People weren't claiming to be losing ZIPcoins.  They are losing other altcoins on their same computer.  The exchange and the prices have been fine with the coin, that is not what people are talking about. 

Did you notice that the ZIP dev posted the same snarky comment with winky face in every thread of coins that came out over the weekend right at the same time people were realizing he had bundled a trojan with the wallet?  This isn't FUD.  I dont even have any of this coin anymore and I don't plan on buying any.

Even if the current wallet is clean we still need to make people that downloaded and ran the malicious wallet aware that they might need to take steps to protecting their data.

edit: not sure of time.  It wasn't immediately though. Several hours at least after the mining had began

got a chance to check the computer my wallet was installed on.

I also had the Spoon folder with all the bad stuff in it.

I didn't seem to have the malicious process running though and none of my wallet names were changed.

It's really quite ironic how this coin has actually a good dev, a nice community, and a responsive network.  I'd rather get ripped off by these guys anyday.  

So is there a way I can determine for sure whether I ran the infected version?

I think many community members have thought at one point or another that limiting the hash power of any individual would really be good for the coin.

This will be a good experiment.

It would be awesome if the hash limit could be done in a trustless manner somehow.

As it is clearly we depend on the pool owners to operate within this framework, and it is the reason this coin has relaunched a few times.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes.

Ripoff coin has a nice whitepaper you would enjoy, I think this one is too legit for that.
