6 hours, market order still hasn't gone through.  That's a dark, smelly starfish I'm getting starfished with.  Could use a starfish bleach job.

I was being somewhat sarcastic.  I traded on Gox for months before trading on Bitcoinica.  I prefer the style closer to forex that Bitcoinica provides.  I don't hold cash, I just hold BTC.  I'm already "long" on Gox, but I don't have USD available to buy more.  This is where Bitcoinica solves that "problem" for me.

But you're trading on fairly short timeframes, right? Pick a sell point, gain some USDs, try to buy back in lower again.
I day traded on Gox, for Bitcoinica I switched to swing trading out of necessity due to spreads.  I come from a forex background before bitcoin anyway.

I can't buy bitcoins with bitcoins on gox... I have no USD.
As funny as that sounds, that is exactly what I am talking about.  I don't buy BTC with USD, I mine all my coins.  Thus I don't have any liquid USD unless I trade old-school style on Gox.

Did I miss something?  Did Gox add margin trading recently?
446  Economy / Speculation / Starfished for over 3 hours? on: January 18, 2012, 08:46:41 PM
I can't even buy a measly 5 BTC for over 3 hours?  C'mon Zhou!  ****************************************

448  Economy / Speculation / Re: Thinking about buying more coins on: January 18, 2012, 04:45:53 PM
I would buy as much as you can right now, honestly.  As long as it is under $6, gotta catch it quick.
449  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think Bitcoinica should switch to TradeHill? [Edited] on: January 18, 2012, 04:38:13 PM
Anything to take dependence off of gox is good.  Even if you go independent I think you should still hedge on gox and tradehill.
450  Economy / Speculation / Re: wtf is going on? on: January 18, 2012, 02:15:56 AM

Shielded or unshielded?
452  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoinica on: January 18, 2012, 01:49:14 AM
Wow, you guys who got zhoutonged today are being really bitter.  I have been making money all day on Bitcoinica.  Learn how to trade.

455  Economy / Speculation / Re: is everybody ok? on: January 17, 2012, 11:25:23 PM
I shorted this morning, but liquidated right before the crash.  Luckily I wasn't holding a long position like I have been for the last 2 weeks.  Now I'm long again at much nicer number.
456  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitscalper anyone use this ? on: January 13, 2012, 07:51:25 PM
Has anyone successfully made a withdrawal?

That's the most immediately important question.
http://bitscalper.com/p/disclosure - Take it with a grain of salt.

To all who have DNS issues, please give OpenDNS a try.  It will make your life easier and it will keep zhoutong from having a heart attack when somebody says his website is down when it's not.

LOL. Luckily I'm still young and healthy. I receive 3-5 complaints about this and I don't have the time to fix this non-urgent issue. Just use Google Public DNS and OpenDNS. Also yesterday something posted on paste bin gave me a "heart attack" too.

As far as I know, about 3% of worldwide ISP DNS can't resolve the domain properly.

In my area, Comcast is the only option, and so everywhere I go I have to tweak my network settings on my phone.  Please fix this.
Uh, no.  Anybody can set their DNS to whatever they want.  You are not forced to using Comcast DNS servers.

They claim their country has strict financial laws, but they don't claim their country.
This is one red flag I didn't like.  Besides not disclosing the country the servers are in, its not that hard to get hosting in another country to virtually solve that problem anyway.

Well of course the server is located in another country, here financial control is really getting too tigh. We are located in Europe anyway, it's not hard to make a guess.
Oh, then that makes me more comfortable and you should be as well.  Yes, you are technically doing business personally where you live and sit your butt down, but the servers are in a safe haven which is more important.
