1301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Today, one year after Hal Finney's Death on: August 31, 2015, 11:00:17 PM
RIP indeed. But who knows? Maybe he'll be back to witness the final satoshis pop out in 2140.

It's pretty mind blowing that this is a possibility. Im scared of transhumanism and let alone being frozen after being clinically death and waking up centuries after, probably with robotic implants because I doubt they would be able to make the entire body function, specially if you had some sort of sickness as well.

And at the same time I wish I had the money to do that, you know, just in case it actually happens, but right now it feels too sci-fi. Also who knows what will happen in 100 years. If there is a big war, the lab where your body is stored may get bombarded or something.

Getting the body to function properly may be the easy part, with having all one's memory completely restored being the greatest challenge after a cure is discovered. BTW, who pays for all those expenses when the time comes since only the preserving process is supposedly fully paid for till whenever?

I assume, the physical matter of Hal will stay in stasis till it is possible to bring him back in a time where it is relatively cheap.
There will be a point in the far future, where being able to "revive" someone could be considered a civil right,
and not doing so is a violation of that person's civil rights. Especially for people like Hal who purposefully choose to be frozen to be revived in the future.

Then Hal (mental Hal) can be transferred to a new body or maybe into a mental collective, which will be possible by then, but might cost extra and not apply to the right.

And if that day never comes where it is a right, then when the person is "revived", you could provided them an invoice and allow a payment plan.

This was during the great altcoin rise of 2014.
Almost everything was a altcoin then.

...
I guess when the deadline fast approaches we should consider if we all want to move to 75%… but until then every body move to 90%!!

I'm moving my vote from 90% to 75% now. Not much time left.

Edit: Also, since this thread has been moved to Games and rounds, I don't think people will return to change their votes,
so ultimately, doesn't seem like we will get consensus. Just like whats going on in the community currently.  Sad
1305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Modification of Adam's Experiment: Win Bitcoin's If You Can Come to Consensus! on: August 26, 2015, 02:03:31 AM

1306  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: wallet on: August 25, 2015, 04:06:49 AM
sir I need to save my bitcouns and suggest me a good wallet for saving bitcoins Huh? ...may god bless u.......bcz some are saying mycelium wallet is best whereas some r saying that bitcoin core is best so kindly help me for choosing the best wallet Huh?

Please go here: https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet
Please read all the different wallets, their positives and negatives and see which one works for you.

It all depends on how many you bitcoins you have and whether you will store them away or use on daily basis.

Please educated yourself fully before doing anything you may regret later.
Please experiment with sending transactions with small amounts.

For someone completely new to bitcoin,
I would suggest something like Mycelium,
but I have never used it, but heard good things.

Edit: Please only use Online Wallets for small amounts of bitcoin.
1307  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin from the perspective of a braindead cretin on: August 25, 2015, 02:23:40 AM
You don't think anything there is worth actually talking about?

You points are valid.
That is why many people are supposedly looking to find or make the "killer app" for it.
Then people will be using Bitcoin/bitcoin and not even know it is there or need to "understand" its "complex" functions.

But we aren't there yet, but could happen any day (prob 1-2 years away).
This stage is like the internet even before dialup AOL, when it was just colleges and military using it.
1308  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Goes Below $200 on: August 25, 2015, 02:14:53 AM
Bitcoin users are not a charitable foundation dedicated to preserving miner profits.

There can, have, and will be times when mining is EXTREMELY unprofitable.

Nowadays, most successful miners have free access to electricity and, similar to oil wells, existing investments in hardware are mostly a sunk cost. Even if BTC goes down to $50, there will still be guys cutting in line to mine it on older hardware using various sources of free electricity.

Also, if BTC goes that low there will be a firesale on ASIC hardware. This will allow new players to enter the game and profit at levels that are unsustainable for current miners.

THE SHOW WILL GO ON

This may be true too, but in that event, price bounces back up.
Then difficultly rises, the new miners drop out, and the large farms start again.
Then we are back to above 150 USD again.
1309  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the hell are people still selling at these prices? on: August 25, 2015, 02:06:10 AM
You can see that even here on Bitcointalk many users doesn't know a shit about Bitcoin, so you can be sure that most speculators have no clue about what they have in their hands.
Bitcoin's rises and falls haven't made much sense to me in the past years. I suppose it's normal to be clueless about something that's nearly impossible to follow.
They don't make much sense to anyone, usually.
But if you believe in the technology and protocol, and are long term, then there is nothing to worry about.

If you are in and out, trying to make "fast" or "easy" money, then this currently is a nightmare.

This is very true as well.
1311  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the hell are people still selling at these prices? on: August 25, 2015, 01:48:59 AM
Its interesting that bitcoin is following the stock market. Think thats a bad sign as we move forward.
Not worried about this blip though.

