hickups with an asynchronous ordering process would push the false order count higher.
Of course, this is the first report of problems with the ordering process, so I can't be sure of the real effect.
I am very confident that 70+ orders per day is a false volume.
I can confirm personally burning at least 6 "uncompleted" orders before i got a good one, and this was just the first day pre-orders were available due to site timeouts / payment timeouts / etc. I'm sure others can say the same between now and then. I'd be interested for BFL's actually "paid/completed" numbers.

So if Pirate does indeed close operations in an orderly fashion the bets he will have won will make a nice retirement gift.
The event of dissolution of the BTCST business and return of all owed funds to all account holders, also shall not be construed as a default event.

With BCS&T dissolving, curious where this thread will go... The way I read this, as long as he repays deposit, he still wins the bet: The event of dissolution of the BTCST business and return of all owed funds to all account holders, also shall not be construed as a default event.

if i get paid interest from BST (as stated by pirate), yes it will.
Thanks man, it's been a pleasure to deal with you..

For example, say the overall network hashrate is 15 terahash per second. So our expected difficulty would be:
difficulty ~= 15,000,000,000,000 * 1.4E-07 difficulty = 2,100,000
Or 15 * 14E4 = 2,100,000 Thank you.

Is there a good formula (the one on the wiki confuses me) that say "At a given overall Network Hash rate, what should the difficulty be?"

Explosion in orders.. I just placed an order in the #5300 range.

Two thoughts/questions:
1. Referral bonus needed! I've sent no less than 5 people your way in the last month/two. 2. Email address needed for people who don't want to forum register? PM is fine...

Still far longer than it used to be.. The money used to transfer from GOX->Dwolla inside 24 hours.. Now Dwolla shows nothing for a minimum of 7-10 days... Opening support tickets with EITHER party is pointless. Gox blames Dwolla, Dwolla says "We see no money yet from Gox, nothing we can do".

When/if BFL delivers on the ASIC within the ballpark of stated specs, one will not be able to give away 5800 series GPU. Gamers will not want them (2 generations old, and the 8000 series is coming up(?)). The market will be flooded with them, as miners try to sell them off. <...> One can pick up a new XFX 7970 at Newegg for 429.99 w/ free shipping at this point (there is a HIS model that comes to 399.99 after rebate!), yet somehow people are sill buying them on EBAY for more. Just my .0002 BTC on how I am protecting my investment during this uncertain time. Precisely. Smart.

I'm sure this question is on your list to answer, but what I want to know is:
1. How do you feel about the published timeline for shipping BFL ASIC hardware. Is it realistic? What percentage of orders do you expect to be fulfilled on that timeline?
|

Withdrawal completed, thank you.
|
|
|
Any guesses or rough estimates for the "dark/unstated" orders to match these, based on the order numbers? 1:1? 1:2?
|
|
|
Withdraw request completed within moments of request. Putting more in as we speak, thank you..

I realize there's no volume there, but I wonder about an exchange like CampBX, being US-based.. whether it would be faster to Dwolla. I had high hopes for CampBX, but it seems to have fallen to disuse like so many other attempts.

Theory: -- considers BTC as a consumable item? -- prefers cash to purchase BTC? -- enjoys anonymity? -- is legal?
He takes cash for BTC at (some magic percentage >7%) above the market price, uses the cash to buy more coin, takes his percentage, rinse and repeat. He needs the coin (BTCS&T/GPUMAX) so he has enough coins on hand to fulfill demand, then buys via gox/dark/etc to renew the coin pool.
Perhaps bitcoin-only gambling operations?
RE: Who Pirate is, where he is, etc:
In 5 minutes of focused Googling, you can find a trail of 3 people.. You could call them "The Idea", "Zee Code", and "Money", or T, Z, and M for short.

imho, with the addition of SSL, it's perfect as it stands.. I hope his security is better than bitcoinica.. My only "wishlist" would be a form of some sort to request a withdrawl, save the email.

From the outside, the "outage" issue looks like a routing one.. I can't get more than 1 hop into "national-net.com" trying to reach anything in the /20 (69.50.128.0/20) his site is hosted in.

Quit looking for calculators. They are useless. If BFL even delivers what they claim (doubtful), the difficulty is going to shoot up so fast that it doesn't matter.
There is literally no way to accurately calculate what you will earn from those chips unless you have inside information to the actual specs (which won't be what was in the "press release"), the actual amount ordered, and the amounts being shipped each day/week/month.
It will be like setting off a nuclear bomb on bitcoin... think back to when GPU mining hit... it could be 10x worse than that.. or 5x. Either way, assuming they ship, GPU mining is dead somewhere between 10-30 days afterwards, perhaps sooner.
