241  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you vape? on: May 24, 2018, 11:34:28 AM
I do not vape or smoke or consume tobacco in any other form. Vaping is NOT safe, and there have been explosions of the device injuring or even killing the user.

I think if you are addicted to tobacco, then the nicotine patch or chewing gum is the best bet. If your tobacco need is minimal, you could use a tobacco based toothpaste to brush your teeth. Only don't brush your teeth ten times a day.  Cheesy

Nicotine is a mild anti-septic, hence it's been used as a toothpaste since a long time in traditional medicine.
242  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why is there so much partying, wining and dining, at Cryptocurrency conferences? on: May 24, 2018, 11:27:44 AM
Fun and games seem to be the byword at such gatherings. Why is that the case?

Maybe, there's so much risk and stress associated with their project, this is their way to unwind, relax.

Good riddance.  Wink

Why? Now, that's no way to say good-bye.  Huh

Whatever your mutual disagreement, if any long-term member is thinking of bidding Adieu, the only good thing to do is, say:

We do hope You reconsider that decision.  Maybe, start afresh with a new account. We will miss You. Good bye! Smiley

You still don't get it!   Undecided

You should be answering the queries raised on this thread rather than posting graphics-omitted posts from a noob account, and then reposting them.
246  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you believe in aliens? on: May 22, 2018, 08:02:10 AM
Simple, unicellular organisms, like bacteria might exist in lot of places in our neighbourhood of the milky way galaxy, perhaps even on Titan (Jupiter's moon) and Enceladus (Saturn's moon). Perhaps, simple multicellulars too might exist over there, like jellyfish and hydra.

But, complex animals would be rare. An ecosystem like Planet Earth would be rarest of rare.

And, intelligent life of the order of humans, would most probably be unique to our Planet Earth.
247  Local / India / Re: Is Indian Government going to regulate Crypto?? on: May 22, 2018, 05:34:54 AM
I say, guys, just wait for 2019, 2020. That's when whichever government is in power will execute the real Indian crypto policy. Until then, everything is knee-jerk, reactive.

Also, saying that Indian bureaucrats are copycats is a bit severe on them.  Most crypto policy flows out of the US and China because the big ticket players hail from their shores. In India, its a small play for now, so the government has the luxury of making mistakes, and course correcting later. As always happens in such situations, they are likely to err on the side of caution initially, meaning sticking to the trail already established by other governments.

By 2020, they would have prepared some real, sensible policy that is suitable for the Indian market.  Or, maybe, my confidence in the Indian bureaucracy is severely misplaced, and I am very delusional on this score.   Lips sealed
248  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The New York Times claims Russia plans to dictate Blockchain's future on: May 22, 2018, 04:41:08 AM
It would seem that The New York Times has been a little off-base lately in their assumptions about Russia. I don't know, but this may be more of a political calculation than it is an objective news article. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it be more likely that this is a political piece?

You are right. That's why I suspect it is planted by US intelligence/ the Pentagon.

The NYT is hugely influential, and especially so among the left, liberal types. When it publishes this kind of article, that's effectively a 'dog whistle'; a proclamation of the frame of reference from which to view Russian actions in this field.

As to how and why things led up to this stage, the reason why Russia is in the doghouse, so to speak, the Russians need to introspect on their flagrant violations of several issues dear to the West. Obviously, this debate is vast and beyond our scope here, but the point to note is that every Russian name now comes under suspicion, or should do so, per the NYT's dog-whistle.

Those running Blockchain stuff monetisation will need to pay heed if they wish to continue doing business in the US, and by extension, the Western world. Basically, the game of applying increasing pressure has begun, and now its entered our 'decentralised' Blockchain world.
249  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The New York Times claims Russia plans to dictate Blockchain's future on: May 22, 2018, 12:05:45 AM
New York times = Wallstreet Bankster Hatred magazine

they have already started with their Bitlicense to create a new Banking Cartel

While I agree with you to some extent that the NYT has its own biases and prejudices; nevertheless, it is indeed a recognised premier source of authentic information. Also, it caters to a readership across the spectrum of views, so it does tend to present a consensus view.

My point in linking to this NYT article is my personal 'suspicion' that this article was written or 'planted' at the behest of official US government 'monitors', perhaps the Pentagon.

As such, it enables us to form a general idea of Washington's strategic approach to this matter.

It seems their marketing team hasn't done the homework necessary before posting an announcement on this Bitcointalk forum.  Shocked

The posting account is total noob 1/1, and to make matters worse, there's no one attending to the queries raised in this thread.  Very poor social media marketing skills.   Undecided

Okay, so we have identified the 'scamster ICO' problem.

At present, the solution is a blanket 'Scam' accusatory thread on this forum, and maybe at some other crypto forum sites such as Reddit.

Is it possible to have a certification standard that can be applied to any upcoming ICO launch, that must be displayed by that ICO as a compulsory rating?

On the stocks and bonds market, there are several certifying agencies that rate an issue.  Can the same be developed for the crypto world?

Finally, can this forum play any role in such a certification?  Obviously, a certificate cannot be issued through polling, as that would form an essential ingredient of a bounty campaign!

