1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: The market is falling sharply on: September 07, 2018, 04:39:42 AM
Considering looking for reverse-ICOs. Reverse ICOs are businesses introducing a token into their existing business ecosystem.

That means they have existing revenue streams, customers and infrastructure to deploy their token into. This means they can accept fiat during their token sale and don't have a complete dependence on funds raised to get their projects off the ground.

It also means it isn't a scam. No licensed business can run off into the sunset with your money, especially if you pay in fiat.

A good business knowledge and working product means they have a good idea of how to deliver something to their customers and the broader market.

This article provides a good overview of the concept.

I am impressed by people's dedication to receiving free tokens. Everyone steps up their efforts when it comes to receiving something for (almost) nothing.

We are constantly harassed on the Telegram at our ICO by people asking on the status of their "free" tokens. The number is overwhelming at times

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency will ultimately come full circle back to having centralized banks on: September 06, 2018, 06:43:28 AM
I think you're missing the point.

The revolution is not cryptocurrency. The revolution is blockchain. Blockchain will usher in a new age of honesty and transparency that the vast majority of the population both want and need.

If we get to a point where blockchain gets the wealthy and powerful to be more accountable and have more visibility over their shady behaviour, ultimately that should deliver a fairer and more transparent society.

Even if banks do return (or stay), hopefully they will return to their original model of helping the local community (and poor) in escaping poverty and accumulating personal wealth without being exploited by others, which ultimately the banks have ended up doing themselves in the competition that this current economic policy has encouraged them to do.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What coins are worth buying NOW on: September 06, 2018, 06:39:09 AM
Wait until Bitcoin drops below $6000, then buy. It looks like a lot of buy walls are set up for $5500, there could be a big jump from there to $7-8k.

Similar story for Litecoin as its fortunes are generally attached to BTC.

For tokens still at ICO, check out our token sale in the signature below!

The PlayChip is an ERC20 token designed to become the universal gaming token.

The PlayChip will serve at the core of an online gaming ecosystem that already consists of seven platforms, with many more to come. The ecosystem supports a user base of over 1 million people in over 70 different nations, and is on track to turn over a combined US$430m in 2018 alone.

The PlayChip is set to become the universal token for sports betting, gaming, fantasy sports, and eSports in an operating business with over one million players on seven platforms in 70 countries.

PlayChip’s mission is to deliver the world’s biggest incentivised, blockchain-enabled sports community and gaming ecosystem.

The PlayChip is set to disrupt the US$3 trillion unregulated gambling industry by providing unparalleled trust and transparency, ease of use, lower fees, and provably fair betting environments. The introduction of the blockchain will see the PlayChip offer a superior experience to traditional sports betting systems.

Surely todays annihilation of BTC will be the final one since the return of the bulls. If there is no bull run in the next six weeks things will look grim for the next year or so in crypto I believe.

Unfortunately, this market still depends heavily on BTC and probably will for the next 3-4 years until mass adoption (15%+ is achieved).
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Provably Fair Gaming — The Ultimate Industry For Blockchain Disruption on: September 06, 2018, 04:41:18 AM
With cryptocurrency, traditional financial models have been targeted for decentralisation.

Dubai has indicated that they are going to migrate their entire government to the blockchain - https://www.forbes.com/sites/suparnadutt/2017/12/18/dubai-sets-sights-on-becoming-the-worlds-first-blockchain-powered-government/#70cc04bd454b

Another industry set to receive a massive disruption from blockchain is online gaming. Through provably fair betting, the blockchain will completely remove the bookmaker from the equation, establishing a ‘trustless’ system in which a smart contract will execute the terms of the bet following verification from the blockchain.

$3 trillion is believed to flow through regulated and unregulated betting markets annually! Online gambling revenues will account for over $56 billion this year, all via platforms in which bettors have no visibility over the flow of the transaction with their vendor.

In a few short years, it is likely that every online gaming site will be expected to post a ‘real-time’ ledger of the entirety of transactions within their gaming ecosystem. As the technology evolves it could even be expected that it become a mandatory requirement from regulatory authorities.

The PlayChip is one such project paving the way to provably fair gaming. The PlayChip aims to become the universal gaming token, and will be the exclusive online cryptocurrency of an existing gaming ecosystem that includes sports betting, casino games, fantasy sports and eSports in one of the most diverse set of gaming platforms the world has seen.

The PlayChip will have an internal network called the PlayChain which will post real-time updates of every transaction that occurs within the ecosystem, viewable by every user of the platform. These transactions will then be periodically posted to the Ethereum blockchain throughout the day, viewable to anybody around the world.

