81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NoirShares UPDATE REQUIRED Advanced Features✔, Unique PoW✔ on: January 18, 2015, 11:15:15 AM
I'm back full time.

It's been 5 days, and NO Barwizi is not back full time. Full time means each, and every day, you check the forum, reply to posts, and ensure you respond to queries. He's absent for 5 full days once again.  So when Barwizi speaks and promises something again, do yourself a favor and don't listen.

It's very apparent he has an undiagnosed psychological disorder which makes him believe he's doing the right thing, eventhough he isn't.

I think that Barwizi also has the intention to scam. Maybe he did not when he started NoirShares 1 year ago, but he has done a lot of damage to the cryptocommunity, including his taking a lot of BTC from the NoirShares Fund Holders and buying miners, but not repaying them in any way for it. They did not benefit at all, he has been mining for his own benefit with their money.

I'm Dutch and this is utter ridiculous analogy.

At the time bulb growers thought the price would keep going up. When the market went down they thought it was a blip.

The analogy is this is a bubble that has popped. Where is it ridiculous.

You are 13 months late with your theory.

I need Chinese Translations, willing to double the bounty.

I hope you did not pay the bounty for the Dutch translation, because it is rubbish, just someone that has been using Google Translate I guess.

My main problem with this coin is that the Dev is practically giving no technical information at all about the technology behind it. There are no signs of development whatsoever, even the so-called beta client for OSX that should be tested by some people that have OSX, seems not to have been downloaded or tested by anyone (I presume most don't have OSX). So there is no evidence that the Dev even has implemented some parts of some promised code (in-wallet trading). He says he is busy with some bug, but no signs of that either, and it could easily be used as an excuse for not being able to show any progress on the torrent part.
Don't get me wrong, I would love the idea of a coin that also handles torrents (although I doubt if it would be something that could be easily built on the blockchain, the blockchain might get too big, and every new feature in a wallet is a potential security risk for wallet itself), but I doubt that this Dev has the intention or is able to build it.

You can develop torrent on sidechain tech. if you ask me and avoid problems on blockchain to be too large and also avoid risks for main wallet. It requires work but I think it can be done.

The dev told me that he can get the magnet link into the blockchain and it would be the same size as txid, so no bloat.

@ frigga77, the dev did mail a few of us earlier in the thread and show us how he would get the magnet link into the blockchain. I would agree that he hasn't been the most active poster.

So what exactly are the ideas of the Dev about getting the magnet link into the blockchain and getting the info out like an index like PirateBay in the wallet? Would not be too hard to give some idea about it without actually giving us the code. I am sure a lot of us want to know, so is there someone that can give that info? Besides, did anyone test the Beta Wallet?

Am I missing a blockexplorer in the OP? Read it 3 times, but cannot seem to find it...

So basically no visible progress??

Am i the only one who thinks there is probably a guy out there laughing his ass off at how he used the same scam thrice ?
No, you are not the only one. But guess people that are heavily invested do not want to see red flags.

I'm back full time.

1) Network will be up and running within 24 hours.
2) We will have a quick but very pointed discussion on the way forward
3) Sorry  Sad

lol, right Wink

Please understand that the reason for the delay is mainly due to the bug in client that we have.

I have posted the updates about this just a few days ago.

I know pnoch and if he still works for vTorrent, then I have confidence in this project, because he is very skilled coder. Last time we talked (about 5 days ago) he was travelling outside his country and probably that is why developing is now on hold.

User pnoch is also working with me on the bug when he is able, in turn I will personally reward him with the same amount that he have lost due to this same bug.

...

xCash head developer, johnnyxcash is also looking into this issue.

Regards

Could you also give some insight on the testing of the Beta Wallet in OSX? Any people you know are testing?
90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTR] vTorrent - Share with freedom | Bittrex | C-CEX | EmpoEX on: January 11, 2015, 09:21:52 AM
Hi, I want to say that I am completly out of this coin with loss.
OP unfortunatly not responding to my privat messages anymore. He is way behind his plans in terms of scripting and still no sign of any code regarding the torrent part. Anyway I will watch this coin further and if their will be any progress I will jump in again, but actually for me it seems like this coin has no future with the lack of ressources.

Later man.