Perhaps, a Certification board alphabetically listing the ICOs, and their ratings would be the way to go. These can also take advantage of any current reliable rating systems functioning in our crypto universe.
253  Economy / Speculation / Re: how long bitcoin survive under 10K on: May 20, 2018, 01:03:09 AM
At the current sub-10k (USD) rates, cloud mining rigs are proving unsustainable. Reduction in supply will nudge the price upwards, that might perhaps encourage investor sentiment, and lead to more uptick.  However, that might also impel some 'fud'dy hodlers to unloose a fee coins on the market.

So, essentially there's a boom-bust cycle at play here, around the 10k price-point.

That logic, however, doesn't apply to new coin launches, that may succeed based on merit, timing, and sheer luck.

255  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: We should build a seastead on: May 19, 2018, 12:24:27 AM

Who here is interested in participating in this, and what would you want a seastead to have before living on one? I'm not going to collect any money from people, but if there's enough interest (maybe $75 million or so), we can hire some people who actually know what they're doing and create a proper company with a board of directors, etc. Maybe it could even be made into an ICO, though I'm pretty skeptical of those in general.

Looks like this Seasteading project of Yours is getting fair coverage in the Futures community Press:

https://futurism.com/floating-island-project-high-seas/

Futurism's Instagram poll reveals that a full 76 percent of their followers are interested in this idea of living on a floating island.

Congratulations on a good PR, from a fellow hustler; and Best Wishes for Your Seasteading Project!

btw, You can always consult me for the White Hat hacking tests on Your Seasteading project's physical Security.   Cool

256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best country for crypto on: May 18, 2018, 11:15:02 PM
The answer, based on the sum of all the previous replies is - yes, I've read through the whole thread.   Cheesy

Switzerland

But, setting up ops might be cheaper in other places around the world that are crypto-friendly, such as Estonia.

Also, if your Token targets location specific activity, then it would make sense to be centred in that location, and not Switzerland, duh.  For instance, if your token relates to the New York Subway, wouldn't a NY-based op prevail over a Swiss company? Highly hypothetical, of course, but just saying.    Grin
257  Local / Off-Topic (India) / Re: Let's Launch ICO on: May 18, 2018, 05:46:46 PM
Hello,

Let's launch a new ICO coming from India. I need a team and members or Investors who are interested in being a part of it.

Think in terms of writing the Whitepaper.

What is the problem-solution angle of your Token?

What is the use scenario?

What kind of technology, and technological innovation are you offering?

Assuming you are a founder with an idea, you will need a Blockchain CTO, and the usual core team you will find in most Whitepapers. You will also need the Blockchain tech personnel, as well as others like social media managers, community managers for Telegram, etc.

You will need advisors.  The good ones who will come on board only if they think your ICO is credible, and for some stake in the Tokens, of course.

Lastly, and most important of all, you will need the investors who hope to make money from the launch and uptick of your tokens. You can obtain their names from the Whitepapers of other ICOs.

An ICO launch is a costly process. Even if most salaries are minimal and deferred in the form of tokens, there are fiat currency costs, like the legal formalities, marketing, etc.

After all this, you will need to factor in the fact that the Indian Government doesn't really look very kindly on Cryptocurrency. In fact, there's a 'Laxmicoin' stuck in the works for God alone knows how many years.

That said, you can bring together a team, do most of the groundwork cheaply in India, and then head to Estonia, or any of the more propitious countries, for the actual Token launch.  You could go to Zug, Switzerland; but for that you will need deep pockets, several generous investors, and expensive office formation technicalities.

Final word: do your due diligence first.

258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoins be antiques on: May 18, 2018, 12:11:02 AM
Let's just put it this way: in addition to whatever intrinsic value Bitcoin commands in the future, there will always be the added lure of it being an antique piece, especially when most coins have been mined.

So, antique in the sense of an utilitarian item; not in the sense of being a museum piece!
259  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin to use 0.5% of world’s electricity by end of 2018 on: May 17, 2018, 09:10:34 PM
Proof-of-Work electricity is the cost of decentralized currency. Inflation is the cost of centralized currency. Which is cheaper? via https://twitter.com/naval/status/996120405868994560

The solution is to devise a Proof-of-Work mining mechanism that isn't so resource hungry. But then, isn't that what every other new ICO aims to do?!

If we ever chance upon a Proof-of-Work that is as satisfyingly rigorous and meticulous as is the case with Bitcoin, then and only then will Bitcoin depreciate to the status of 'toy money'. But, if Bitcoin can happily co-exist with smart contract equipped Ethereum, it may well outlive others is well!
260  Local / India / Re: How to pay Crypto Gain Tax in India? No guess only Experienced answer plz on: May 17, 2018, 06:54:30 PM
Hi guys,

As per the current laws crypto is not defined in any type of gain. What is the correct way to file the taxes for crypto gain?
Like share gain 10% of the gain should be paid as taxes.
Or should I add all gain in my income and pay tax as my normal income slabs.
Please share youe knowledge on this.

It seems that there's a different view for Bitcoins that have been mined directly by the individual, and coins that have been transacted for particular purposes.

The following article makes the Tax situation in India for Bitcoin (and all other Cryptocurrency) crystal clear:

https://cleartax.in/s/bitcoins-taxes-india

It seems to be a professionally written piece, so you can consider it as solid advice.
