Think of it this way too, there was a time SLR wasn't on any exchange, it had an effective value of zero but we still mined it. It's still very young and the real meat of the technology isn't even implemented yet, it's all still in the test phase. Why would you give up on something in the beta phase after a few hiccups?
Because when the coin was not on any exchange all the holders dreamed of hundred of $ for a coin but when it hit the exchanges , time passed people started to wake up. Reality is harsh sometimes. what about when bitcoin was on a exchange and was .01 cent? and litecoins was .01 cent? how did that work out?

I have quite a few already and am represented in the genesis pool. As solarcoins circulation base grows 5% of the genesis pool becomes spendible. My large holdings and closeness to the project put me at risk of inside information, so I am not accumulating SLR at this point. I am growing the value of the economy and economic utility by working with the foundation to grow the holding base and build out soft (legal etc.) infrastructure and outreach to Sr. members of finance and renewable energy community. My intention is to hold SolarCoins for years to come and work on growing the economy of recipients, holders and acceptors of SLR. My personal goal is to make the utility functional value (spending/transactions) of Solarcoin vastly greater than the speculative (collectible) value. I view solarcoin right now like BTC 4 years ago. It reminds me of the BTC 10,000 pizza. You wanted to be the guy selling the pizza and getting the BTC, not the other way around. Posted from Bitcointa.lk - #UlYcV2iDFD7eUFNm
Thanks for the info!

Are you still accumulating Solarcoins?

I buy 54,000 on the ask at allcrypt and someone sells 8 solarcoins at the bid cuts the price in half. Yes, someone out there has been actively trying to keep the price low. Why? Who knows. Let the market decide for crying out loud. This kind of petty price manipulation is ridiculous but it happens all the time in low volume markets. Thankfully, most people are intelligent enough to see through it, like yourself. Looks like we might have finally stabilized around the 300-360 satoshi mark? Hard to tell yet. I'm looking forward to payday on Thursday. Yup also just bought some on bittrex also smooth transaction there and then someone sells around 100 solarcoins to lower the price.

If solarcoin went to a few bucks everybody would start claiming solar grants via solarpanels i bet we even would hit the big news chanels.
We need to concentrate on the value of the coin going up. And the grants will pour in.
pos or lower block reward both would work

I don't know all this hurry for changing algorytm or turn into pos.
Guys, you are mining and holding a crypto where dev says that it could reach 20$ each within 40 years!!! I tell you again, 40 years!!!
So, mine it for 40 years without stop, buy and investing thousand and thousand of dollar if you really believe in solarcoin.
Seems that everyone if afraid about price, and why it doesn't rise. So, change in x11,x13,x22,sha356,pos,scrypt n, etc etc etc. Why? Leave solarcoin be mineable for everyone instead of changing every 3 months the algorytm. Price don't follow this.
Or if you don't believe anymore in solarcoin, sell all and mine other cryptos. Leave solarcoin rise over 40 years.
Does it make sense to have my 7950's running 24/7 wasting electricity with pow? There's no guarantee this will even happen so I wouldn't make any rash judgments right now if I were you. If my miner was still functional, I'd still be mining. And like I said in a previous post, I am doing pretty well mining through NiceHash contracts when I have the funds available to buy them. I am still mining just at night to avoid the heat

Here is the link to the most recent iteration of the PoS Model Eric & I have been working on based on comments from people here as well as our own ideas: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jG0vxthcEprYlx7X-O6DxFHggrFMHJbAhTfu7T_c9lo/edit?usp=sharingI've made the access public but only comments are allowed for now, I just thought you all might like to take a peek at what we're looking at with this. Keep in mind, this should NOT be considered as clear cut proof that we intend to do this. We need coding expertise from the community to implement it if we decide to go ahead. That's why the switch is not modeled to take place until the third quarter of this year, to give us time to decide if this is how we want to proceed and to find someone out there with the coding expertise who would be willing to help us. The main benefit would obviously be an initial boost to the price which in turn could ramp up claims from generators. Overall the impact on the original design and model of SolarCoin should remain roughly the same as it is with the current PoW algorithm. This just shifts initial demand more to the front end but has minimal impact on supply over the 40 year time horizon. Please, please, please share your thoughts, comments, concerns in a constructive manner. Let's see where this goes. Bravo!

Hi everyone,
Since PoS is a topic of interest around here, I want to let you all know that the SolarCoin Foundation Board has been having some in-depth conversations about ideas for possible PoS implementation or other ways to reduce the inflation rate. At this point, we're still just discussing various options and nothing has been decided yet. We're serious about improving the technical and economics aspects of this currency.
In that vein, I'd like to hear some thoughts from the community about a few ideas. If you had to pick between the following choices, which would you prefer?
A. Switch to PoS with a high staking interest rate (10%+ per year) B. Switch to PoS with a lower staking interest rate (somewhere from 1% to 10% per year) C. Continue PoW but reduce mining reward so that fewer new coins would be created.
If you can explain the reasons for your answer, that would be even more helpful. Thanks!
This is not an official survey, just one Board member who is curious to hear people's opinions.
I would choose option B with around 3.5% interest rate a year. that changes every year per the board. Also the block reward would need to drop from 100 to around 1 to 5 coins a minute PoS would also help the housholds that get there solarcoins from solarpower most of these people do not mine coins as they would get 3.5% a year for holding on to there coins without having to mine them. This would also be better then gold or silver coins since they pay no interest This would add another selling point when a person from a solar install company tells a home buyer not only will you be able to claim solar coins but you get interest on the ones you claim as long as you hold them.

Bitcoin Trader is proudly sponsoring the Bitcoin Conference Chicago, taking place on the 19th and 20th of July. After Bitcoin2014 and the CEBEX, this is the third major bitcoin event Bitcoin Trader is sponsoring. It is important to support bitcoin events, to spread the word and to help to bring bitcoin into the mainstream. http://btcchicago.com/Judging from the response I got when I asked, they realize it's a ponzi but they just don't care. Only Time will tell

To add coins from a paper wallet to a encrypted wallet i believe you just have to unlock the wallet in the debug menu for a few minutes then you can import the paper wallet.