He said he had real life issues.. I can more then respect that.
Well that's a pretty legit reason if you ask me for not being around right now.  Hope all is well with him and hope that when he is done with his issues he will be back full force to bring this coin to where it needs to be Smiley
It can be a legit reason. It also can be an excuse. With this coin I get a feeling like with NRS. Dev seemed to be kind and hardworking, but nothing happened for a very long time. Promises, promises. I hope for you all that this is different, but my guts tell me that this is only intended as a quick way to make money for the Dev, and that there will be no development until POW has ended and that after POW the coin will be left for dead and Dev will go on with another coin. If I am wrong, then the Dev must at least be able to present the code of the Beta Client he made for OSX and the alpha code for the very first wallet he is talking about in the OP, or some whitepaper that shows he knows what he is doing. I know some people seem to have got a PM from him about his plans, but no details have been published here. His statement he might make it close sourced is only a way for him to be able to postpone providing any further details until POW is done and he will be out. There is too little to give confidence to the Dev here, although he is always very polite in answering, he is not saying much about any development.
I will happily remove the above statement if he is able to prove me wrong.

Saw this in the OP:
"Beta version with native in-client realtime trading released"
Only I cannot find this beta version in github. So who is testing this and where would I be able to download that wallet?

Itīs in the OP.

"Only Mac OSX version is available at the moment, support for other operating will follow soon.

Mac OSX (QT) |  vTorrent-Client1.1b.dmg - f38ff5f22564ba146327e4f3e1fbc247 (MD5 hash)"

(Mac OSX (QT) is link, but it is in OP, feel free to try)

So who did test the Mac OSX beta version?
Strange though that an open source project is not releasing the beta code for review while testing. The Mac OSX version is a compiled version, one can not review the code.

Last update on github was 26 days ago?

Yes, that was uploaded on the release date I think.

With 2 million coins out there and Dev owning 600,000, Dev still owns 1/3 of the total supply. Reason enough to keep an eye on the premine.
I traced most of this premine to 6 addresses. Also a considerable amount of POS has been going there, so the 600,000 also has given him POS.
Why is the premine not in 1 address? That would be more transparent, people need to be able to keep an eye on it. Or better: burn at least 400,000, preferrably all of it.

You are right about me divided all of my premines to multiple different addresses, the reason for this is purely for better security of the premines and it is also true that I am staking with those address.

Are you proposing that I shouldn't be staking with those coins?

Since I don't have any kind of miner myself, the only way for me to get more of VTR is through staking and buying which is exactly what I am doing. I hope to accumulated as much as possible when the price is still cheap.

I am trying to make this project as fair as possible, I am not asking for donation nor any kind of presale to get the project started.

I openly declared from the beginning that there is 3% premine and it is being used for the development cost.

Since you seems to have problem with my premines, I will be more than happy to burn all of it if you or anyone willing to funds or pay me to develop the project further.

Regards

The problem with large premines and anonymous Devs is that it is relatively easy to dump all on the market once the price is established and then run off. It has happened before and makes people very cautious about investing their money, with good reason. I am not suggesting that you are like that, only that you have the odds against you. Trust is build once you show your capabilities. You also did not want to write a whitepaper and nothing new is in this coin, only a promise for new features. POW is relatively short (guess around 6 weeks are left), and a lot of coins this summer have seen a short POW and a Dev that ran after a dump. You should have thought about all this before you launched this coin. I think it is at least suspicious when people come with great ideas but are not able to show the exact content of their ideas from the start. If you think you are able to make this, you also should be able to produce some more technical information, you are the one that wants people to believe in this coin, then make them believe with proof of development.

edit: and yes, I do have a problem with premines in general, because I think a developer should earn his money after he has shown he is able to produce good code, not before.
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: December 19, 2014, 12:27:19 PM
SPR will grow bigger than bigger in the coming months. Grin
I believe much bigger than most people think to be honest
My exepected price of SPR is higher than DRK.
a lightweight whitepaper from somebody who is clearly a very talented developer.
How is the whitepaper lightweight???

did you read it? Tongue

I've just read it again and it says Spreadcoin  is a currency with no mining pools that has a smoother block reward decrease and a marginally streamlined transaction format.

What about this part? Does not sound lightweight to me, but I am not a programmer.

