How do I know if I'm in the correct chain
I did exactly what Tranz recommend: and I got
getcheckpoint "height" : 5939276
getinfo "blocks" : 5939276
LOL. my OCD is twitching that its called 'height' in one place and 'blocks' in another. inconsitent labelling. ow ow ow ow!

Thanks for the good instruction on your page, dnp! http://dognose.net/~ndl/by the way: the whole suggestions of getting NDL on an exchange etc again - is this possible at all, as we are not the devs of this coin? thank-you! i'm willing to add/modify those instructions if given suggestions. in the back of my mind i keep thinking i'd like to open an exchange just for obscure altcoins that i support out of my whimiscal nature and the name of the coin. and possibly other coins that bribe me with a monthly listing fee. it would only exchange with LTC and Doge markets and no BTC support since presumably such obscure coins would not achieve high enough valuations. butt... i need to locate *good* open-source exchange code to run on linux. and i need to be convinced the exchange fees would pay the monthly virtual server costs after the first couple months of setup and operation. say $15euro/month to start and increasing with higher usage loads -- this seems very very unlikely without finding altcoins willing to pay monthly listing fees in BCH, LTC or Doge. i'd also run iquidus explorers for each altcoin on the exchange. and of course provide download links for the inevitably modified coin daemons/wallets i run, along with a simple web page describing the coin (like my above ndl link.) i can make the time to admin (and minor modify) stuff, just not the focused undisturbed time to develop new code and of course there will be dealing with DDOS attacks (i'd be inclined to just let them happen, until the botnet gets bored and moves on to other victims.) but, alas, this is all just an unlikely dream

There is no "coin control features" under Options in HBN Wallet version v2.0.1.0-g-V2.0
Thanks
settings->options->display->display coin control features (experts only) Got it. Thanks, Now, I clicked "inputs..." I selected 10000 and click "OK". Is this it? Thanks again once you select (checkmarks) a bunch of smaller peieces that is at least worth 10000, you hit okay and that gets you back to the main "SEND" interface. you should now see some numbers for things like 'quantity', 'amount', 'fee', and 'after fee' displayed just under the INPUTS button. you then have to send those coins to yourself (your own HBN address) in the "pay to" box also set the 'custom change address' to the same address you enter for "pay to" then enter an 'amount' of 10000 (or whatever size.) then hit the big SEND button. i created for myself (under the 'receive coins' tab) an address i call consolidation for this purpose. oh, like any SENDing of coins, you will be charged a tiny processing fee. i find its worth it to keep my patience level sane.

There is no "coin control features" under Options in HBN Wallet version v2.0.1.0-g-V2.0
Thanks
settings->options->display->display coin control features (experts only) also in the bottom right corner of your QT wallet window there is a tiny up-arrow circular icon. if you hover your mouse over it it should give a pop-up tip indicating an estimated time until the next staking. oh... i just noticed the button is grey if a passworded wallet has not had its password entered, and green if active. is yours passworded? did you unlock the wallet with that password from under the "WALLET' options? that could explain not staking in 3 days too. and your wallet *should* be passworded, especially with 400k coin

I have around 400K HBN and the wallet is open since three days and I cannot stake. Is this normal? Thanks
in your QT wallet enable through options "coin control features" then under "SEND" look under the "INPUTS" button. i find lumps less than 5,000 coins just take too long to stake for my level of patience, i actually use 10,000 i consolidate lumps by selecting several smaller lumps and sending those coins to an address i own. i set both the 'change" address and the "to" address to be the same (my own address) and send nice even lump sizes. of course tihs pocess will lose any 'potential' stake the smaller pieces have earned up to this point in time -- the stake timer is reset for those coins. if you already have lumps between 1,000 and 5,000 i'd probably just be patient and wait for them to eventually stake before you bother merging them into larger lumps. you also do not want gigantic lumps, the maximum stake i believe is 250 coins at a time. a gigantic lump would be worth more than 250 in stake interest in the interval taken to stake (i believe there is something like one or two weeks minimum stake wait time.) when you do stake, that lump will most likely split in half and you will have to remerge them. unless you have your stakesplit and stakemerge options set perfectly. dont ask me how, i dont use them this is why i use 10,000 size lumps, lets me go a round of staking without paying attention since the resultant two 5000+interest lumps will stake in a reasonable time. if you find this explaination useful, set your 'stake-for-charity' address to my address at about 50% rate. lol... just kidding

Its back. I know I keep saying that I have to move it to better hardware. Going to happen sooner or later. -Dave
What kind of hardware is needed? Could it be run on a raspberry pi? Not really, needs a bit more power. In theory it could work, in reality it would probably be more grief then it's worth. I have a few older i5 based systems that I can probably cannibalize starting Sept 1st. Probably put one of those in. -Dave and the irony is i have an iquidus NDL instance (and others ) running on my 8core 24gig AMD linux system, but have only a consumer/home internet connection and so really cant invite outside access. especially with bell.ca network blocking http/https traffic (to all ports) transiting its network to what it deems to be 'home users'. i'm not even a bell.ca customer here it is, dont use it http://coins.dognose.net:3001/my firewall will limit to 3 or 4 connections, so you may get denied, if your internet traffic routes over bell.ca 's network, it wont work either. explorer updates at 10 minute intervals.

