41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) | Testing New Masternodes on: March 12, 2015, 04:37:33 PM
Another thing, now that Mr.Spread's website is down, we also don't have a dns seeder for our wallets anymore,
this makes synching take a little longer than usual.

https://github.com/spreadcoin/spreadcoin/blob/master/src/net.cpp#L1199

When we make the transition we will have to install atleast one (preferably more) dns seeds,
e.g.
dnsseed.spreadcoin.info
dnsseed.spreadcoin.us
etc

and then create new wallets for all systems.

See https://github.com/spreadcoin/spreadcoin-seeder for more info.

would be good to have at least 3 dns seeds, for the cause of decentralization. If necessary I could run one.

I don't think this Dev lies. Its hard to tell for sure (especially after so much scams going on around), but he leaves an impression of decent developer, which has too little time to work on the project, but doesn't want to admit that and abandon the project at all, so wants to keep it is some "hibernated state" until he (magically) has more time to work on this.

@vtorrent: please be more open and honest with the community. We all understand there are a lot of things except crypto, and you have real life. But if you are serious about this project, remember the project is public, people spend their time, hashpower amd money on this, so you have some obligations toward them. When you tell "more news coming soon", give the dates! Your current behavior makes you look as scammer, while I am sure you are not!

And have one thing in mind: if you procrastinate longer, this idea (torrents in blockchain) will be implemented by someone else. Nobody will respect the fact that you were first to make a coin on this, if you don't do anything, others will do!

I hope you are right, but I am afraid you are wrong.
Dev, see you got a vote of confidence and all you do is keeping silent. Votes of confidence deserve attention.

+1 Guys! GEOcoin the best coin! To the moon soon!
Can you give me the GPS coordinates?  Cheesy
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: February 26, 2015, 02:01:07 PM
Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the support. The Qubit algorithm has been a big success for many miners allowing great distribution for everybody. Support for GEO is gaining tons of momentum.

As a way to show you guys the geocaching code is real and under development, here a little video geodropping some coins all over the world. No you can't test it yet, yes we are on track to release this in about a month, updates as we get closer to the release.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juyITLxwuXo

Hello, noob question, can you explain to me,what its for?

You can think of it like a real life treasure hunt. You can drop your coins anywhere in the world (shown in video). Someone else can go to that location with a smartphone or other device and get your coins. It's a way to geographically share coins or get people to go to locations. You can drop you coins on events or play outdoor sport games and the like.

Had not thought about how this was working before, but it really is like geocaching (which I have been doing with much pleasure some years ago). The only difference is that the cache is virtual (the geocoins). The idea that you can only get them if you are physically in that location is awesome!

Please post the TXid code. Tyvm. Smiley

Take a look at page 10 of this thread and you can find out yourself Wink

Thanks.

How do we know that you are not one of his alts ?

You don't. I like my privacy as much as he does.

Then what was it that inspired you to reward his alleged incompetance ?

I see that your very generous 9000 SPR donation consists of mostly 66.xx SPR blocks/inputs. How many of these were flashmined.. and easymined ? EDIT - ALL OF THEM. lol

I mined at low difficulty because I saw potential where others did not see it yet. Did that with Uro too once. Maybe next time you just read my posts when I am enthousiastic about a coin and you can have your share in the benefit. That is part of the game, you can hardly accuse me of flashmining or easymining because you missed the opportunity, it was all openly announced here.

The main dev is gone. Perhaps he will come back, perhaps not.  There are several talented people over at Spreadcoin.net who have taken the responsibility upon themselves to lead the coin.  Testing round three will be coming out relatively soon with variations built into the masternodes. If you are interested in testing watch Spreadcoin.net for updates.

Good to hear!

Never invest in coins that dont have known devs!!!!!
Now you have no way to contact him and you just have to wait to see if he shows up.
Better jump out of BTC also then  Cheesy

Are you stupid?  BTC has an army of known devs!
Now yes. Not in 2010. So now you see where Spreadcoin should be headed.

He didn't say "some" or "my main stash". He stated that ALL of his coins were allegedly lost.

He faked most, if not all of the donations hoping that onlookers would be fooled into thinking this was a supportive community. eg. monkey see.. monkey doo..

Nice try. Or NOT. Cheesy

For sure he did not fake all donations, because one was mine. I am still bag holding also. Could be life happened to Mr. Spread, and I hope for him he will come out good, and I hope for us he will return and go on with his work. He deserves a lot of respect for the 6 months he has been running Spreadcoin, and I really hope he will return to continue. In the meantime, it would be a good idea that people from the community with skills take a look at the code and make some effort in getting to know it and maybe even make it better and take over if Mr. Spread might not return.
With this whole thing I realized that a true decentralized coin also should be coded by more than one developer, because now this has become a bottleneck and single point of failure. With more developers even more decentralization will be attained.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTR] vTorrent - Share with freedom | Bittrex | C-CEX | EmpoEX on: February 20, 2015, 09:04:46 AM
I sincerely apologize for the delays and absent in this thread due to an unforeseen issue with my real life project/business this month, but I am still working on this project and I do intend to move forward with vTorrent.

In this coming week, I will try my best to keep the community updated along with some screenshot of the current development phrase on the torrent implementation.

