Updated the recent changes- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5095156.0
202  Economy / Reputation / Re: Wrong decision? on: January 10, 2019, 03:05:59 AM
I too think that you shouldn't give him negative feedback. Simply you can hit the report button if it seems trolling to you since forum doesn't feed troll.
3. No trolling

A lot of the attacks are personal, but I'd probably go with the ignore button and thick-skin approach, especially if you're on DT.
Agreed. I had also a same kinda issue with cryptohunter. After that I never replied to his thread or replies, as far as I remember. It's better to keep quite than arguing which will never give an output. By the way, I didn't put him on my ignore list though. Most of the times, I just skip his post.
203  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust changes on: January 10, 2019, 01:13:09 AM
Does someone have a quick way to find out who's been removed from DT1?

Og is excluded by DT1 peers so that doesn't count
hilarious is the only one I recall who didn't make it to DT1 at all
Edit: Salty
Edit2: Tomato
Edit3: philipma1957, BadBear (my memory is lagging horribly)
who else?

We might want to consider reincluding these users for the next round.
Isn't it the list?
dserrano5, Maged
By the way, has Badbear changed his name? I can remember I have seen something like this but can't remember. Is that Maged?

Yep, looks like it. Where did you get it?

204  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust changes on: January 10, 2019, 12:18:17 AM
A tagged account seller is also in DT2 list. krogothmanhattan have to do some exclusion. Otherwise, we have to face some drama for a while.
Willing to see a better trust system. Also, a good utilization of custom trust list since it may give a chance to scammer being listed in dt and scam a big amount. Anyway, I welcome the system change.

Edit- I realized today why ignore button is here. Thank you Zin-Zang.

Even if the botmaster will not be able himself to get into the DT1 list, anyway this is a good opportunity for farmers with a group of puppets. Therefore, the requirement of 10 merit might be insufficient.
Isn't it required too?

You must have at least 1 person directly trusting you with an earned merit of at least 100, not including merit you sent yourself
205  Other / Meta / Re: [Report] Ban Evasion on: January 09, 2019, 06:25:58 AM
I believe the suggestions above made by @iasenko & @suchmoon will be the more healthy appropriate to this (i.e reporting directly with ban appeal link to moderators) and if you feel like continuing then edit your topic and post more findings there instead of opening a new post for each accounts you find.
I will keep it as it is for some more days. If mod/admin take step and ban those users, I will let it go. Otherwise, I will lock this thread.
Listing in a single post will not be a good idea although at the beginning I thought to list those in OP. But later, I decided to let everyone report which will be more effective.

If you want to keep it on, maybe add one more line to the report format > archive. Sometimes some of those threads get deleted, it's good to have a link for future reference, especially if we are talking about account banning.
Thank you for your valueable suggestion. Also, we have find another utility of this thread from your suggestion. We can use it as future reference if someone asks why he was banned.

207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is Really Meant as a Peer to Peer System on: January 09, 2019, 02:41:31 AM
Why is it that many hates the use of bitcoin as store of value / investment? it isn't ignoring the fact that we can use it as peer to peer system. Everyone is free to use it with the choice that they want to, as the original vision as p2p or as an investment.

