22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 21, 2021, 05:20:36 PM
Any chance of XMR to catch up with ETH (in terms of price) this year? ETH have the smart contracts, but XMR have the privacy. It should be on top 10.
...

XMR is right now in position 22 in coinmarket cap, and it will be kind of hard to see in in the top 10 because its application is more complex than other altcoins.

The complexity of the monero core brings anonymity to the users but at the same time is hard to develop APPs with monero. Isn't like the other coins where you can make easy RPC calls to create sign and push the transactions. The point is, if we have developed something with Bitcoin RPC we can rise that knowledge to build something with LTC or DOGE, but not with monero.

And the anonymous fact is cool, but do people really want to hide their identity? Only the bad guys need that.

There was already a project to develop easier API's

Zoomed out growth of Monero transactions. Average daily translations by quarter.  Q1 of 2021 update.

to moon

It sucks that usefulness doesn't make the price go up but maybe it will eventually. BCH and XMR are the two best cryptos to bring economic freedom to the world. Bitcoin is unusable for most people due to the high fees and we are seeing centralized solutions take it over.

$5k BCH and $2k XMR isn't far away.
you like BCH & XMR but not BTC, I like BTC & XMR but not BCH "lol"

don't complain fella, i'm also waiting for XMR to make a new ATH, very sure this year it will happen and (maybe) we will see XMR at $2k.

The BCH narrative flag is being carried by the front line Monero evangelists on Twitter and elsewhere now.  And I know there are many here in this thread that also believe the Blockstream = evil, Peer to Peer CASH, whitepaper, NgU is evil etc. thing.

I also think Monero is a better fulfilment of what most of us (possibly SN himself) wanted Bitcoin to be, but I feel like the anti-BTC narratives are more harmful than anything else...

I could be wrong, I guess.

But I have ALWAYS seen BTC and XMR as two sides of a coin.  I am not a fluffy disciple, but I pretty much agree with his (at least public) stances on BTC vs XMR, and the community has drifted towards a Bitcoin hostile vibe that reminds me very much of the Roger Ver type of stance.  I don't like it.  But that's just me.

We all have bitcoin brothers. I think its some other forces with that vibe.  (plus they all know about Monero too Smiley )

Sorry to say I wont be streaming my sunday game for a while, some one is going to be taking over my Sunday night chefcat social game.

I will share the link in my poker game thread when I know it.

There will still be a leaders table and a bitcoin talk team, hopefully, I may even be able to join it now  Cheesy

Love to you all and thanks for all the great support along the way.

Have you guys noticed that we need just one more player to move from here "0-12 players average= $750  finale" to there "13-24 players = $1250  finale"? @Iv4n, where's your godfather? Smiley

He lost his initial deposit and he didn't want to invest more in crypto first and later to deposit for playing! Smiley He played slots too much, like a little kid with a new toy! Probably my wish to stop playing affected him, without Enghilsh he can't follow everything on his own..

And I lost interest first in betnomi, later in poker... I didn't play poker since my last game here. I have a desire to play in some moments, but but... I was thinking to return to SwC, or to look for a new poker site... but I have less and less free time for hours of playing poker, the kid is growing, a wife is getting bigger (for a month and a half we are entering 9 months!)... Smiley

I regularly follow this thread and all of you! I just keep myself on a side when it comes to commenting! Smiley

OH wow congratulations bro.

You will be very busy soon then.  xxxx

All the best to you and your partner.

^  Not much difference..  the coin you’ll be swapping for will be as secure as that coin’s amount of mining power swapped to. But if you’re just going from BTC to XMR and vice versa most of the time, it’s plenty secure.

I wonder what the liquidity is gonna be like.

Thats a good question.

It might take time to build up marketbooks? or maybe it wont?   lol

Who knows

Alts could become like some sort of sidechains.

This is what I was thinking after atomic swaps how is it different?
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 10, 2021, 12:41:51 PM
So is price lagging? or decoupled?

Hi all we had another change this week as bitcoin has gone up so much, we reduced the buy in from 250 to 100. Even better value than ever now.

7PM UK     -  2PM EST @ SWC Poker - Globb0 Chefcat sunday game

I will be streaming tonight's game, all being well.

The bad news is Im getting quite ill and the doctor this week made it clear

So next week I start on having my blood washed 3 days a week in hospital. I'm not sure I will be streaming for a while after, lets see. I may find someone to take over the league updates

You are good friends,

Thanks.