It does seem like a bad sign for bitcoin, but the reality is the world markets are really getting hit bad right now.
Even with the whole blocksize/core v xt debate, I believe this would still be happening.

To place into perspective, Gold and Silver isn't really rising either. Went down today I believe.

People are scared and really just want to get into cash, IMO.
1312  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Goes Below $200 on: August 25, 2015, 01:15:55 AM
I believe break even for the large miners is around 180 USD.
At-least that is what some claimed last time this happened.
Two pools even went out of business around 180 USD.
Below that and miners are dead.

So if anyone buys around or below that number,
I believe you are buying in at the greatest time after bitcoins initial rise of 2013.

(Warning, I'm no expert nor financial adviser, you should only spend what you can afford to lose.)
1313  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the hell are people still selling at these prices? on: August 24, 2015, 10:03:49 PM
It could go even lower.
Then they will buy back in.

But, anyone who isn't buying now, will hate themselves in 1 year, IMO.

Edit: added video link for all those exchange traders out there.
1314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: GOVERMENTS killing CRYPTO. Back to the drawing table SATOSHI NAKAMOTO. on: August 24, 2015, 09:59:24 PM
NO. You seem to mistakenly confuse mining with the exchange market.

When someone has developed a more efficient way to mine, THE DIFFICULTY WILL RISE.
@
LOL NO. When someone has developed QUANTUM technology based ASICS they can MINE Bitcoin @ down to 1$ per Bitcoin and still make profit which means for a coverment especially they will want to push BTC price as down as possible for people to loose faith in it HELL THEY WILL EVEN STILL SELL ALL BTC WHEN they take loss just to make a point.

They can CRASH BTC down to it's roots. PEOPLE YOU GOTTA WAKE UP FKS you can't be this dump something needs to be done.

Just so you know. If the government or anyone actually created a working Quantum computer,
which would then be convertible into smaller chips, to eventually create Quantum ASICs,
then the game is over for everyone, world wide, for everything.

If Quantum Computers are developed and deployed, nothing is safe, not encryption, not physics, not anything.
It would be a new stage of human evolution. We would be able to do anything that we could imagine.

We would get computational answers from other realms.
We could figure out time travel, go to other dimensions, anything (possibly).

I don't think people will want to tank Bitcoin/bitcoin, when the whole world will be undone.
1315  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: GOVERMENTS killing CRYPTO. Back to the drawing table SATOSHI NAKAMOTO. on: August 24, 2015, 09:02:26 PM
Can some BTC high end miner come here with evidence that they are actually making profit and how much?

It is already clear to me that we are beyond normal ASICS at this point whoever is running them.

Here is an article that might shed some light.
https://bitcoinmagazine.com/21660/bitmain-announces-launch-bm1385-chip-future-antminer-s7-bitcoin-miner-increased-power-efficiency/
Its possible some are mining with them now, not the public, but major operators.
I don't know though, I just remembered seeing this a few days ago.

Quote
Bitmain, the bitcoin mining ASIC provider, announced today (20/8/15) that it has launched its fourth-generation ASIC, the BM1385.
This chip, the company claims, can generate a 45 percent increase in hashrate while needing 50 percent less electricity than its former chip, the BM1384.

THIS IS A FACT. Back to the drawing table SATOSHI NAKAMOTO. + CENTRALIZATION through development is also FAIL FYI (bribes on the dev team etc.)

This is a fact?  Shocked Sell me your coins please, I buy with any gift card you want, with receipts.  Tongue
I do not hold any Bitcoins Sir. or I would cladly sell to you.
Well I thank you for your consideration.
1318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: GOVERMENTS killing CRYPTO. Back to the drawing table SATOSHI NAKAMOTO. on: August 24, 2015, 07:09:36 PM
Bitcoin network Hashrate just keeps on going UP UP UP, BUT price keeps on going DOWN DOWN DOWN. This is not profitable for the miners by a longshot.

Last time this happened, miners stated that their lowest/break even point was 180 USD, I believe.
So, we have ways to go before the miners start shutting down. But then they just turn on again.

This is what markets do and is healthy. The whole world is shedding currently. Open your eyes.

One of many examples of how this guy doesn't know what he's talking about. There is research on this for damn sure, he just didn't educate himself on it, so he tells the public that there is no research. This is the problem with media in general, presuming things that aren't true which causes a butterfly effect of misinformation and idiocracy.

So unlimited block limit is clearly bad, and 20Mb is generally agreed upon as pretty risky (up to 8sec propagation delays).  What’s wrong with just 8Mb?  Frankly, it’s probably ok.  Probably.  The problem is that nobody knows.  Because nobody has finished researching the issue to a satisfactory level yet.

I don't really want to get involved in what you are saying, but...
He actually said there is research, but it hasn't been finished to a satisfactory level yet.
In theory, no one really knows what will or will not happen.
The Core Devs are requesting more time for more tests.
At-least that is what i remember reading somewhere.