Bitcoin means freedom and that's why we, as users has the freedom of choice whether to use it as an investment or payment. The payment usage isn't even forgotten, there's nothing wrong if everybody will use it as both.
I'm one of them who think it would be better to take bitcoin as p2p currency. Why should we take it as investment opportunity? Why most of the people aren't still willing to use bitcoin as a daily life currency? Those 2 questions are related one with another. As long as bitcoin is highly volatile, it will not be accepted as a daily life currency. Merchants may have some option to get approx $$ value, I'm not sure if it exists but I am sure that there was an ICO which aims to take bitcoin as payment from customer and pay fiat to the seller. It may be a solution but still it's not fulfilling the objective of p2p. We have to depends on other. The possibility of being bitcoin used as a daily life currency instead of fiat is likely low and one of the resistance is the volatile nature of bitcoin which is being occured because of taking it as an golden chance of making profit. I'm not against it though. Just I think the future of bitcoin in this way.
208  Other / Meta / Re: [List] Ban Evasion on: January 08, 2019, 04:36:59 PM
I'd say reporting to mods is the right way to deal with it but having a public list might help to uncover other alts as well. So let's see how this goes.
As I mentioned, we may forget which one we have reported or which one is not. Also, the queue may sometime remain unhandled. I have changed the structure, inspired by LoyceV's Reporting plagiarism thread.
209  Other / Meta / Re: [List] Ban Evasion on: January 08, 2019, 03:41:06 PM
Rather than creating a list, why not report posts from such accounts outside the appeal thread. It's easy and more efficient.
You can't keep tracking what is going on, who has been banned, which one you have reported. That's why keeping in a list is more effective, IMO. Anyway, let see what other people think as well. In my opinion, it should be done more ago.
210  Other / Meta / [Report] Ban Evasion [Requesting Admin/mod to check those and ban] on: January 08, 2019, 03:07:33 PM
After watching this thread, I realized there are a lot of people who are already banned but still using the forum from their alt account.
25. Ban evasion (using or creating accounts while one of your accounts is banned) is not allowed.
~snip~
25. If you get banned (temporary or permanently) and create a new account to continue posting / sending PMs, it's considered ban evasion. The only exception is creating a thread in Meta about your ban.

Some Ban Evasion accounts are actively participating in the forum while they are only allowed to create a thread in Meta. Therefore those accounts should also be banned. That's why I have created this thread. I believe it will help admin/moderators to ban those accounts. Hope everyone will report Ban Evasion accounts here.

Report Format:
Username: Name with link.
Link to the thread: Link to the thread where it has been proved that the user was once banned. Please, don't forget to include the archived link. Thanks to iasenko for this valueable suggestion.
Status: Active/Banned
          Active- When you report
Banned- Check later to see if the account was banned or not. If banned, please edit "Banned"

211  Other / Meta / Re: Is the Default trust system still working/active? on: January 08, 2019, 01:29:54 PM
There have been scammers in DT. It amplifies their scamming power a lot when almost everyone sees them as "trusted" only because someone chose that e.g. a long time ago. Account sales happen too, which make this even worse. DT accounts are traded constantly, so how correct is that perceived trust given by DT then? Also, as I said before, scumbags will find their way on to any curated or however small list, if it gives them a position they want. It's how it works. We've seen this happening on DT, too.
You can call me a newbie as I have joined the forum earlier on October 4, 2018. But I didn't see what you have mentioned, maybe I have missed those since the forum is bigger than we think. But I didn't miss the chance to read all the thread related to Gleb Gamow/ YuTü.Co.in/ Phinnaeus Gage and I know suchmoon has paid for the account too just to prevent any kinda scam issue. I have mentioned it here because I read the history with a lot of interest but I didn't get anywhere what you have mentioned.
Why don't you just post everything with a dedicated thread in reputation? I believe that will be worthy for sure. Everyone will see what is happening here in the name of DT. You should post the proof.

Edit-
Quote
Go read the Reputation and Scam accusations boards. Dive deep into the history. Feel free to compose a list of all the DT'ers who scammed and also try to find out when they were removed from DT if at all.
Would really appreciate having some links. Since you are an old member here, it will be pretty easier for you to link up.
212  Economy / Reputation / Re: Anyone think saulzaents is a bought/hacked account? Looking for sleuths. on: January 08, 2019, 01:21:09 PM
Yup, I did notice that when checking his trust.
Have you noticed there is a feedback on his profile left by termo$ on 13th May 2017.