This level of transparency is unheard of in online gaming, where bookmakers are generally loathe to reveal the inner workings of their operations. But for the PlayChip, it is merely a natural evolution for an industry that has long been crying out for one.

I know gaming and gambling is not everybody's cup of tea, but it's been a part of our culture for millennia and won't be going anywhere in a hurry.

What are your thoughts? Will blockchain help make gambling more transparent? Will it help open up the market and allow P2P models to continue?
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the safest and most reliable altcoin? on: September 06, 2018, 04:31:23 AM
Unfortunately as long as BTC holds 35%+ of the market cap they'll all remain pretty volatile unless there is a genuine demand for their use rather than just be fodder for crypto traders.

Look for genuine utility tokens that have a market for demand. Tokens such as the PlayChip will be in use across seven different platforms in the global gaming market by over one million users in 70 countries. Continual use and demand should help stave off dramatic price fluctuations that every token seems to incur when Bitcoin does one of its plummets

What do you mean by "set up an altcoin"? As in an ERC20 token?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Verge: calm before the storm? on: September 05, 2018, 07:29:11 AM
I'll put my hand up and say I lost a lot of money on Verge.

Reason being I felt that the porn partnership would help lead to mass adoption. Gambling and porn were two of the industries that skyrocketed use of the internet in the mid-late 90s and helped drive mass adoption to every other industry that now does most of its business online. I feel like these two industries could do the same again for blockchain, as they are both slightly niche and frowned upon markets (in some sectors, though again the internet helped a lot with changing that).

I think longer term Verge shouldn't have too much trouble re-estabilishing itself. It's had a shocker 2018 though and really needs to rebuild its credibility in the market

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Ethereum Actually Heading for a Collapse? on: September 05, 2018, 07:03:09 AM
There's a number of blockchains offering what ETH does with superior speeds. However the ETH brand is still to strong to disappear completely.

Never count out ETH. Buterin is a genius technologically, just needs to get the business/economic/market mastery. I'm sure ETH will continue to be strong in the short to mid term
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: what do you think guys of these 3 altcoins ?! on: September 05, 2018, 07:01:33 AM
this is a very odd attention seeking post. No link? No whitepaper? What stage of ICO/dev are they in?
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin (LTC): Can it reach $200.00 by the end of the year? on: September 05, 2018, 06:30:27 AM
Anyone who thinks LTC won't hit $200 is insane. It hit well over $250 at the start of this year during the big bull run of Bitcoin.

Once mainstream adoption of cryptos begins, Litecoin will be one of the projects at the forefront. It's been in development since 2011, has one of the leading tech teams and a well connected founder in Charlie Lee.

I believe Litecoin will hit $1000 within a year or two once the bulls return and confidence in the market is renewed. I am still optimistic of it closing out the year at $200. We all know that in crypto, anything can happen.

Fingers crossed
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO]HoweyCoins: the only BitcoinTalk-endorsed ICO - GUARANTEED PROFIT on: September 05, 2018, 06:25:27 AM
A project worthy of being analyzed and studied, after all, is not every day we found a project recommended by big names in this forum, so some investment should be carried out and as mentioned above there is a tendency to replace the BTC here in the forum. In conclusion, leaving the optimism aside, we should look seriously at the project proposal, understand the meaning and only then sit back and wait to go to the moon.

So what happened after you looked seriously at the project proposal? Did you understand the meaning?
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO]HoweyCoins: the only BitcoinTalk-endorsed ICO - GUARANTEED PROFIT on: September 05, 2018, 06:23:47 AM
It's testament to how many people reply to hype on here purely to increase their activity/rating. I saw a similar test on social media recently with an article posted

"Nobody reads anymore"

with all these people underneath commenting why. If you actually bothered to click the link, the article was empty.

Good initiative from the SEC. It should be pretty clear when a token is "guaranteeing" dividends that it is fraudulent. An eight page white paper isn't exactly saying much...

Here is the April Fools reading prank. Serve us all some good!

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptonex is a scam! BEWARE! on: September 04, 2018, 06:46:21 AM
Just came across this after researching them. They approached asked us to list on their exchange for 1 BTC. Their exchange only has their own coin, BTC, ETH and some fiat options.

When I asked them why they were pursuing an ICO, they said that they had a bunch of ICOs on their page already they had listed. There was no link to any ICO section on their site. Quite strange, I assumed it was an imposter that contacted me, but after reading the above I'm not so sure!
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Just RELAX, it will be OK! on: September 04, 2018, 04:32:38 AM
This thread makes me feel better. We are all hurting, every HODLER in 2018 has lost crazy amounts of money!

Keep hustling, keep doing your day job, don't worry about the cryptos and allow them to sort themselves out. If the team and technology are good, the product will thrive.
