181  Other / MultiBit / ADVISE PLEASE - Worried about losing my BTC with Multibit !!!!! on: December 08, 2014, 10:10:57 AM
Hi All

I have been mining BTC for a while and have 30 BTC in 3 seperate encrypted wallets using Multibit on my laptop, i tend to open a new encrypted wallet after i reach approx 10 BTC (after being advised on here).

I also have been advised to back up ALL data in - C>users>acer>appdata>roaming>multibit>multibit.wallet.

I do this EVERYTIME i add another wallet and save the data to 3 usb sticks.

What worries me is that if my laptop develops a fault and i can not access Multibit on it then i have no access to my coins and NO IDEA how to recover them on another machine even after searching on here !!!!

Can anyone advise me if my method is safe and how would i go about recovering my coins if my laptop breaks...

Thanks

I have accounts with GAW, Genesis Mining, and LTC Gear.

If you have a decent amount of money to invest (at least $1000) you should go to LTC Gear: http://ltcgear.com?apage=868 use the coupon code: "anniversary1yr" for 49% off + you will get 8% off when you pay with Bitcoin. As far as ROI it is the best deal running. Buy the anniversary shares that are featured on the main page. Keep in mind that you will need to keep checking back for them to be in stock.

I would not go jumping in to GAW. The ZenPool is not what it used to be and management is using everyone as an experiment for their new project. Genesis wouldn't be bad to jump the next time they lower their prices again but right now ROI seems pretty far away.

http://ltcgear.com/product/asic-share-1k6x/

Am i correctin thinking this is only 160Gh, even with 49% off it seems very expensive..... Undecided

Way to complex !!!!

I thought you could run multiple multibit programs on numerous pc's.

Looks like i just have to keep backing up and HOPE my pc does not fail !!!!!!

Don't like that to be honest as i have NEVER recovered Multibit and hope it can be done, works  Embarrassed

Just send to your new address if you are not comfortable using the import/export private key feature (under tools).

So if i export a private key from my current pc and import to my second pc it will be a 'mirror' image ?

I will basically have two pc's running multibit with the same wallets/details etc ??

I am scared if my currnt pc develops a problem and it's the only one with Multibit running on it.

188  Other / MultiBit / HELP - Putting Multibit on my second laptop ? on: October 30, 2014, 11:52:54 AM
Hi All

I use Multibit as my main storage for BTC, i always backup the files as required when i add another encrypted wallet when i reach reach a set amount of coins.

What have NEVER done is run Multibit on another new laptop and recovered my wallets using the saved details.

My thinking is having multibit running on a second pc will give me instant access if my main pc is faulty.

So i willl be basically setting it up on a second pc if possible.

Can this be done and if so how, i always save EVERY backup file .

Thanks

194  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: ADVICE - Ghash.IO showing poor speed rate ? 1Th Dragon Miner ?? on: August 22, 2014, 04:52:13 PM
Hi

I had 1Th Dragon miner and the PSU was faulty on it soi purchased a 1300w EVGA Gold PSU to replce it.

My 9 other miners all run at 1Th CONSTANTLY except for this one ??

Could it be because i have used the wrong PCI outlets (has 6)?

If goto the miners address and then into 'Real Time Monitoring' of the machine it is a constantly over 1 Th (over 256Gh per blade) ?

Any ideas what is going on here, difficulty is set to 256k.

Thanks

It's showing 540Gh now !!!!!on Ghash.IO and 1,023,716.81 on the 'real time monitoring. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks again, so basically i should be saving/updating my back up as much as possible as it changes/relates to the coins in my wallet ?

SORRY for asking so many questions, but if that's the case i should be backing up every time i earn a coin or at a set period  (every 3/4 days) ??

Cheers

No, you just need to back up your wallet when you add more addresses to it. The coin value is stored in the blockchain for security reasons.

Thanks again, i thought the backup related DIRECTLY to no. of coins in my wallets.

I finally understand now   !!!

Thanks Guys

Thanks Guys for a GREAT response !!!!

I have been trying to locate wallet.dat file but can not find it ?

When i do back it up do i just copy the file or do i completely remove it/cut it from the its location ?

If i have several wallets will i have wallet.dat files ??

I still don't fully understand how it works BUT if i stored my wallet.dat file NOW and it has 10 coins in it THEN i send another 5 coins to that wallet, what happens if i do a 'recovery' from the wallet.dat will it still show the 5 new mined coins ??

Or do i just do ONE backup for each wallet and thats it !!!

Thanks

HELP PLEASE - HELP - How do i get a Dragon miners running on Virgin Superhub ??

Hi All

The Dragon miners state it needs a network of 19.168.0.1

So i set the miners address to 192.168.0.90 on my network (192.168.1.1)

It detected it fine when i put the IP address in heut would not connect to a pool/show speed......

I then changed subnet or gateway which was 255.255.255.254 to 255.255.255.255 and now i can not detect it at all Huh

Although it detects it in Angry IP Scanner HuhHuh

Anyone help ?

Cheers
