1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinTracking - Profit/Loss Portfolio and Tax Reporting for Digital Currencies on: January 24, 2022, 01:26:45 AM
can you please increase the limit on decimal places and the character limit for ticker symbols? almost all ETH tokens have 18 decimal places and many have tickers going up to 18 characters. this product is incredibly confusing for me right now because the limits are much lower than that. it doesn't actually skew my taxes that much when 1 ETH is only a few thousand dollars and all but the last 8 digits get chopped off. but there are defi deposit tokens that are worth way more than ETH (think north of 2 million USD) and you get just a tiny fraction of one in exchange for thousands of dollars. they also tend to have really long ticker symbols.

I want to enter 0.000000421187506859 MOOMAIUSDC-MIMATIC (that's worth about 1 USDC right now!!!) but I can only put in 0.00000042 MOOMAIUS. it is very hard for me to leave myself notes in the comments about what I actually bought and it is much harder for me to multiply the value to make all the decimals fit and remember what I did. koinly supports all the digits and the full length tickers. why can't you?

workaround: the software can only fit between 0.00000000 and 9999999999999999.99999999
move the decimal point to the right until there are 8 after it. this increases the value by a factor of 10000000000 (10 billion). 0.000000421187506859 becomes 4211.87506859
then put the full length ticker under Group.
if I go past the 999999... I have to split it up into multiple transactions. see how hard all this is to remember?

I am using AAVE Polygon for lending. I exchanged 80 MATIC for 80 amWMATIC and made a corresponding manual transaction in cointracking. Now every few seconds my amWMATIC balance increases a tiny bit because that is how the amWMATIC token works. How would I record the receipt of the lending interest as manual entries? Surely I don't have to have a transaction every few seconds. I also exchanged a few hundred DAI for amDAI (cointracking has it listed as aDAI but the M is because I am on Polygon). It's the same deal. Every few seconds my balance of this new token increases to give me the interest. How do I capture this as manual transactions? I want to get this right to get the correct cost basis when I swap my amWMATIC or amDAI to something else someday.

Anyone know why Shadow is disabled at Bittrex and Excoin?

Why has nobody noticed yet

Poloniex has frozen deposits and withdrawals as well

We should go to other exchanges.
Not bittrex.
Maybe https://exco.in/exchange/BTC/SDC or https://poloniex.com/exchange#btc_sdc.
Otherwise we never see the rise in SDC.

I do all my SDC trades (and pretty much every other coin) on poloniex
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Storj - Decentralized Storage on: December 30, 2014, 04:12:41 AM
What about external drives? I have a few terabyte externals that I would love to use if its possible. I have my data up in two different places right now, but Storj seems really handy by being encrypted.

I don't see why not, but bare (internal) drives do tend to be cheaper.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Metadisk - Blockchain Based File Sharing - Powered by Storj on: December 30, 2014, 03:51:19 AM
People would need to keep their computers on for this to work right? What if you need to access your data and they turned their computer off? Great idea though, I'm excited to see how this turns out.

I imagine people would have an incentive to leave their computers on 24/7 to earn more. I know I certainly will. I also imagine that file storage would have redundancy for safety reasons.

you need to leave your computer running. storj uses "heartbeats" to check the status of a node. If a node drops (ie you turn off your server), it will seek out another node to copy the file you hosted, then it will end your contract. It does this so 3 copies (minimum) of the hosted file is available online at all times. When you contract ends you will no longer be paid storj because you are no longer providing the service of hosting the encrypted files.

There's no way to resume a contract? That's a bit silly. What if I need to turn off a server for maintenance? Do I have to start a new one?

looks like I'm removing all my sell orders  Grin

I think in the future a 1.5 - 3 billion valuation would be fair .01 to 0.02 btc some day.

Bethecloud

I haven't had a whole bitcoin to myself in a very long time. But lets not make this thread about price speculation until the software is finished with testing and more people start using it.

What happens when hard drives become ultra cheap in the future? Say there's a 4TB hard drive available for $50 in a few years. Will this hurt the price of SJCX over time?

We could try a marketing bounty. I don't at all mean to advertise SJXC because this thread is not about SJXC, but look what they are currently doing to get the word out about their coin: https://storjtalk.org/index.php?topic=2202.0

They're giving away free coins to the first 50 people who post ten replies to their bitcointalk threads and ten unique tweets containing their handle and a hashtag.

Maybe this can be organized by the time the marketplace is ready.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DriveShare - Earn money by sharing your extra hard drive space on: December 30, 2014, 01:00:48 AM
Bitcoin was just the leading edge of the wave.  Decentralization is the surge that is pushing the wave.   A Tsunami is coming.  Not just Stroj, Drive Share, Meta Disk, Maid Safe, but a whole suite of products will follow.  these are just the leaders in the pack.   It's about efficiency.  Create an open market for commodities and you will create efficiencies.

I can see a future when decentralized VM's will be available.  I know on my computer I could easily sell off 1 or 2 CPU and 2 to 4 gig of memory.  The drive space will be through Storj.  The user could fire up the image which is stored on Storj and run as they needed.  Then when done they simply shut it down and only pay for the time they were running.

Decentralization is king.

Hopefully some day I can get rid of my seedbox and seed from storj or maid safe or something similar. Or maybe I can share the extra space on my VPS (that is if Ramnode stops being so stingy on me  Roll Eyes)

I wish Group C let people in with fewer STORJ

I think you meant fewer SJCX, which is the Crypto currency used by Storj.

My mistake. It's a little confusing.

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Storj - Decentralized Storage on: December 30, 2014, 12:13:32 AM

What price range should I expect for Storj and will it be permanent too?

Prices for storing files on the Storj network will be dictated by the market (supply vs demand). Most likely they will be waaay lower than Dropbox rates.

Keep in mind that price for space is on Storj is one thing and the value of SJCX is another.  Both will be controlled by the market.  the valuation of SJCX will be factor into the cost of space on the Storj network.

So they're not tied together? how are they separated?

Would now be a good time to work on a multipool? I'd really love to get paid in SC for my X11 or X13 work.

I don't think they should spend the premine to have blog posts written. They were gonna have us campaign through social media instead. People will write blog posts as soon as we get our kickass feature set.

Well the dev already dumped all of that. He needs more of your money if you want him to keep stringing you along. Otherwise he'll just move on to his new scam - he already has the domain. It's a lot easier making a quick 100 BTC off a fresh premine scam than it is trying to bring a coin back from the dead and spend hundreds of hours of work innovating. Why not just clone his source coin, change a couple things, premine, and lie about some crazy hyped up feature that will never see the light of day? Worked great on you guys and will work great on a new batch of suckers. I'm sure some of you will even fall for it again. He gets off completely free because he just gets to vanish and make a new name.

I know what you mean, man. I only have about a thousand silk and I'd love to get some more soon too!
