So ... you'd be best to just do the simple BM downgrade to a non-SSH lockout version, then install braiins

A 2019 firmware of Bitmain doesn't permit you to downgrade to an earlier version, you are forced to remove the signature check to load any other firmware than a 2019 firmware of Bitmain.
And I never installed the Asicseer firmware, I just removed the signature check with their installer. You can do this without installing firmware.

i assume you had the jumper correct and you could boot the sdcard.

Even with the SD-card in the right orientation and the jumper in the correct position the controller boards without the U6 chip do not boot from SD-card.

Good luck if you decide to try it, post back your results!

In the end the solution was quite simple and it even is much easier than installing Braiins from SD-card.
First I used ASICseer to remove the signature check, and immediately after this I used the Braiins OS+ Web Package to upgrade to Braiins from the web interface.

No need to flash older Bitmain firmware first, and no need to take the miner apart and move a jumper back and forth.

With the halving well behind us and with summer coming I decided it was time to install Braiins OS+ on all my S9's for some more efficient mining.
All my S9's are running the March 2019 firmware from Bitmain that crippled SSH, so I had to use a SD-card to install Braiins.
But about 25% of my S9's are missing the U6 chip behind the SD-card slot, and these machines won't boot from SD.

What is the best way to install Braiins on machines in this situation?

My controller board looks like this:

The orientation of the SD-card is not the problem.

On Slush the last Namecoin that was processed was at block 41647 on 2018-01-12 10:28.
According to coinmarketcap.com the highest price of Namecoin around that time was $7.93 on 2018-01-13 14:24, but a week after this the price was already below $5 and another week later it was below $4.

Yeah, they didn't live up to the promises they made about NMC. But a lot of other pools did not even offer the option to merge mine NMC. And the last time I calculated a whole year of merged mining NMC was worth as much as one day of mining Bitcoin.

I'm not even going to bother to claim my NMC, so I really don't understand why you are being so angry about it.

It's like selling something for 73.25 and then going completely bananas when you find out they gave you 73 dollars and a nickel instead of a quarter.

If you provide them a NMC address they will send you your accumulated NMC.

But if you haven't mined at Slush for a very long time this won't be much anyway.
So not sure why you are making such a fuss about it and are calling them bastards.

Well, here you go:

Quote
Dear miners,

As you might know, we have been merged mining Namecoin (NMC) for several years. However, due to exchanges delisting it and a general lack of liquidity, it has become infeasible for us to exchange NMC for BTC in order to add it to your payouts.

Therefore, we have decided to send the accumulated NMC reward directly to any users who provide an NMC wallet address to claim their reward during the next two months. We apologize for the inconvenience this causes, but we feel it’s better than not distributing the NMC proceeds at all.

Moving forward, we will stop distributing NMC rewards due to the aforementioned reasons. We will reconsider this decision in the event that NMC becomes substantially more valuable in the future, but for the time being, we will begin using NMC merged mining revenue to support our open-source projects such as Braiins OS and Stratum V2 that bring benefits to the whole mining community.

Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

.1 BTC for the next 18 or 19 blocks until halving.

KanoPool mined 2 blocks in the past 4 months, how is this pool going to mine 18 or 19 blocks until the halving?

95.48 %
10 Blocks

93.64 %
50 Blocks

98.07 %
250 Blocks

where do you get this?

for slush I see:

137.94
10 blocks

105.26
50 blocks

99.84
250 blocks

Between your post and the post of Freemine is a difference of 8 blocks.

Hi there,

I have been away from mining for a longer time. I opened a new account but was wondering if my original account "disclaimer201" still exists somewhere at Slush? I think I lost it and access to it when the pool website switched to the new design.

If it's gone okay, but it would be nice if there was some way to retrieve it. On top of the fun, I also discontinued using my old mail address, but I could reactivate it just for the purpose of recovering the account, if possible.

Thanks, happy new year 2020 to everyone and good luck mining to all!

You will need access to the mail address that is connected with the account.
With this mail address you can ask for a password reset:

once the 50 blocks gets to 150%  or the 250 blocks get to 97.5%     ill point 50% of my gear back here

Well, there you go. 250 blocks is at 98.13% now.

this is why i make my own statistic... i keep a journal of how much block was mined everyday since in join slush 1 month ago. and maybe i dont calculate right but from the hashing power of the pool 4.5eh (slush pool) vs the total hashing power of the bitcoin community 57 eh (from google) it seem to me that somehow and somewhat those number should be at least related. and from the month i have passed on slush pool, it seem like that hashing power of slush pool does not bring its share of blocks and i wonder why. but like i said maybe it is me who doesnt calculate right. i am new to mining but i would think that 11% of hashing power would bring 11% of blocks and not 5%.
No?

A few months ago the total hashrate was 57 Eh/s, the total hashrate is much higher now: https://www.blockchain.com/charts/hash-rate (and remember that the numbers in this graph are estimates).

If you calculate how much bitcoin you should get with your hashrate on a site like Coinwarz, and you compare this with the 10/50/250 block numbers on Slush, you will see these numbers are correct. (And yes, we are on a really bad stroke of luck right now.)

Yeah, 16+ hour blocks are getting the new normal it seems. I wonder when the day comes we will only find 1 block or no block at all.

For every period with the same difficulty I calculate what I should have gotten and what the payout on Slush was.
For 11.890.594.958.796 it was 91,6%, for 12.759.819.404.409 it was 90,0% and this period with only 2,5 days to go it will probably even be lower.

But hey, April, May and June were good months, and we don't even have to go back that far to "even out".
But I have to admit, on Slush three periods around 90% is a really bad stroke of luck judging from my experience.

I never really cared much about the NMC, but after this post:
The NMC rewards for the previous year will be paid out within a few weeks.
We are very sorry for the delay.
And with the luck being what it is, an extra payout would be very welcome.

Come on guys, I really like what you are doing with Braiins OS, but please give the pool some attention too.
14  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Braiins OS: open-source mining firmware [S9, T1]. New release includes AsicBoost on: May 24, 2019, 04:36:44 PM
I disabled the fans and connected the miner to the air extraction system of the building. Also swapped out the APW7 for a normal desktop PSU. The miner is almost completely silent now.

With Braiins I underclocked the miner to 325 MHz, and I'm getting a hashrate of 6.5 / 7 Th/s with temperatures of 80 / 85 degrees Celcius. (When things heat up during summer I can go as low as 200 MHz.)

When playing around with the MHz I also noticed that the miner will still shutdown when --fan-dangerous-temp is reached, even when using --no-sensor-scan. (So a failing air extraction system will luckily not destory the miner.)

I'm very happy with Braiins, because before all the boards in this miner were considered to be dead because of the problems they had.

I asked about this, and there is good news for you:

Quote from: Artemis3
"would it be possible to just ignore the sensors on boards/chains with problems?"
I think this feature request would be to disable sensors per board (chain) instead of the whole miner.

Quote from: Jan Čapek
that's implemented for the upcoming release

That is very good news indeed! Thanks for asking!

There is nothing you can do when you are powering up a fan you get full power to it, until the controller boots and orders it to slow down. The only way to solve this would be with a hardware solution, such as feeding 7v instead of 12v for 1min or such...

Ah, I see. So it's not a setting, but fans getting the full 12v until the controller kicks in.

Well, maybe I will just disable the fans altogether and look for an other way of cooling. In my case noise is the biggest issue.

Would it be possible (maybe in future releases) to control the startup fan speed?

And instead of using no-sensor-scan to ignore all temperature sensors, would it be possible to just ignore the sensors on boards/chains with problems?
