Can anyone else confirm that their mobile wallet is stuck on block 125560?

If so, this is a pointer to where the issue lies. I think I might have a workaround.

send from desktop to Tablet ...check!
send from  Tablet to Phone .. check!
send from Bittrex to Tablet... check!

syncing got stuck by 3 hrs.. solution: backup wallet, reinstall,  restore, sync...  solved. ..check!

..I just received the 30,000 Kobo .., thanks!

I'm looking into the syncing issue. It's the top priority right now. The desktop wallets will be available shortly. There's a string contained in the code that needs to be removed and then the wallets will be recompiled and released.

There shouldn't be a need to reinstall when the wallet syncing stalls. Normally I just close the wallet, kill off any background processes, and then restart. I'm going through the wallet code. I think that's where the problem is rather than the backend.

The copy/paste function is safe enough if it's only used to copy addresses. Have you seen the issue? If you create a request for 100 KOBO and copy the request, when you paste it into a message the KOBO value is set to 10,000 (a decimal shift of 2 places). I'm searching out where this value is set/calculated. It's not a top priority as this value can't be read automatically by any wallet. It still needed to be highlighted.

UPDATE

Android and BlackBerryOS Mobile Wallets - Pre Beta release
(Pre-Beta releases will not be publicized or added to the OP)

FOR TESTING PURPOSES ONLY. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!

See OP for updated wallets

Notes:

** These wallets do not work with the Current v2.1.0.1 Desktop Wallet QR codes. New desktop wallets are being built and will be released shortly. **

1. The wallets should not be used for any large quantities of KOBO. It is for testing (and first-look) purposes only.

2. The wallets are buggy. For example, scanning barcodes phone-to-phone is reliable, but if you 'copy' a request for coins to the clipboard, when the value is pasted elsewhere (e.g into a message or email) it will be EXTREMELY incorrect. DO NOT USE THE "COPY/PASTE" FEATURE WHEN REQUESTING COINS (USE QR CODES PLEASE!). I AM STILL WORKING ON THE COPY/PASTE FEATURE. When resolved, a new mobile wallet will be released here on the thread. You have been warned. If you MUST send a request via messaging please omit a value and send ONLY the address. Use only with extreme caution!

3. I've tested the QR code function with Bittrex QR codes and it works correctly. I've sent kobocoins back and forth with no issues.

4. Syncing (blockchain download) can also be very buggy. Initial download is relatively quick (about 30mins). But syncing after that can get a bit stuttery. The getvalidhashes call seems to be intermittent. Sometimes syncing can stall for up to 2 hours. Sometimes restarting the wallet cures this (but not always). I am still working on this. I think it's an issue with a parameter on the ABE server that's being used for the mobile wallets. Again, please be patient. This part of the build involves tuning parameters. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. Sometimes the platform just needs to be left alone to bed in. We'll see.

5. If you intend to keep the addresses you create on the mobile wallet then please DO NOT FORGET TO BACKUP YOR WALLET. Goto Safety > Backup Wallet

6. There might be quite a few updates to this wallet before the final release on Google Play and BlackBerry World. All wallet updates, before the main beta release, will be posted on this thread only.

7. The Exchange Rate Feature is disabled until a suitable rate provider is found. Also, I'd like to keep the Exchange Rate feature off the pre-beta release.

If you download the wallet, let me know any issues you experience (other than the 'copy/paste' issue). Please try not to get too frustrated with it. Remember that this is basically a lab copy of the wallet. If you're expecting for a reliable consumer tool then please do not download a pre-beta wallet. It's purely for testing the entire platform in anger. It's being released early because it's main functions are now working and I'm sure you're all sick of updates without results.

Get a friend to download one as well and test it out (remember: be careful when using the copy/paste feature).

Next steps:

1. Get new desktop wallets released
2. Resolve the inconsistent syncing issues (blockchain download) or find a suitable workaround
3. Resolve the Copy/Paste issue and release updated pre-beta wallets here on the thread
4. Find a suitable Exchange Rate Provider and integrate into the wallet
5. Investigate adding a PIN number for send (this may be added in a future release)
6. Clean up the code
7. Brand the wallet

If you download the wallet, please check back for updates. I'll be releasing updates for the wallet as I complete them. MAKE SURE YOU PERFORM REGULAR BACKUPS OF YOUR WALLET PLEASE! You might need to perform an uninstall to update your wallet. Once it's on Google Play and BlackBerry World this will no longer be necessary.

