401  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Canaan Avalon A7 Group Buy - Hosting at CryptoBoreas (Canada) on: September 07, 2017, 12:15:55 AM
Well since the recent group buy of Philip is frozen we have some choices...

Sounds like he is still going to see if Canaan will accept smaller batch buys to allow BTC payment..
His after all in touch with an official rep from Canaan..(Steve  forgothislastname).....

So maybe we can still group just us Canucks together for a smaller batch but have Phil execute it..
Doubt Canaan would do the shipping to all the individuals in Canada..
We would probably have to take shipment from him..or sidehack etc..

Just exploring options to see if any interested..
I still think this may be our best shot at getting some A7's...at a decent price..in near future..low risk

.site sells out so fast and resellers are too risky and greedy..

BUT NO LEAFS FANS

Check out this operation...https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1498901.0
By flush mounted shrouds ..I meant .... exhaust is well vented to hot aisle..
See second pic from above post...

they are flush but looks like they are not well sealed/shrouded to prevent hot air returning..sloppy considering the rest of set-up is sweet

Think .....lots of little round windows where fan fits just right to hole...to exhaust..rather than just one big window with a zillion gaps for air to return..
408  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: what now ? miners in hand no location ? on: September 06, 2017, 09:42:04 PM
ah yes...of course....and sadly some newbie sucker will probably end up paying way too much and then also not be mining with them or never make back his ROI let alone any coins over the cost before the machine dies..
Been there...done that...have the scars to prove it.
409  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: what now ? miners in hand no location ? on: September 06, 2017, 09:32:57 PM
Are you serious? excuse my french but...
Then why Thefck did you buy so many? If you had no plan no place to power them...
Just to flip them for quick profit obviously..
Nice to know they won't be mining or adding to the difficulty anytime soon...
Also nice to know that you will need to host them and get screwed by them while burning your hardware and voiding the warranty for resale.

I have cheap electricity and plenty of power but I'm tired of getting shafted by you flippers and never able to buy direct from Bitmain..An NO I don't host...
we are a co-op of real miners NO flippers.
If you really have that many and that kind of money it sounds like you are already pretty rich and can afford to run them yourself.
So why are you here fcking whining?
410  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Creating Box/Cabinet for Miners on: September 06, 2017, 03:11:26 AM
You were better off staying in mining SUPPORT...

Anyway...
Remember... especially in your case.... HEAT IS IN the MOISTURE..A/C is really just another name for DE-humidifier..

So YES build a small room with VAPOUR BARRIER (insulation is secondary) and can be added to exterior to house the units..and make sure all units have shrouds flush sealed to cutouts in a wall which vent outside of it..
2x4's for frame & decent gage of plastic sheeting does fine..gyproc just for the exhaust wall area...
There goes your heat..

Now just make sure you keep a good volume/supply of COOL DRY CLEAN air feeding the room...
I'd run a dehumid unit inside the room...and also cut window at floor level for air intake and fit a shrouded fan to window to push fresh air intake through filters and give slight overpressure to room..dust is deadly..
You might need more cool air and need fit A/C in same fashion..just be sure compressor is outside room..
Be prepared understand that you will need to pay some serious extra electricity to keep that air supply cool and dry...

Noise will be the least of your problems...

411  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Selling 2x L3+ with APW3++ PSU included. Shipping Oct 20-30 (ALREADY PAID) on: September 06, 2017, 02:15:25 AM
So let me do some math on this "Deal"

You paid in LTC the value of $U.S. 3,500...for 2 L3's +PSU's

You don't have them in hand..In fact they won't even be shipped until late NOV...if at all?

And you want us to NOW pay you 0.75 BTC each which is $U.S. 6,750 value..

or maybe 1.35 BTC which would be $6,075 ....@BTC=$U.S. 4,500....for both RIGHT NOW...

So basically you want at minimum U.S. $2,500 but better yet, individually.
As then you would get U.S.$ 3,250 because you were lucky enough to squeeze in an order on the last batch...

And we will still need to pay tax on that WHEN it arrives...3 months from now...
And RISK that you cancelled the order or can still give bogus info so that buyer won't be able to actually receive the product?

From a guy with no rep.... no history of sales...

Even IF you are legit..which I will give you the benefit of doubt for now..

Can you see how that is not exactly an attractive situation for any buyer?
Miners take pretty big risks already..you are NOT helping.

416  Economy / Economics / Re: Why You Should Never Sell Your Bitcoins Ever on: September 05, 2017, 12:10:35 AM
Reading the responses to the recent topic titled, "I would sell all my bitcoins if…." has left me concerned.

The kinds of responses on that thread reveal a deep misunderstanding of bitcoin and the current monetary system in many of those who are speculating. Let's consider the scenario in which bitcoin reaches $1000 or let's say $10,000 per bitcoin. Many have said they will cash out if bitcoin reaches this point. Why??

If bitcoin reaches $10,000 it will have to be because the fiat currencies of the world are tumbling to worthlessness via a hyperinflation type scenario and bitcoin is the safe haven, which if you know anything about the current monetary systems of the world, you know this is inevitable. (there have been 3800 fiat currencies throughout history and EVERY SINGLE LAST ONE has crashed to worthlessness; a value of zero) Why would you then sell all of your sound money (Bitcoin) for a bunch of fiat money that is inevitably becoming worthless? I don't understand the logic in doing that.

If bitcoin ever reaches $10,000 per bitcoin, you will NEVER see me selling for fiat paper money. You may however see me having a shopping spree at Overstock.com or TigerDirect.com or NewEgg.com! I will be buying things I want with my bitcoin profits DIRECTLY WITH BITCOIN, not selling my bitcoin for paper fiat. Hopefully by then there will be many more options, perhaps even Amazon.com will be accepting bitcoin for goods and I can have my shopping spree there.

Point being, selling bitcoin for dollars seems counterproductive. Why convert your paper fiat currency into sound value storing superior bitcoin, only to sell all of your superior bitcoin back for worthless antiquated fiat currency again? Why not just spend the bitcoin itself to buy what you want instead of taking a loss by converting back into dollars which will inflate away eventually anyway?

AGREED 100%