Regards,
vTorrent

Would rather like to see some real thing instead of screenshots.
Did anyone test the beta Mac wallet? Guess not, because almost no one is using that OS.
Anyway, hate to say, but this really is a pathetic case of empty promises. The idea of this coin is intriguing, but nothing substantial has come out of it for 2 months now.  I hope that someone will make a decentralised torrentdatabase and searchengine soon, based on blockchaintechnology to reward people for offering content. It most definitely will not be vtorrent.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NoirShares UPDATE REQUIRED Advanced Features✔, Unique PoW✔ on: February 13, 2015, 08:15:53 AM
You are planning to use the original September snapshot, correct?

Yes, I am.

Every coin has PoS and i am trying to make things interesting

How come there is always an anticlimax after your promises?
Promises, promises... and so another week of waiting in vain on the spectacular outcome of all these promises has faded away in a slowly fading echo: promises... promises... promises...
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTR] vTorrent - Share with freedom | Bittrex | C-CEX | EmpoEX on: February 13, 2015, 07:45:42 AM

So the only way to get VTR (besides faucet or giveaway) is to buy it?

Do you have any idea of what each VTR would be worth in terms of bandwidth, or is this something that would change over time? Would the reward for lesser seeded torrents be higher?

Good question..and why would people want to go from paying NOTHING when downloading a torrent to PAYING?? what advantages are there of using Vtorrent and paying in VTR than just using good ol torrent for FREE?.

As I said earlier there are many torrent networks that are closed (you can do your own research on the matter); especially for files which have less demand, they can easily die out from a lack of seeding.

There are also some files on popular websites which die off because of a lack of seeders.

The other factor is that until now all torrent websites have been centralized--they come and go over time. The idea of this (if I understand it right) is to have a decentralized database of magnet links.

This is pretty much going to turn what bittorrent currently is into something more like Kazaa (i.e. easy to use for anyone).

I think the wallet download should include some free funds or there should be a way that anyone from anywhere can start using the program without having to invest first; this would remove a huge barrier of entry.

If vtorrent will ever work it would need the following elements to be succesful in my opinion:
- reward for offering content, not the downloaders pay, but the system. Maybe initially use the 6% premine for that, or make some kind of masternodes to handle the payments.
- a good system not only consisting of a decentralized database of magnet links (which in my opinion is not the key to success), but also  consisting of a good way to read and search in that decentralized database (datamining) without needing to access a website that could go offline anytime.
- a developer that is open about what is happening in development and attracts other good and skilled developers to participate in a joined effort.
- open source code. Closed source will not work because nobody will trust the code. We are talking about wallets here and an anonymous developer.

you know what I do not understand these forums when you no longer believe in this coin you 'll just step out instead of sitting whine  Cry Kiss

Why I am here? Maybe for  the sake of freedom of speech? Or maybe I am here because I do not want people to lose money to a Dev who obviously is not going to deliver. Sure hope I am wrong in this one, but I have learned that most of the time if the Dev is as vague about his progress as this one, he is trying to hide his incompetence or unwillingness to deliver.

BTW, are you going to test the new beta?

And by the way i canīt download any wallet from dev ann post, (maybe the files are deleted, the link follow only to filedropper.com ). Can someone  try?

Thank you for your report,

All links has been updated and link for new beta (OSX version) is also posted in the first post as feedback from private beta has been good so far.

Thank you for your support.

Dev please compile a Windows version of the beta, if you want to be taken serious.
Also do something with the feedback people are giving here, for example, change the total to 10 million and the premine in 6% in the OP, because the 20 million and 3% are not correct, as we have stated before.

I have a tip for you, sell your BTC and buy an iMac then you have a good computer , windows sucks , look at the problems that people have with windows wallet and people who have problems imac
99% windos problems
01 % imac

have patience everything will be fine , I have 100 % confidence in the dev
better good programming slowly
quickly and you get garbage

 Grin

Absolute nonsense; all coins should be released on all OS and Linux/open source should be the first priority.

I agree with you  Smiley I am not using Windows myself BTW, was asking it for other people, I am a Linux and open source proponent. Have been using Linux since 15 years (specifically Ubuntu in the last 5 years) and have not used Windows for quite some time. I am able to compile for Linux, so would not be a problem for me if Dev would put the BETA source code on Github, but he seems to have some problems with that.

BTW, I see no progress with this coin at all, but might be only me having too high standards.
Anyway I see Frazazel has an iMac, so at least he will be able to test the new beta. Would be nice to hear from you and see some screenshots and commentary on the exchange features.

Some updates on vTorrent development progress,

I have been working on vTorrent almost full time recently, adding many new unique features to the client, I just need to work on a few things more and new beta should be ready for public.

Here are some current screenshot,

To all community members, please do not hesitate to throw out some great idea for our upcoming betas.

Sorry for the delays and thank you for your support as always.

Hi Dev, a kind reminder that 6 days have passed since your last reply in this thread and everybody is waiting impatiently for the new beta with those many unique features you promised, but would not reveal yet. Please keep us updated on the progress  Wink

A good idea would be if you could provide us with some proof of code. I am getting a little bit tired of only seeing screenshots. I am good with GIMP too, does not mean I can code. Not seeing any sign of implementing Torrent stuff either.

Any community member using any version of Mac OSX and willing to help us test the pre-public beta version of the client, feel free to contact me.

@Frigga77 I am sorry to let you down but I am seriously quite bad at GIMP  Smiley

Regards

Just wondering, why didn't you compile a beta client for windows? Much more testers if you do.
I sure hope you did not GIMP the pictures, but to me they do not say much until I see working code. You have a way of avoiding talking about technical details. And to me, that is worrying. I see that a lot of others like the concept of this coin, I do too, but I am just not that convinced that you are able to do what you promised. Did not see anything recently about the bug-solving either.
