Well, looks like the trade-in plan did not materialize yet again. Batch 2 went ok this time but we did not get notified to trade in our old fpga boards.
BitSyncom has stated a few times that trade-ins are not subject to batch limitations and will be given priority shipping order. I expect they will notify trade-in customers once they have figured out how to handle it on their end, as he mentioned in the other thread. I assume we aren't supposed to order right now for the full price without knowing when/how the discount will be applied, but I'm not entirely certain so don't take my word for it!

I'm looking for 1-2 people to help add seed data a new classifieds listing site. Ideally it would be someone who is active on tech & electronics forums.
I'm offering 1 BTC for every 15 listings but I have some strict conditions to ensure quality and prevent scamming/fake listings/etc.
PM for more details if interested.

No, I believe it is limited to a 1-to-1 trade-in. Closing thread as these are no longer available.

I'm selling the remainder of my FPGA cluster which consists of 18x Icarus FPGAs. All are working perfectly averaging 378Mh/s.
I was planning on trading them in for credit towards Avalon units but there is too much uncertainty for me with the way the pre-orders are being set up for the second batch.
Looking for $250/each shipped in the continental USA, BTC preferred but I can do Paypal or Dwolla if necessary. According to the Avalon site http://launch.avalon-asics.com these are each good for $299 credit toward an Avalon unit, so if you were thinking of placing a large pre-order for batch #2 this could save you some money. Preference will be given for people interested in purchasing multiple units.
I've traded with a lot of users on the forum in the past and prefer to deal directly, but if escrow is required for a BTC purchase I would like to use Graet @ Ozcoin.
I'll add pics this evening.

Don't use anything that can be found in a book. "Really obscure" doesn't mean anything in the context of a brute force attack.

If some entity wanted to take over the bitcoin network, it wouldn't make any sense for them to kill it. If bitcoin got to a point where it was really considered a threat, it would be trivial for a government or a bank to purchase enough mining resources to execute a 51% attack. Consider the "slap-on-the-wrist" fine of $1.9 BILLION that was recently given to HSBC for drug money laundering - an amount that they were clearing every 5 WEEKS. That should put things in perspective as to how simple it would be for any powerful entity to purchase a massive mining cluster and completely own the network. http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/blogs/taibblog/outrageous-hsbc-settlement-proves-the-drug-war-is-a-joke-20121213Once in control, they could easily mandate transaction fees as a "bitcoin tax". If I was a powerful government or bank I'd be very happy have a way to take a cut of all transactions, and I would expect that the majority of bitcoin users would have little choice but to begrudgingly go along with it. It would be everyone's best interest (financially) to do so because paying a tax to use bitcoin would be better than bitcoins becoming useless/worthless. Net-net it wouldn't be that bad aside from crushing our egalitarian pipe-dreams.

As someone mentioned in the comments, he should really consider setting up with BitPay so he can receive USD.
The explanations for how to secure a wallet are generally a big turn-off for someone unfamiliar with bitcoin who is just trying to raise money to cover costs.

I certainly don't understand why people are "against" litecoin for whatever reasons, as fickle as they may be - "I hate it because of kids in a chat box on one site!" I like litecoin purely for the fact that I can easily and quickly exchange it with bitcoin, and as I've said in another post, by proxy that makes it as useful as bitcoin. Most other currencies become a hassle to exchange due to regulations/AML/KYC/etc. Also I consider it a hedge for people "investing" in crypto-currencies. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. There are also many other potential uses. For instance, people concerned with anonymity could utilize a few hops between LTC/BTC chains to obfuscate a transaction trail.

Bump. I'll cover international shipping costs for a flat-rate box as indicated above for anyone not in the USA.
