First of all only invest what you can lose. Secondly yes you won't get the same gains it you would have invested a year ago. But i think there will still be some gains.

This all depends both on USD and bitcoins, if bitcoins continue to rise . And as of now USD's purchasing power is diminishing, so you can accurately say that its purchasing power will remain Same if and only it rises the same percentage that USD fails. But Bitcoin coin at the moment is rising more than USD is falling. So, in my opinion it is increasing its purchasing power

No you missunderstood me, pegged means if bitcoin rises they will also rise , and probably more percentage points thaan Btc. And by cheap i mean, out of reach of most people. LTC is around 13 while btc is around 800..

Its just that they all are pegged to BTC but because its not cheap any more, thus the investments are going into other coins.

also you should not make bitcoin more than 10-20% of your investments.. This is what you can afford to lose. Because, bitcoin is more uncertain in future then any other investments you can guess.
