521  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: What You Need to Know on: January 29, 2018, 10:10:46 AM
Is It An Asset of Value Like a DaVinci or Gold?
No, it is digital code (“bits”) which is transferred from one owner’s computer to another.

Bitcoins, like all currencies, are not backed by any tangible asset of value. Like dollars, euros and pounds, bitcoin is “fiat money” established by a government or other entity as a means to facilitate trading in goods and services (the word fiat is derived from the Latin, “let it be done”).

Currency Exchange Rates Need Stability

Consumers rely on collective trust in agreeing to exchange one currency for another.

Who Would Trust Bitcoins Rather Than U.S. Dollars or Gold?
1. People who have no faith in the ability of central banks to avoid hyper-inflation.

2. People who need to transact in secret, avoiding the ability of all governments to monitor them.

This is definitely the future of our  digital payments and banks should get into this game sooner then later Wink

524  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: IOS Token (IOST) Ready to boom the market on: January 29, 2018, 08:56:38 AM
I like these guys , they seem active and serious about their project. I also trade IOS for a couple of time and turned to be profitable.

I think at the end of 2018 will turn out to be a very good investment!

525  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Are you using a hardware wallet for your coins? on: January 29, 2018, 08:32:59 AM
I see many talking on this and also talks about the exchanges that are not that safe ...

To me , for my 200$ funds Smiley) , let's say I will recover but when u're growing and have x1000 more that could mean something.

are you having one of this?

526  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Where to put $20k? on: January 29, 2018, 08:15:34 AM
Hey guys,

So I know I need to do my own research before investing in anything, and I plan to continue to do so.

However, I am very confident in the Crypto market in February ongoing and am planning on wiring over $20,000 USD tomorrow to invest.

I would like to hear some suggestion on what to do with that. I plan on taking each of these suggestions and doing some serious research on them, but I need a good place to start.

Two coins I see at least rising a little bit once we officially get out of this dip are XRB and DRGN.

Let me know your thoughts and suggestions. They will be much appreciated!

Hi J,

I would go with 50% on Bitcoin & Ethereum, the rest I will probably open coinmarketcap.com and make a research on first 20 or so. It is so much potential over there.

I will also give some credit like 5% or so to some that are at the very begining and maybe have the coin price at 0.01 $ or something... Just my 2 cents!

Cheers and good luck, could be cool to let us know how u managed this funds !

Still looking forward to get this goal achieved!

531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Advice for Newbies - Day trading VS Long Term - POLL on: January 28, 2018, 03:43:12 PM
If I were you, I would add a third option "Both". If you are a good trader you can keep a percentage of your profit long-term just in case...
If you are a bad trader you could trade fewer alts than the coins you hold.
In any case, having a plan and sticking with it makes it easier when decisions are to be made.
I am a bad trader so I'm trading only the 10% of my total investment.

It seems I cannot have the option to edit the poll but u are right , a small part could be left to be played. Even so, it takes time if you're willing to make the daily trades as well. I think it's really up to your skills and plans, cheers!
532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DeepOnion: Bitcointalk Jr Members Can Still Apply For Airdrops on: January 28, 2018, 03:19:53 PM
It's a little bit confusing. I understand from title that Jr Member CAN participate but don't have a signature anymore, but they announced that Is ok not to show the link as long as the BB code is "there" .

.. so Jr Members can JOIN now with no Signature or the old ones that subscribed are to remain as agreed?
533  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: have airdrops been beneficial? on: January 28, 2018, 02:46:58 PM
It's really up to you and how do you rate that coin. I mean some coins can really have a huge potential and good whitepaper so that u would be willing to participate but others are just time wasters in my opinion.

Bounties are the way to go but again is the same thing because it will also be up to you on how do you find that coin!
534  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A MUST Read for everyone new to cryptocurrency! on: January 28, 2018, 01:43:56 PM
I'm going to assume that you intend to add links to this.

May I suggest that you edit the title to something less clickbait-y?

Yes i just did, was working on that, thanks
535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Journey - 1 Bitcoin until the end of 2018 - 01BTC on: January 28, 2018, 01:26:47 PM
Some asked me to add my ETH and BTC wallets for donations, not sure if thats allowed to do here, I did not found anything about this in moderation rules. Any idea about this who should I ask or where to read ? Cheers!
536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have 12 Bitcoin. What should I do??? on: January 28, 2018, 01:20:13 PM

537  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin can't push prices higher on: January 28, 2018, 01:05:44 PM

538  Other / Beginners & Help / A MUST Read for everyone new to cryptocurrency! on: January 28, 2018, 12:56:44 PM
Here is some stuff i considered essential for everyone that is new to this, found this on my own on another thread an saved it on a notepad Smiley :

Do not trust people! Checkout for some good reasoning.

This thread has some solid security protocols.

Don't make threads or posts solely for putting up referral links, that's what signatures are for.

Be careful with PayPal, deepceleron's thread does a good job explaining why PayPal is bad to use when exchanging bitcoins.

Want to know what wallets are out there? Checkout Bitcoin Wallets - Which, what, why?.

Want to know how to create a really secure wallet? Checkout this thread for a good guide.

There's a lot of weird terminology, this thread is a good guide.

Are you looking to earn some Bitcoins? Checkout How to earn Bitcoins - Part 1.

If you're looking for free bitcoin giveaways, checkout the games and rounds subforum. WARNING: It does contain gambling as well. Altcoin giveaways are not allowed! Checkout this thread for more information Giveaway threads are not allowed

A warning about Alt-Coins: Almost all of the alt-coins out there are going to be a waste of time. They're being created to take advantage of people who get super excited about different things and then get pumped and dumped.

Be careful about wasting time with too many alt coins. Be careful about downloading files, seems like there's plenty of wallet stealers around hidden as alt coin miners.