<cut from whitepaper>
To prove knowledge of the private key and whole block there are two new fields in the block header:
MinerSignature and hashWholeBlock.
MinerSignature is a digital signature of all fields of the block header except for the
hashWholeBlock. Changing any information in the block requires regeneration of this signature which
means that it is necessary to recalculate it during each iteration of the mining process. This implies that
miner must be able to sign any arbitrary data.
hashWholeBlock is a SHA-256 hash of the block data arranged as follows:
Padding ensures that there is no incentive to mine empty blocks without transactions. Padding values
are computed using simple algorithm which initializes last 32 bytes (8 uint32) with hashPrevBlock
and then goes backward and computes remaining uint32 values using the following recursive formula:
𝐼𝑖 = 𝐼𝑖+3 ∙ 𝐼𝑖+7. This algorithm ensures that there is no efficient way to compute padding values on the
fly during hash computation which otherwise could potentially give some advantage to mine empty
blocks in certain computing environments.
It is important that block is hashed twice. If it was hashed only once then pool could hash the beginning
of the block and send resulting hash state to the miners. Each miner would then modify some
information in the end of the block and recalculate the hash based on the known state without actual
knowledge about what is contained in the beginning of the block. Appending block data to itself make it
necessary to know the whole block to recalculate hashWholeBlock.
</cut from whitepaper>

That's a description of how one of the features is going to work.
I thought it is a desciption of how of this feature (true decentralization) already works? In my opinion this whitepaper does not describe what is going to be implemented, but what already is implemented. I thought another whitepaper will come when Mr. Spread has reviewed Darkcoin and has decided if and how he will implement Darknodes.

100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTR] vTorrent - Share with freedom | NO ICO | Start mining yours today! on: December 14, 2014, 04:29:49 PM
One thing I just don't get. If you have an idea like Dev has with this coin, you should be able to release a whitepaper with launch. Only a screenshot will not do, it even looks pasted. Why people still mine coins that promise features that are not delivering a good whitepaper or something special before launch? If no whitepaper at launch, how can you trust he will be able to build this, if he even cannot tell you at this moment how exactly he is going to build it? It looks like good timing with the whole Piratebay drama and this is a newby account and there is a 3% premine. I am not saying this Dev is not going to deliver, but it is more likely he will not deliver than that he will...
So Dev, whitepaper today?

I had the same feeling about the screenshot that it looks pasted especially around the 'TORRENT' button area, but after I went through their source code on github, I found that the button itself and some of the torrent related stuff is actually there in the source code but disabled or commented out for some reason.

Here some of the stuff I've found

#DEFINES += TORRENT
#CONFIG += torrent_sample
#CONFIG += torrent_enable

torrent_enable {

HEADERS += src/qt/torrent/qbtsession.h \
           src/qt/torrent/qtorrenthandle.h \
           src/qt/torrent/bandwidthscheduler.h \
           src/qt/torrent/trackerinfos.h \
           src/qt/torrent/torrentspeedmonitor.h \
           src/qt/torrent/filterparserthread.h \
           src/qt/torrent/alertdispatcher.h \
           src/qt/torrent/torrentstatistics.h

SOURCES += src/qt/torrent/qbtsession.cpp \
           src/qt/torrent/qtorrenthandle.cpp \
           src/qt/torrent/torrentspeedmonitor.cpp \
           src/qt/torrent/alertdispatcher.cpp \
           src/qt/torrent/torrentstatistics.cpp \
           src/qt/torrent/filterparserthread.cpp

!contains(DEFINES, DISABLE_GUI) {
  HEADERS += src/qt/torrent/torrentmodel.h \
             src/qt/torrent/shutdownconfirm.h

  SOURCES += src/qt/torrent/torrentmodel.cpp \
             src/qt/torrent/shutdownconfirm.cpp
}
} #torrent_enable

Anyway, I might be wrong but this looks very legit to me, but I still don't know why dev would remove all of the torrent related stuff in this released.

Indeed I have found this code in vTorrentclient.pro. And I found the  same code in https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorrent/blob/master/src/qtlibtorrent/qtlibtorrent.pri. Mark that this code is only a small part of qBittorrent and only would import libraries into the source of the wallet. It is just copy-pasted, no proof of having implemented it.
Sorry, but I still stay very sceptical with coins that just pop up when the time is just right (Piratebay down) and POW is relatively short and Dev is unknown and taking 3% premine.
My best guess: Dev will happily make use of the code he has put a bounty on of 1%.
