81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: March 22, 2016, 10:37:01 AM
I think launch would be sooner if we covered the deal and foundation pledges. We are still on 35M from the 75M total needed.

Have in mind that all those funds will be redistributed among people who work to take Iota further. So if you dont have the technical knowledge to promote or work for iota, this is the best way to help and not have to worry.

This mean there will be a roolback on the current Tangle and a new genesis block will be created?

No.

lol ok, I will ask a non-closed question.
Can you explain what "updated genesis" mean regarding the fact the genesis block has already been generated for the beta?

Cfb escrowed for some days offering to put buyers on genesis. So some iotas from those trades will be updated on genesis.
83  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: March 21, 2016, 10:19:24 AM
I add 250k to foundation, from the 250k to deal i had already pledged. I previously thought the deal had priority, but its important both are closed before launch so we can start with everything ready to depart with nothing to care about but promote IOTA.
Taking care of these issues on the go would be too messy and not optimal.
The feeling of having all our work done is the best, and we have the power to do it by completing these two funds so we dont have to care of money anymore as a community.

So lets do it!!

Problem with accepting only BTC is that it lasts quite shortly, I.E. it does not increase in value with the result of the foundation. With iota it is a direct relationship.

I see, sounds fair. Although i never meant only btc, but both of them.
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [IOTA] IOTA Speculation on: March 18, 2016, 04:59:26 PM

Please do not get me wrong! I want that this project will be a success. Maybe last it have been better if the iota-Foundation had accepted Bitcoin instead of IOTA. If the project fails at the beginning, the Foundation has no money to repair the software.

I also suggested accepting bitcoin. I think having both options would optimize the will to colaborate in the community. Some people may have a small stake( to their regret) from which they cant donate much, and would rather do it with btc.
And as David says, "for the real world", btc or $$ is what you will need for common expenses.

About the GUI, they ve been transparent all along. Just unlucky or bad choice with who the work was put on, but we were all aware while it happened.
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: March 18, 2016, 12:54:37 PM

unless they are undoubtfully bringing enormous benefits for iota (adoption from decisive worldwide iot companies) i don't think this is an honest proposal.

Very probably that is the case. They would do more to promote iota proportionally to their stake than most of us are capable of. I dont think David would even consider it if it wasnt the case.

I would buy your 6 million IOTA without escrow for 138 btc. deal?

Please, even if you dont really care, use escrow. It costs almost nothing and keeps the environment healthy.

a small contribution for IOTA community from a talented friend:

any donations are welcome. [prefer IOTA]

Really nice video. I like the visual feel of it.  Smiley

Post iota address so we can send after launch

Why in gods name are you buyers paying these insane prices right now by the way? 25x ICO price pre-release?

Haha yep sell em while you can at 25x price before they hit exchanges and are selling for 5x IPO price...  It's almost cruel! Good job guys, well done.

Congrats to zercrypt(again) and zzzman20!

Yeap. But buyers will be pissed off.

Anyway the current deals are profitable to sellers only. They are in the position of a gambler who can cancel the bet if he loses.

That can be solved with the seller offering a security deposit he would lose if he turned down the deal. Still profitable for sellers, but less incentive to do it and more protection for buyer.
I offered that when I announced I sold some iotas.

@CfB
Are the adresses in the genesis (block) final?
Could you post the adresses again, can't seem to find them anymore.
Thanks

Sold 1.6 million without escrow for 45 Bitcoin, PM me if you are interesting.

I like to live dangerously too.

I am a hero member and will honor my promise.

Buyer cant know if your account has been bought or hacked by a scammer, so everyone should always trade with caution and take as many security measures as possible. So please everyone, ALWAYS ESCROW

Yes, but currently there is no escrow, it seems it's impossible, this is why I say no escrow, but if you want to use escrow, it's okay to me

How can it be impossible? You can always find a escrow, there are lots on btctalk and some offering themselves for iota trades.

I pledge 1000 IOTA (payable after launch) for a short description understandable for the average bitcoiner of

1) how and why consensus in IOTA works
2) how and why it solves scalability
3) why zero fees are possible

We could post this on reddit etc.

Feel free to add IOTA to the pledge, if you think this is important.

I add 100 Iota. I invested a small amount in the crowdsale because I didn't understand how it works and I still don't.

1000+

Whatever, this is not about YOU. Its just a general advice for everyone willing to trade.

DO NOT TRADE WITHOUT ESCROW.

If someone decides to do it, its fine, but if something happens don't come later crying asking for justice or their money back.
100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [IOTA] IOTA Speculation on: March 09, 2016, 09:45:23 AM
You can leave a security deposit you would lose if you turned down the deal.
Giving the password doesn't guarantee anything, as you can still take the funds after launch, so its worst.

Better to only trust in completing the trade, than in seller not taking both iota and the btc.