MOBILE WALLET GIVEAWAY
(plain QR codes only, and no request value added please)

1st QR Code posted on this thread gets 50,000 KOBO
2nd QR Code posted on this thread gets 30,000 KOBO
3rd QR Code posted on this thread gets 20,000 KOBO

I will be checking forum profiles/histories before paying out - if I even sniff multiple accounts I will track you down and shout at you. Also, I strongly recommend sending your KOBO to your desktop wallet. It's not recommended to keep such large amounts on a mobile wallet

Lastly, I know this is all very crypto and currency and serious and X15 hashing on your brain and stuff, but for now, please try and have some fun with your new tech!

Thanks for your support and patience. It is very greatly appreciated.

Looks like there was a flurry of trading since the delisting notice. Thanks for the support!

UPDATE:
We have our 8GB Server configured and I am now securing the platform. The issue with coin denomination still exists but once the platform is secured it will get 100% of my time.

I'm digging it! I bought high from day 1... I've got faith in this coin & love the fact that we've got an honest dev like yourself behind it. That says volumes! You constantly keep people informed, whether everything's rosy or if there are issues to be worked out. Many devs keep folks in the dark about things. You do not & that's very admirable. I'm sticking with this coin!
Keep up the good work, my man!
Btw, could this also be introduced to Haiti? I think it would be a great idea. What are your thoughts?
I don't believe there is a coin for Haitians.
Thanks, and glad to hear you've been here from the start. I hope you've enjoyed the journey so far (apologies for the delay).
 Smiley

I would love kobocoins to also be introduced to Haiti, or anywhere else where people see the benefits of using them. If there's serious interest I'd be very happy to add Haiti to our strategy. Serious interest means more than just comments here on the forum.

UPDATE:

I think it's best to show you pics of how things are going

Below is a screenshot of both Android and Z10 wallets side by side:

The wallets are syncing correctly. The Z10 wallet is very reliable in syncing but the MotoG needs constant restarting (of the wallet) to eventually fully sync up. This may just be the MotoG as other android phones seem to sync correctly.

I'm hoping that the final hurdle is detailed in the next screenshot. The issue is this:

1. User A requests 1000 KOBO
2. User B scans request
3. User B wallet shows request for 10 KOBO only

The screenshot below shows this issue:

So, next steps

1. Sort out the issue above
2. Increase memory on dns1.kobocoin.com to 8GB (server is being rebuilt for this - online soon)
3. Secure platform
4. Release Android and BB wallets on BitCoinTalk (plus updated desktop wallets)
5. Release Android and BB wallets on Google Play and BlackBerry World
6. iOS wallet

I know where the problem lies (the denomination calculation is off) but fixing it is not as easy as it first looks. Most changes create unforseen issues downstream, so it's not as simple as just making the change in one file.

Trying to be positive about it all, one thing to note is that when the wallets are eventually released they'll be backed up by a stable backend platform. Kobocoin will be one of the very few cryptos with this level of tech infrastructure behind it.

There's been questions on how this is to be introduced into West Africa. This is something that's being taken care of outside the scope of this forum. It's well in hand. We are not counting on hope. We do have a plan to introduce the wallets to West Africa (and the entire continent). It's a big job, but we're not backing down.

Why is the bittrex wallet status "Delayed"?

I've just checked and it seems OK. They do maintenance on wallets from time to time.

Hi tribesman. What is the last situtation about android wallet? Are we close to end?
Sorry about the lack of updates. There's been problems with the getvalidhashes API call which is needed for the mobile wallets.

This has just been resolved today but has required a complete rebuild of dns1. I've also ordered an extra 8GB of memory for dns1 as it seems to be running slowly and the getvalidhashes API call appears to be causing intermittent server crashes.

I'm waiting to hear back about the extra memory.

Once the wallet backend is stable (Abe, DNS seeder, getvalidhashes), then both the Android and BlackBerryOS wallets can be released.

I was considering releasing the unstable wallet just so that people can install it, play with it, and see that it's real, but that would be a VERY bad idea. Releasing a wallet that doesn't work properly is not an option.

We are close to the end. I would like to give an eta for delivery but issues that arise during testing have to be resolved. Each issue takes a differing amount of time to fix.

I'll make sure I post more updates. I know we're very close. It all just needs to be stable.

UPDATE:

ANDROID WALLET IS NOW DISPLAYING CORRECTLY

There are still issues that need to be ironed out. I'll be upgrading the dns seeders' server memory as the blockchain download is too slow at the moment. There's also a few places where entries need to be changed to allow other features to function.

Please be patient for a bit longer while these issues are resolved. The last thing I want is for someone to feel the need to uninstall it because it's not reliable.

I might be offline for a bit. I have a few personal things I've let slip (because of ANDROOOID!!!) that must be taken care of. Then I'll get back on it.
