501  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BEWARE OF CRYPTSY MANIPULATING NEW COINS- VERTCOIN SCREWJOB!! on: February 07, 2014, 04:47:39 PM
Same here, parts of my mining efforts are stuck in nirvana.
Sent x tickets into the helpdesk already.

They cannot not know.

And it's all documented, the block explorer
shows exactly when the money got where.

While my precious is in cryptsy nirvana, I cannot trade with it.

Cryptsy's fault not mine. They hide my money until it's boring to trade with it.

I would really like to know what's going on, there are several possibilities:

It's
(a) a technical problem, or
(b) a jump the queue scam, or
(c) a direct market manipulation.
(d) they protect me from selling now for an undervalued price
(e) a reason that I don't understand.

(f) thieves

Let's have a closer look:

(a) a technical problem
could have well been the reason - but then they had fixed it within an hour or two.
A company like cryptsy cannot afford to not have programmers on standby 24/7.
And by now, they could have 10 people working on it.

We are talking big money that we customers are loosing right now.

CRYPTSY CAN YOU PLEASE PUT MORE AND BETTER PROGRAMMERS ON YOUR PAYROLL.

(b) a jump the queue scam
is not improbable, but would mean that cryptsy is completely corrupt, and can never
be trusted ever again. Either you would belong to that select group that is allowed
to jump the queue, and trade before anyone else does ...

... - or you loose out a lot whenever you use cryptsy.

I would be sad if that were the case, really.

Then: LET ME INTO THAT GROUP PLEASE, CRYPTSY.

But I don't think such a corruption is necessary, just with normal business,
cryptsy can get so incredibly rich that they don't need to play foul games.

(c) a direct market manipulation.

It would be quite clever, actually.

For 6 hours, Cryptsy allows less coins through than are asked for
- the logical consequence is a huge increase in price.

Their gain? As they control the inflow, they can cash-out at the peak.  Clever clever.

The question here is rather: if not, why are they not using (c) *hahahaha*

AS SOME OF US COULD NOT BENEFIT FROM THIS,
PLEASE REPEAT IT IN THE NEXT WEEK.
And friends: Please alert me then, please :-)

If I get my turn, e.g. later on today
- that strategy of hiding my money from myself would actually be in my interest,
as strange as that might sound: Cryptsy is slowing down our dumping,
in order to keep the price up. Thank you, Cryptsy!

(d) they protect me from selling now for an undervalued price
Cryptsy is on my side, and feels with me, and knows how important this will be for me.
And they sense how much more the price will climb today;
and by hiding my money, they protect me from selling prematurely.

Let's just hope that is true.
My guess is the real peak will be at 16:00 GMT.

(e) I don't understand it yet
Then please enlighten me.
I am really curious.

EDIT: What I would never have expected, naive me:
It could be plain and simple, I didn't come up with it, but several others report:

(f) theft.
Someone on the inside of cryptsy is stealing money.
(s)he would get be able to get the private keys of the deposit target address.

So far I have found these reports of theft, allegedly proven by having seen the sum moving through wallets:
#17 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=449762.msg4948468#msg4948468
#3083 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=404364.msg4947616#msg4947616
#3096 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=404364.msg4947959#msg4947959
#3117 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=404364.msg4948689#msg4948689

But to steal would not make sense, for the same reasons as in (b).
Cryptsy's profit model is better than any shortsighted illegal scam could ever be.

I still hope it's (d).
Or (a) and they invite me to work for them.
Or (b), and they invite me to the priviledged group who can jump the queue :-)

What a fascinating day!

 Smiley

Damn nice analysis, I couldn't agree more on everything you said.
502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTC] Vertcoin - Adaptive N-factor in Scrypt - No more ASICs on: February 07, 2014, 03:28:45 PM
GENTLEMEN we have optimized our stratum with custom features to get some great results with VTC... this is with only 30Mh/s of power.  The payouts are HUGE!!!  Come join up and get some great payouts!

VTC.DEDICATEDPOOL.COM

Benefits of Mining on DEDICATEDPOOL.COM

  • Backups every 30 minutes of the databases and wallets to protect your mining endeavours.
  • Full 24/7 support available at admin@dedicatedpool.com
  • Mine uninterrupted - dedicated servers w/redundancy, DDoS protection.
  • Trustworthy admins who care about your experience and mining.

** warning this is an advanced coin.  You need a custom version of CGMINER to mine it (instructions on our home page of http://vtc.dedicatedpool.com).  You can also join ##Dedicatedpool to get some configuration help.  It's big payouts if you can mine it, but i'll take a bit of work!

I would love to switch to your pool, but last time time I used it for mining VTC it didn't give me accepted shares. What's up with that?

Just an idea but to prevent having two topics for the same thing, how about locking this one and continue in the bigger one?

504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The big VTC Vertcoin settings thread on: February 07, 2014, 12:14:33 AM
I upped my XFX DD 7950 (TDKC) to 1070/1500 from 1040/1495 (running -I 20 and TC of 21712) and I now hit about 315 kh/s. I tried J3TW4V3's settings and was greeted by lots of HW errors....

I even disabled the other 2 cards in the system and run just the XFX and they didn't go away.
Try J3TW4V3's settings again but reboot your miner completely before testing, worked wonders for me before!