You can get greedy, but we still need someway of getting the coin out there. Need to get it on an exchange so we get some kind of exposure.
okay, one cpu core 6 hours day increased to two cpu cores 11 hours a day such greed. much noodles have you looked into nlexch.com ? its a small low volume exchange, but if you can convince them to list they dont charge for the listing. https://www.nlexch.com/coinlisting

oh wow... nearly three years ago i put up a fulltime node at coins.dognose.net and set up a few hours daily cpu mining to keep the blockchain moving and a cheesy info website at http://coins.dognose.net/~ndl/ then promptly got busy and distracted and havent really looked-in since. oh, and an Abe block explorer that was a totally useless lump of crap i see a community has risen up now. even a new wallet assembled and an iquidus explorer. coolness! so, i limited myself to a few hours automated daily cpu mining after an initial period of real hashing to be 'fair' and not run away with a (more) massive booty of ndl, and to simply keep the chain moving and alive while the world slept. is my moderate behavior no longer necessary, can i get greedy again? arrrrrr!

So did a bit of calculating on the remainder of the CAP fund. There is 22.5 million left. Here's my thoughts.
1) Leave 5 million untouched to stake and use for bounties or whatever. 2) Put 2MM on exchange to sell at 10-20 sats. Help fill out the sell side and use it for putting some back on the buy side as well. 3) Move the remainder to my personal wallet.(15MM ish)
Over the last 4 to 5 years, I have put in 500 to 600 hours of work, pretty much with no much to gain. What money I did get, was based on what I bought or staked/mined on my own, no premining, or anything like that.
I would like to do a small bit more of work for CAP, but unless get something out of my time, I just can't commit to anything. I have so very little time these days, and I can't continue to work for free. So the 15 million at 10 sats, would average out to about $12-15/hr give or take, with the older work and the planned new work. Considering my current skill set is worth close to $90/hr in the market place. I think this is pretty fair.
So let me know everyone thinks. If this seems un-fair, no worries. I will have to kill the reminder of the fix money and I'll just move on.
i'm cool with it.

Soon Novaexchange start working again, then I pay for block explorer and add CAPS to vote list. Then you just pay for votes.
novaexchange just announced that they will not be accepting USA users. it does not affect me, but it's probably not going to be the best choice as the 'only' exchange for a new coin. nlexch.com may be a good place to list. it's free. sure, it's low volume, but volumes on that exchange should naturally grow as it gets a greater variety of coins. https://www.nlexch.com/coinlistingthe exchange has already saved my butt with franko, new-casino and dnotes2

i'm wondering if its adding the self-send amounts but failing to subtract the amounts coming from the same address as itself?
and what prevents you from checking all that in explorer ? nothing preventing me. other than only having 1 day weekends from work and not actually caring if it gets fixed.

Hi. Today's morning my wallet stopped sync and still not started. No connections at all or one connection to one node which is seemed in a wrong chain. Does somebody have the same problem? Or it's only mine one?
http://cap.altcoinwarz.com/that explorer's main/recent block page is a bit deceptive. the hash it displays is for the last (possibly only) transaction in the block and not the block itself. if you enter the block number into the search box you will then be shown the block's actual hash along with all the transaction hashes contained within the block. yep, that's how iquidus works by default. you don't need to enter the block number manually, hover or click on it in the leftmost column to see the blockhash still, i had an initial panic attack also, it seems to overstate my holdings for an address. i often self-send to that address to consolidate lumps to make larger staking units. the self-sends could be either one input or two inputs (one being it's own address, or my mining address. two inputs being both its own address and my mining address) i'm wondering if its adding the self-send amounts but failing to subtract the amounts coming from the same address as itself? [edit: let me restate the inputs, it could be one source-address input or two source-address inputs, zero or more from itself and zero or more from my mining address. not actually limited to just one or two inputs, but one or two sources with possibly multiple blocks each] yes i know about split/combine blocks options, i'm a micromanager
