The thing that I most like about crypto is being able to feed my family in my home country. They don't need to understand how it works, I just deposit to my father's bank account and he's happy about the quickness of it. Emergencies and such I always help and I know they appreciate my efforts, I don't know how I'd be able to support people in Venezuela otherwise (currently Western union and similar "worldwide services" don't work with Venezuelan bolivars)  so I'm thankful to bitcoin for existing.

Yup, anyone that takes interest in crypto usually gravitates to Bitcoin just out of its price, volatility and market share. Still, it's not wrong to promote here and there to potential adopters and lead them to the right places to get their info (unbiased if at all possible) and teaching them what's convenient for starters.

I've been using localbitcoins for my fiat exchanges for as far as I can remember, never leave over $2k worth there, that was until the recent dip, I had $2k exactly and it hit me hard as it went down all too quickly with the price dip. Decided to leave it there until price recovers, I've been purchasing here and there but always try to stay under $1k for these extra purchases before sending to a personal wallet, so I currently have 0.22 of which 0.201 I will not touch until price soars once more

I'd say that NO. Precisely because it is a decentralized, open technology, the govmnts of any country can't just shut it down, it'd take serious efforts and there's realy not much in it for them. Best they can do is join the movement, check Argentina and their government backed efforts to adopt the blockchain for example.

Maybe so, I think that, rather than it being just 1 year with lots of countries adopting, it'll be a slow progression, we've already seen countries make steps in the right direction, I think this quarantine situation is also helping, have you noticed how many government processes that required you attend physically have moved online instead? It won't stop soon either!

Collaborating with other projects is exactly the way to go to get noticed, but everything takes time and, as far as we're aware, they're working heavily on the tech to make sure it's as easy to use as possible, pretty neat if you ask me

RSK is the name of the network, RBTC is the gas, I'll assume you're talking about RBTC which is pegged 1:1 to Bitcoin, so total supply is exactly 21 million tokens, exactly like bitcoin

And that's all perfectly fine, but hey, they shouldn't play being the US treasury and "print USD", they should back it up with actual USD somewhere and make it a transparent process, otherwise they'll get the book thrown at them, which is what is happening right now.

Even if totally P2P, centralized exchanges do something way better than general p2p. For example, what use do I give to crypto? I get paid in crypto and sell to send money to my parents in my home country, not being from a first world country, finding people that buy bitcoin with my home countries's currency is pretty difficult, and decentralized exchanges really go after main FIATs. So in my particular case I find use in centralized exchanges, at least until a more decentralized option makes my home country's currency as one of the escrow-able options.

Thing is it'll probably not be quick, we shouldn't be too harsh on newcomers, fudders will always be present, and when we take a stance of "yeah stay out of crypto", it is not unlikely that the people unsure of the future are recent adopters, we should show them with examples of why we believe bitcoin will rise again. In reality, it always does, and right now it's behaving very much like it has done in the past after a big crash, slowly creeping up.

But there's another problem, we're currently sitting at about 1/2 max TPS capacity, once momentum goes up, new users will very likely clog up the network, lightning seems like a bit of a waste with all the limitations that it comes with, so what could be done? Thankfully the tech is ever improving, I'd like to see Lightning be as good as it was advertised, we're just not there yet. Maybe lumino / RSK will be the answer?

We've had insatiable demand in the past, and price reaching high numbers is not impossible, maybe not practical with current tech though.

I used to work in the bitcoin ATM industry during 2017's bull run, and let me tell you people were crazy about getting their hands on some bitcoins. It was incredible, some platforms charged as high as 18% over price and would still see traffic on the machines, they weren't in for cashing out, they wanted to be a part of it, buying was what was on people's mind, I'm sure that when bull market comes, this will happen again.

And even on bull market times, with the difference that more people will want to sell rather than just buy. Remember everyone hears about bitcoin at different stages of their life, and I think bitcoin ATMs are a good way to get people used to the idea that we're here to stay. Where I live bitcoin ATMs are not really popular though, I'd like to be able to use one some day

I was checking live transactions on the bitcoin network just today and see that we're on ~4tps, we're not even close to 10% of the world's population using it and we're halfway of choking it's limit in a relatively calm time, I also believe that bitcoin has the capacity to become the world's single currency but there's lots of improvements to be made.

There's lots of shit you have to go through to find the real worth altcoins, and also there's a lot of people that have just jumped in the crypto train to scam people which doesn't help the trust on newer altcoins, with this said, I think that the user below points out something important:


And I think he's right, no one single product will keep the market alive. Competition is key and healthy, I'm sure that, eventually, another coin will prevail over bitcoin, and I want to see the attitude of the general crypto community once it happens

Well I support my family back in Venezuela solely through Bitcoin. They sell it there and get local currency in exchange, so I guess that's pretty cool
