What I cannot grasp yet is how XBet.IO takes the 1% cut? If they never have access to your "bet". how does the CounterParty network know that it should send 1% of the profit to XBet.IO's address?

Because the 1% is sent to the feed issuer (xbet in this case) by the counterparty network after the result feed is published.

The % is actually decided by the issuer, so you could eventually publish "free" feeds to bet on...
399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [XBet.IO] - the world's first distributed betting application on: June 11, 2014, 08:02:08 AM
A suggestion : Since the goal (and the fun) is to bet each other, a good idea would be to publish oddsshark.com odds (or another big bookmaker odds) below every match, so you can suggest a realistic odd when there are "not bets yet" Correct me if I'm wrong but it is in your intrest for the bets to be as fair as possible since you only take 1% of the resolved bets.

400  Economy / Gambling / Re: XBet.IO– the world's first distributed betting application on: June 11, 2014, 07:52:43 AM
This means that all bets will be seen attached directly without any other party holds funds betting?
see, for example, Brazil vs Germany I bet on brazil, and I bet the funds will be collected on all others who choose brazil?
and if Germany lost, the total funds betting Germany will be divided equally to all who choose brazil?

Actually, it doesn't work that way.

(xbet.io, correct me if I'm wrong)

You bet against other betters, for example, you chose to bet for a Brazil win against Croatia, you chose a "back" bet with the odds you want. You funds (in XCP) will be escrowed at that point (by the counterparty network, inside the BTC blockchain, and NOT by xbet. This is the true novelty here)
From that point on, you will have to wait for someone to place a "lay" bet (meaning, Brazil WILL NOT win) that matches (or surpass?) the odds of your bet.

Bets will be matched by the counterparty network and you will then have to wait for xbet.io to publish the result (the feed) after the match

No "pot" is made and if no one matches you bet, your XCP are released from escrowed and you receive them back.

About the 1%, is it taken at the betting moment or at the bet is resolved ? What happen if a bet is not matched, or partially ?

As said before, you don't trust XBet with your money, but you trust them only to publish the correct feeds (results) But that would be silly for them to rig the results because everybody would notice it immediately...