Here they are with a small adjustment: (Made fan speed go up to 100%)
--scrypt-vert -o pool:port -u user -p pass --lookup-gap 2 -g 2 -I 13 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 6912 --auto-fan --gpu-fan 30-100 --temp-cutoff 90 --temp-overheat 85 --temp-target 72 gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-engine 1070

i often restart my miner within bamt but if you mean to restart bamt entirely, i can try that.
Exactly, that. Try rebooting the hardware completely, and see what the results are. Also, you could try deleting the .bin files so it builds new ones. You never know! Smiley

If it helps anyone out there:

xfx DD R7950 = 375k/h-380k/h Hits 380k/h-383k/h with primary monitor off... Temp= 73C fan sits at 47% 0 REJECTS 0 H/W after 2hrs

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 200
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

Hope this helps

26hr mining results with my current config

That indeed is impressive, especially for an XFX card! I see you both overclocked the GPU-Engine and the GPU-Memory.

Maybe that's the culprit here as I'm running 1150/1250 (stock = 900/1250), which definitely seems to get me the highest hashrates on NORMAL scrypt coins. I guess Vertcoin is a totally different story.....

Got my Vertminer (v0.5.3) running stable, but it's far from optimized. Hope to get things running better with some help via this thread. Smiley

Currently running 4x Gigabyte 7950 WindForce 3 REV2.0 (Windows 7 x64, 8GB RAM, Catalyst 12.8 ) @ ~270KH/s each, totalling ~1.100KH/s.

508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin Settings/Configs (How To Mine VertCoin) on: February 06, 2014, 04:47:49 PM
I am clueless......

I have 2 x Sapphire Tri-X 290x cards...

I am running the perfectly fine at 988 Khz each on any "normal" scrypt alt coin. Using I 20, 24600 thread conc, 1000 gpu engine. 1500 memory. This gives me NO HW at all.

Now I wanted to transition over to Vect coins... this has ended up in a total fail...

The miner I have currently has 4 gb ram.

Using anything higher then 8192 tc makes the cards go disabled. Using any intensity higher then 13 makes the HW run mad. Going i13 and tc 8192 gives me a hash rate of about 280khz per card which is way less it should be. Using intensity 19-20 gives me around 470khz but then the hardware errors are INSANE. I have tried to adjust the config file so many times and it all ends up with the same results.

I am using vectminer 0.5.3

I am in dire need of your help here!

Thanks in advance!

/T
Try adding some extra memory to your system, I believe going from 4GB to 8GB of RAM will solve a lot of - still weird - issues.
509  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The big VTC Vertcoin settings thread on: February 05, 2014, 10:47:48 PM
I'm a bit surprised by the 7950 results I have been seeing in this thread. I modified almost nothing from my config from when i was mining scrypt, and I fired up vertminer in a modified bamt 1.1 setting (using this mod https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=404364.msg4668635#msg4668635) and here is what I get:

Powercolor 7950 PCS+ - 314.5 kh/s
core/mem 1070/1500,
stock vddc,
thread-concurrency of 21712,
gpu-threads 1,
lookup-gap 1
intensity 20,
worksize 256
temperature is 74C at 59% fan (set to auto)

XFX 7950 DD (TDKC) - 307.7 kh/s
core/mem 1040/1495,
stock vddc,
thread-concurrency of 21712
gpu-threads 1,
lookup-gap 1
intensity 20,
worksize 256
temperature is 73C at 86% fan (set to auto)

No HW errors and a 0.4% reject rate.

I also have a 5770 in the same system running at 83.1 kh/s
core/mem 910/1250,
vddc 1.100,
thread-concurrency of 3100,
gpu-threads 1,
lookup-gap 1
intensity 18,
worksize 256
temperature is 67C (fan not registering a speed apparently. might be too low)

This is all running on a very old system that consists of a DFI NF4 Ultra-D with a single core Opteron 146 CPU and 1GB DDR. I see no correlation between amount of system memory and thread-concurrency settings. My other system runs with 4GB of DDR2 and the results i get for my 7950's in scrypt are the same.

I was starting to wonder if I could go higher by changing my TC, but from what I see, i'm probably pushing the limit already.

I have another rig running 2 more 7950's and a 270x on bamt 1.3. If I have time, I will modify my bamt 1.3 for vertminer and see how it performs.

EDIT: ASUS DirectCU II TOP R9 270X in BAMT 1.3 - 191 kh/s
core/mem 1100/1250,
vddc stock,
thread-concurrency of 12288,
gpu-threads 1,
lookup-gap 1
intensity 19,
worksize 256

Those are some great speeds with your 7950 cards. On the exact same settings (except for lookup-gap 1) I'm getting a maximum of ~280KH/s per card, using 4 cards. Are you using optimized binary files by any chance?

Hey guys!

Usually I only read instead of actually post, but in all honesty I think Coino and it's amazing supportive community deserve one hell of an exception. I have both been actively following and mining Coino for the past week and it's just amazing how much positive energy I see wherever I read or hear about Coino.

Me - and many others - have a lot of trust in this coin and am certain it has a bright future ahead. Besides that I'm trying to involve as many people as possible to also believe in Coino.

So a big KUDOS to the dev team, the pools, and everyone else for the massive continued support. Really, if there's anything I can do for the community besides mining just hit me up! Smiley

The first few hours of running I get around 640KH/s, but after about 4+ hours it drops back to 580KH/s. What could be causing this?

Also I set Trixx to VDDC 1075, while cgminer is showing 1250v.. Am I missing something?

Compare card voltage in cgminer with the VDDC in Trixx..
