average is now slightly above 1000000 shares per block. pretty good

also we have reached 81Ghash/s now. cool
962  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: logic question about solo mining on: July 15, 2011, 06:14:40 AM

Let's say that you have a nice setup at 500 Mhash/second.

I do not Tongue rofl.  It's a whopping CUDA based 38.2-40.0 MH/s on my GTS450.

So what you're saying about my odds of finding it overnight, and I might be reading into this a little, is I should instead take out my graphics card and use the corner of it to scratch some scratch off lottery tickets instead cuz the return would likely be better Cheesy

nothing is impossible our pool just found a block after submitting    27244 shares  Grin winning lotery ticket i guess, unlikely to be repeated soon

975  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is all this 'mining' all about? on: July 12, 2011, 11:37:44 AM
Hi,

I have joined BitCoin in an attempt to gain access to e-payment, for certain sites online, am I in the right place here? All this talk of gaming, and mining is confusing me.
bitcoin is  cryptocurrency. you can trade it for other paper currencies or buy stuff directly (not many e-shops accepting yet)

the exchange rate is changing as well as with other currencies , currently 1 bitcoin is selling for around 14.2 dollars.  http://bitcoincharts.com/charts/mtgoxUSD#rg60zvztgSzm1g10zm2g25

you can get bitcoins by buying them directly or mining yourself with your computer
976  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: suppose this is the most asked newbie question on: July 12, 2011, 11:24:17 AM
The first thing is to determine if you are going to CPU mine or GPU mine.

What kind of graphics card do you have?

What is the relevance of this question, forgive me for asking, I am new to BitCoin, but am a very fast learner.

Thanks.

if you want to mine for bitcoins your hardware matters.
have a look at this table comparing mining hardware performance. higher hash rate, the more bitcoins you can make

979  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will you still use bitcoin when it gets banned? on: July 01, 2011, 04:36:43 PM
yes Grin i doubt it can be banned; and even if it is banned somewhere i don't see how could they ban it worldwide.

980  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduce yourself :) on: July 01, 2011, 01:29:54 PM
Is anyone reading all these introductions?  Wink

I'm from Germany (please excuse my poor english!) and quite new to bitcoin. But very fascinated. Wish I'd heard earlier about it when mining was more profitable. I think with the next step in difficulty my decent mining (about 330 Mhash/s) is just for the price of electricity.

Happy bitcoining!

hi there Smiley

I'm not reading all of them but i enter this thread time to time to read last page.. to see who and why is coming here and how did they learn about bitcoins

so welcome everyone Wink
