Nobody ROI's with newly bought mining equipment anymore. Difficulty too high and price too low.
And people are stupid enough to not be able to math out the facts, and continue to buy ASICs.
Pretty much this. If you have money to ''invest'' just buy the BTC you'll end up with more BTC than if you mined.

Bulls make money, bears make money, pigs get slaughtered.
What about a manbearpig ? The part man can be either one of all the three you named, the part bear makes money and the part pig get slaughtered. How is that possible ?

What I find funny is that the more people turning off hardware right now the harder it makes for the rest of the network to survive. If we lose 50% of the hashpower tomorrow it will take 1 month to get to the next difficulty re-target which will make it harder for miners to pay the power fees.
Flashnews, people are serving their own interest first. Are you shocked ?

I don't think bitcoin will drop under 100, the bottom was 160 and that's it.
Thanks for your thorough analysis.

Only been asked a Gazillion times in even more threads. Not too hard to find.
Edit: And with your level of message activity in these forums, I'm sure you have seen the arguments more than enough. So if you want to promote P2Pool just be honest and start a thread that promotes it instead of this bait and switch technique.
Why don't u answer instead of being a mega dick ?

What is the cheapest way to run a full node. I do have a few external HDDs and rasp pi laying around. No unused laptops though.
Suggestions ? ideas ?
You'll have difficulty running a full node on a pi. It doesn't have enough ram and will end up using swap. Would it be possible using a bananapi or cubietruck or something similar? Can you say something about the "realistic" minimal requirements? I'd also interested in how much traffic this would cause per month. 3-5gb upload per day i heard.

Bitmain did the honourable thing.
Honorable thing would have been to never open preorders. Bitmain did not do that. Then again, people seem to forget that Bitmain works for Bitmain and is no angel.

I keep about 80% of my bitcoins in my Coinbase (US company) online vault, and about 20% online in my BTC-E (foreign company) account. I always have a teeny tiny worry in the back of mind that I'll wake up one day and the headlines will read "US Government bans Bitcoin, freezes all Bitcoin assets" and I will be unable to access my Coinbase coins. Am I paranoid?
You keep 100% of your coins on online exchanges where you do not control the private keys....... punch yourself hard in the face. This. You currently own 0 bitcoins.