This is the account which bought hacked "BitcoinHeroes" account and banned for c/p posts. He gave me retaliation feedback.
213  Other / Meta / Re: Is the Default trust system still working/active? on: January 08, 2019, 01:05:35 PM
I think the "Force custom lists" idea by theymos is the best step forward. I think that a less dramatic change would be to dilute DT, add a lot more DT1 members, and see what happens.
A forced custom list will solve the problem you are talking about but what will happen to the newbies? It has been mentioned by theymos too.
What DT exactly is doing? Trying to save people like us a.k.a people who are not familiar with the forum. The majority of the persons will be harmed by either way if no DT is there, IMO. I guess account aged 1 year don't know how the trust system works, in some cases, even some Legendary too. How newbie will save them then?
214  Other / Meta / Re: HOW do I get merit? on: January 08, 2019, 10:02:57 AM
OP has some good point also. This merit is for those really good users and for the average users that were not able to post good qualities thinking that their best is not the best of others will relatively will not going to receive merits. We have different knowledge and capabilities that probably may not apply in this forum. Just take example from a fish. Do the fish climb trees? No, but they are good in swimming. So others may be good in some areas but not here. Sad merits are not for them. LOL
Merit isn't about having an outstanding knowledge in a particular subject. In your opinion, those who are not too good at bitcoin technical aspect or blockchain, will not get merit.
It's not like that, in fact. I barely have a lot of knowledge on bitcoin. I can only know how to send or receive, lol. But I got 100 merits till now.
215  Economy / Reputation / Re: [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source on: January 08, 2019, 08:14:39 AM
Just a question regarding reporting a post here-

The objective of this thread is to send enough sMerits to post which deserves. I just don't get one point, it's not a complain. marlboroza has reported one post but he didn't send any sMerit in that post. He hadn't enough sMerits to send or anything else? If I am reporting a post here means, I believe that post deserves to get merit, therefore, I should send sMerit first. Isn't the way it should work?
216  Other / Meta / Re: What do u mean? Freeze? Mr officer?! on: January 08, 2019, 06:33:55 AM
Some time ago there were people impersonating reputable members and trying to scam them that way--I forget the details, but scammers are everywhere here and look for anything they can take advantage of.
Are you looking for this one, someone trying to impersonate as bitpop with an username "bittpop".
There are some more cases too. Couple of days ago, Jet Cash was also complaining that someone created an account with almost close username.

217  Other / Meta / Re: [Re:] Newbie avatar. on: January 08, 2019, 04:14:40 AM
Back in the days, everyone could wear avatar. After a while, because of some problem, theymos removed avatar. When it re-enabled, new rule applied, full member and up can wear avatar. But the newbies who had already with avatar, they remained the same. You can check the accounts. Those accounts are from 2011.

I see one last active account: Last Active: December 23, 2017, 11:45:04 PM.
so it's only been one year, the difference, is this, before the rule, Merit, or new system is implemented in 2018
The account was created in 2011. Avatar was re-enabled in 2015. I have already linked the post.
218  Other / Meta / Re: Is the Default trust system still working/active? on: January 08, 2019, 02:19:35 AM
How can I see someone's trust list without including them to my trust list?
It's not possible. Don't know what can you get by digging here- https://bitcointalk.org/trust.txt.xz (I never tried)
I got a same kinda thread from 2015 and theymos has shared this link only. Here you go- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1175364.0
219  Economy / Reputation / Re: Hacked Account Sending Merit on: January 07, 2019, 04:25:56 PM
Your thoughts on tagging those accounts? In my opinion, those accounts should be tagged.

There is not enough evidence that those are alts but perhaps theymos can look into IPs and whatnot. He reversed merits in a similar scenario once before.
I have created this thread because the account was hacked last year. I think no proof is needed here. Anyway, hope theymos will look on it since we have seen such a case in the previous.
I wouldn't create thread on merit abuse(if it was not from hacked account) since merit abuse itself can be another abuse.

Edit-
The hacked account is already tagged but I wouldn't want to tag the recipients. For example, the hacker might be trying to frame them.
May be or hacked account had just sold merits? If so, reverse would be a good solution.
220  Other / Meta / Re: Report plagiarism (copy/pasting) here. Calling for Mod action: please permban on: January 07, 2019, 03:11:05 PM
From this rule-
12. No duplicate posting in multiple boards (except for re-posting it in the local language boards if it's translated).
User Lumen111 has posted his service thread 4 times in two different boards. I think this user deserves a ban.
