Nice. I just read your opposition and it seems very solid.
It's important to fight these dodgy trademarks before they get approved. Trademark owners can attempt to obtain domain names by threatening to make a false cyber-squatting claim against the owner, even though they have no right to the name and would lose in court. It is called "reverse domain hijacking". They are basically hoping that the owner will be too intimidated or embarrassed to defend their property and so will cave in to their demands.

Wouldn't be very good for UX to force only Latin characters. Not all sounds can be expressed with them. Would you join a forum that forced you to use Chinese characters? How would you even begin to create a username? I don't think impersonation is a big deal. Only a small amount of impersonators actually succeed in pulling off a scam, and the victim is unlikely to get tricked again. Over time it becomes harder to come up with a username that looks similar enough and to pull off a scam before getting banned.

Please remember to make sure that non-latin characters in usernames are still preserved on the new forum. I really want to keep my 'ø'.
I like to put special characters in my usernames. Whenever a forum I'm on changes their software, it always breaks my username.

From reading the "Fancy Authentication" section of the new forum software requirements document, it could optionally be more than just two factor. There will be alternative authentication types, and we will be given the option to configure which combination of these is required to log in. So you will be able to generate auth-rules like "(PGP AND OpenVPN) OR BTCAddress". I hope Slickage can pull it off. It would make the forum's authentication system one of the most sophisticated on the internet.

I was having this same issue with one of my domains. I had to implement DKIM to get my mail through Google's filters. Apparently they don't really care about SPF that much anymore. Google might also be being extra harsh due to all the forged email sent "from" bitcointalk.org.
I don't know how hard it would be for the forum to implement DKIM. My email provider made the whole process very simple.

Has anything been done to make sure that in the event of another treasurer's death, their BTC also won't be lost?

You are over analyzing the phrase "community controlled". Anyone is free to modify the code, but like with any open source project, you have to get acknowledgment from existing developers in order to get your changes merged in. Gavin likely meant that any member of the community can make a pull request and have a say regarding the site's content. What is your version of "community controlled"?
The Foundation sponsors the site and thereby helps keep it online, but that's it. They wouldn't have any luck trying to use that to influence the site's content. A lot of people are suspicious of them, so any proposed change that was seen to favor the Foundation would struggle to get merged in. Even Saivann couldn't get away with merging it in outright.

Saivann is known to be in charge of the content. This doesn't mean he can put whatever he likes on the site though, even he has to go through the proper process to get anything that might be controversial merged. But if there's ever a deadlock, he's the one that decides how to proceed. This isn't a secret.
I can't find the source code or pull request to bitcoin.org for this "Pheeva" wallet.

Yet the foundation is a extremely low quality and is made up of suspicious services... Why the hate against these services? I mean Erik ran a gambling site, and he turned out to be a good person. Bitcoin is for everyone, but yet the domain doesn't support these services, that bitcoin gave new life to some of them. I don't hold a grudge against the types of services I listed in my original post. It's just not possible to get a change pushed through the Github repository in which the slot is occupied by one of those types of services.

Economy / Marketplace / Bitcoin.org is looking for sponsorship!
|
on: July 13, 2014, 12:59:06 AM
|
Description: Bitcoin.org is considering looking for a new sponsor. By sponsoring Bitcoin.org your website or business will be promoted at the footer of the website (where the Bitcoin Foundation logo is currently placed). The slot won't be shared with others and the minimum purchase time is 6 months. We aren't interested in working with certain types of services, these include porn sites, gambling sites, large mining pools, anything altcoin related, and suspicious services of low quality. Traffic statistics: The site receives roughly between one million to two million unique visitors per month. On certain days when Bitcoin is featured heavily in the media, we can get a very large amount of visitors. For example the Newsweek situation had us pushing 200,000 unique visitors in the span of 24 hours. The traffic is largely made up of new users who are interested in Bitcoin and come to learn more about it and get involved. By purchasing the slot you are likely to be the first Bitcoin related "brand" or service they see. You are also likely to experience significant SEO improvements as you will have your site linked to by Bitcoin.org on every page of the site. Where your money will be spent: The money you use to sponsor Bitcoin.org will go towards the following: design improvements, server fees, rewarding valued volunteers, translation improvements and stuff of that nature. You will be directly funding improvements on one of the most important resources to the Bitcoin community. If interested, please email sponsorship@bitcoin.org. Alternatively you can private message me or contact Saivann ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=73755). We look forward to hearing from you!

Hello everyone, I cant seem to find the answer to my new question about bitcoin wallet.
Im using Armory as my main wallet... I have saved my private key in many places but what happens if i uninstall the program from my computer and armory would not offer downloads off the program anymore...how could i recover my wallet?
thanks
Is Armory your first wallet? I would recommend you use Electrum instead. Armory is more suited for experienced users.
