So it's GAME DAY.... I'm off to do the set-up...I have a volunteer cameraman to record it..

So let's see exactly how long it takes to get 8 S9's fired up...

302  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Confused About 120v versus 240v and PDUs on: September 29, 2017, 11:54:44 PM
Indeed agreed.....But I still wish to promote the idea of miners being self sufficient and independent and should know ALL aspects of their mining op..

303  Economy / Service Discussion / Did Bitmain just declare war on BTC? on: September 29, 2017, 12:12:16 AM
It seems Bitmain has just changed it's payment options to accepting ONLY BCC.

This must be seen as an attack if not an all out declaration of war against BTC.
I think it is a HUGE strategic blunder by Bitmain. But hey...who knows?

REMEMBER  CHINESE MINERS/people are NOT the ENEMY...The BANKS & GOVERNMENTS ARE..And THEY OWN ALL GOVERNMENTS.

As an ex-CEO of a Chinese Manufacturing Corp...
Experience leads me to KNOW..Jihan Wu is a puppet of much larger forces behind the scenes..
He does not have the level of control or influence the public think he does.
His greed for power and monopoly is obvious but he is a child remember.

One thing is for sure I will never mine or support or buy that shit Alt coin BCC...(And pray I will never need to eat those words)
304  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Confused About 120v versus 240v and PDUs on: September 28, 2017, 11:48:22 PM
There is a FAR cheaper and easier way....NO plugs..NO PDU's..perfectly safe and legal...EASY DIY.

First..220v PSU's are FAR more efficient and effective and more durable..

Asic draw so much amperage 220v is a FAR wiser choice..

30Amp 220v Breakers are VERY COMMON and cheap  and easy to DIY lines to junction boxes to connect PSU's

305  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Question For Miners Using 220 V or 230 Volt... on: September 28, 2017, 11:31:36 PM
In North America..wires are standardized by GAUGE.....18,16,14,12,10 etc...

220v is used exclusively for HIGH AMPERAGE.....20, 30, 40 amp are most common usage for home and light industry

I have NEVER seen a 220v line smaller than 14 AWG (Note 16 AWG gauge is SMALLER wire than 14 AWG)

AMPERAGE will usually dictate which gauge you MUST use..
40-60Amp heavy commercial welder uses 10 AWG
A 30 amp line is VERY common for stoves..Dryers. large A/C.. it usually uses 14 or 12 AWG...

MY power cable for my Bitmain PSU's are ..

http://ca.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=VL-0124-05-200virtualkey68600000virtualkey686-VL-0124-05-200

They are Hospital grade.. rated for 16Amps and 220v ....They have a C13 end for the PSU ..the other end I cut off and connect bare wires  to my 30Amp line in a junction box
No PDU... NO plugs needed

Dude, I'm sorry but they are 1300.00 on the website and not hard to buy. There is no advantage to an in hand S9. I'll sell some of mine for $3,200 too!!

314  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PDU vs NO PDU on: September 26, 2017, 10:45:16 PM
Well well what a strange question coming from a..

Quote "Bitmaster INC PROFESSIONAL BITCOIN MINER "

Seems this scammer just can't get his act together...can't resell or find investors who will accept hash power as collateral for his big PRO mining BIZ scam and is not even sure about how to power & set up the  3 S9's on his youtube video.. oh and where are the other 197 S9's you brag about?

Thanks to VOD for smoking him out..
315  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Cleaning Mining Equipment on: September 26, 2017, 02:11:23 AM
My experience with GPU's was that air blowing is not very effective.
I used isopropyl alcohol...to much better effect...DON'T use cotton swabs they leave fibres that WILL need to be blown out when dry.
Use NON woven fibres or micro fibre cloth..

I also gave many a GPU a vigorous bath in a large tub of Isopropyl. Works great to clean out hard to reach places like cooling fins.
THEN I use air to blow out and dry the units.

(FYI I used this method routinely as official procedure for VERY EXPENSIVE delicate and sensitive Fibre Optic Components  at JDSU R&D)

The experience with GPU's taught me to be MUCH more disciplined to providing clean filtered air for my Asics.
(As did working in an ULTRA CLEAN ROOM)

I have NOT tried this method on my ASICS yet. But I plan to..

So I'm also looking for recommendations or warnings..

316  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Bitcoin Mining Setup/Power info? on: September 26, 2017, 12:41:03 AM
If you dont vent the area you are mining in, things will overheat within a few hours of turn on. You NEED active airflow to keep things cool.

L3 = 900w space heater
D3 = 1200w space heater
S9 = 1500w space heater

You have to look at the units like that and plan accordingly.

Roger that... understood..will comply..
I've hired two 3rd world refugees to hold palm leaves and wave them at the miners..and feed me grapes etc...I'm good to go...
317  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Cat 5 vs Cat 7 Ethernet Cable on: September 26, 2017, 12:36:27 AM
If your bottleneck is your cable it's better to change it to a higher speed cable.
Cat 5: 10/100 Mbps
Cat 5e: 1000 Mbps
Cat 6: 10 Gbps
Another person with useless advice. You can mine on a dial up modem it uses so little bandwidth.

Dont waste your money.

The largest bitcoin mine in the world can theoretically run their outbound connection over a single piece of cat 5. Mining uses that little bandwidth.

Meow That's helpful...more USEFUL TRUSTWORTHY ADVICE....THANKS
GREAT news...meow I don't need to worry about my ISP service being inadequate...
And meow I DON'T need their pricey package
And can use Cat5 with confidence...
318  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Almost ready to launch the farm..Check my check-list please on: September 25, 2017, 11:26:37 PM
No choice..they are thee ONLY game in town ( just south of Ottawa) They have respectable SAT stats..
BELL has abandoned the area..
319  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer s9 on: September 25, 2017, 11:24:31 PM
You also have to remember those older miners were using much older manufacturing technology. As the dies shrink on the ASICs the problems increase. You cannot company any miner made in the last 2 years with anything older, its like apples to oranges.

AHHHH...DON'T TELL ME THAT..
Bite your tongue..wash your mouth out with soap...
Shame on you..
Now spit, turn three times and SAY LONG LIVE S9's for each turn...
320  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Medium size ASIC farm on: September 25, 2017, 11:21:33 PM
With such a tiny farm there really is little need for monitoring software. There are many pools out there you can set to send you downed/slow machine alerts via email.

As far as mass pool changes there is actually a bitmain tool linked in another thread that will do whatever you need. You can use it to pull live stats from all the machines as well as re-pooling and a few misc changes I did not list.

Mining solo is a terrible idea if you want regular profits. Using nicehash is just as bad since you are basically giving them a portion of your revenue for no reason.

You can literally run 50 miners off of an ISDN connection, there is no need to run an internal proxy or anything else like that with your setup.

I wouldnt recommend any of the mining software you mentioned (minera, cryptoglance, awesome miner) because they are either made for a home user and do not scale very well when you run a fair number of miners. Others just cost too much and are inflexible with their licensing at the large scale.

Interesting and useful..Thanks..
So I Think I WILL pass on using Awesome miner..I will FIND that bitmain tool you suggest..I will check if my ISP is ISDN...
For my 8 S9's I should be fine...if Oct 1st. ever arrives
