241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bubble imminent on: February 17, 2011, 07:23:36 PM
A bubble is imminent or the bursting of the current bubble is imminent?  I think a lot of people have good faith in Bitcoin, and there are a lot of new users (buyers) pouring into the system.  I had some sell orders in around USD 1, but I withdrew them.  I don't even like the idea of holding dirty, government money any more.
I did the same, i withdrew orders from 1.30, think about it, in second life the economy reached a total amount of 28 million usd dollars, compared to btc (there are 5 million bitcoins right now) it's 6$ per btc and Second Life is for losers....
btc can go much higher then 6$/1btc, it's reasonable to look for 25-30$ for 1 btc within 2-3 years from now.
242  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dare to be Rich! on: February 15, 2011, 06:09:54 PM
Well, the official site doesn't mention it. Unless it is in big letters: This is a Ponzi Scheme and I am free to stop it and take any remaining money at any time then he could be pottentially be found guilty of fraud. However, he has only been returning your money.

MyBitcoin.com is also free to stop its service anytime. Is it a scam too?

The point is, the website makes it clear that you are sending 1 BTC and you'll randomly get fractions of it upon future members' inscriptions, if there are any. The exact way it works is documented, there's no lying or deceiving of any sort. I subscribed (http://fxnet.co.cc/?ref=283) and sent 1 BTC – when doing so, I was perfectly aware that I might never see it again, but hey, that's part of the game, and a risk I voluntarily accepted to take out of fun.

I agree, for just 1 btc, i did it for fun and let's see:)

Ultimate Mining Infrastructure: UMI
Sounds cool, doesn't mean anything Cheesy
Nice, maybe also UMCS - ULTIMATE MINING COLLECTOR SYSTEM

I recommend you change PMS (Pooled Mining Server) to some other acronym.  PMS is also a popular term for Premenstrual Syndrome used all the time in U.S. popular culture.

lol, everybody who live with woman know term "PMS". But I never used this term for my service; everybody call it simply 'pool'. Although all ideas for better service name are welcome :-)

You can try something using "Collector" , maybe PBC "Pooled Blocks Collector" but of course PBC it's also Primary biliary cirrhosis:) or Peanut butter cup:).....

...Also, I call everybody to public confirmation that you are receiving yours rewards. Thanks!

I have finally crossed over my Send threshold, 5.20 received:) thanks Slush!
You might add a function for an automatic donation in %, if the user set it to 3% for example, 3% of his bitcoins are automatically sent to you as donation.

246  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Ripped off by a pool? on: December 20, 2010, 12:33:44 PM
No, I cannot send this, because old system did not register relation user-block-reward, only user-reward. When block was found, reward was rised and shares deleted. So I cannot tell for those old blocks, who should be paid for which block. Sorry. New system is better, I store all information for later stats.

All remaining payments (reward>=threshold) will be processed when next block become mature. There is much more in rewards on site, but few users trust me and their's send threshold is very high, so I don't need to pay off them yet.
Thanks for the explanation, now it's all very clear. Keep Up the good work.

So concerns about payments aside, how do I get my miner to connect to the pool?

I have my account set up on slush's site and I registered a worker.

I'm using m0mchil's python GPU miner and I know I need to use "http://mining.bitcoin.cz:8332" somehow, but I'm just not figuring out the next step.

Thanks.

I  use this string
poclbm.exe -o mining.bitcoin.cz -p 8332 --user=yourusername.loginsuffix --pass=yourpass -d0

Final worker login will be in form <your username>.<login suffix>
so if your username is test and worker is test01 the user will be test.test01
--user=test.test01 for example

-d0 for specifying graphic device #1

It's really insane to think he would go to all this work building a site and a reputation to throw it away for <1000BTC. It's so obvious that it isn't malicious, just give him time.
Yep, absolutely, but you know, by the law or large numbers there's always someone who never stops complaining:)
249  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (>4000Mhash/s, join us!) on: December 20, 2010, 10:25:06 AM
Hey, slash, are you teazing or what?  I, again, am not on that list. I worked since the block 98139, and on the all blocks since.  This list obviously is not right, since it adds to 50, and you are missing me, and other people on the forum.  So, somebody else is getting more.
I thought the same, btw if you look under your account stat you'll see that there are confirmed bitcoin (Reward:  xxxx Your confirmed balance (in BTC) from previous rounds) , sooner or later that amount will be paid out to you.I guess so.

Gene, it is too early to call this a scam dont you think? come on a bit of patience it's required, give him enough time to organize a better procedure for payments before complaining.

Hey slush, that's exactly what I get in my logs?

enky, what are you mining on?
overclocked GPU ?

No, it is a standard Nvidia 8800 GTS 512, clocked at @700MHz

I joined the remote server at 173.255.205.10 with a Nvidia 8800 GTS 512mb DDR3 (448 cores at 750mhz)
i have an average of 17400 khash/sec, not bad compared to 4400 Khash/sec of my intel Q6600 2.4ghz quadcore.

the log:
