Development Roadmap V1 - Released

Could use an editor, but overall I like it!

The only thing I don't like so much is this for Verium (besides the fact it should be "than VeriCoin"):

Quote
At least 10x more costly to send then VeriCoin

Is there a game-theory/economic reason that this 10x fee must be the case? What would happen if we let the market decide the relative cost to send VRM vs. VRC? I'd like it if at least in the wallet we can set the fee to what we want. I've seen people before say that the fee drops for small VRM payments, but I'm waiting to hear someone try, because in my windows wallet the fee  appears to remain 0.2 VRM for any payment.

For most transactions the fee will be 0.2 VRM because it's a per kilobyte fee structure. The reasons for fee structure are as follows, and possible because of the Dual Blockchain system where Verium does not need to be a great currency.

-Inflation can get very low, very fast, because after a couple years with increased user growth, mining can be almost entirely fee based rewards. So no need to continue to inflate for decades to pay for security.

-As the reward drops more over time, pool mining becomes less and less practical because a greater fraction of your earnings will be lost in a pool withdrawal transaction fee. Additionally you will have to wait longer to perform a withdrawal when your earnings are significantly over fee. This may make most miners prefer solomining because the profit margins will be considerably better.

So in short this fee structure should help to increase value and decentralization to new levels.

I was thinking about the dual blockchain.. will the verium proof of work record any verification of vericoin blocks in its blockchain? Or maybe there could be some kind of superblock the dual wallet creates occasionaly. Given the history of vericoin with the fork it would be especially cool if something like that could be done. Sort of acknowledging the disagreements that happened over that issue.. and saying we're finally putting that in the past with this extra layer of immutability.

Yes Verium miners will pass some VeriCoin blocks. As the hashrate increases Verium miners will pass more VeriCoin blocks. Increasing decentralization, immutability, transaction speed and scalability.

Well..just like birty555 I've finished to set up my cpu rig for VeriumReserve Smiley
Tooks about 2 days flashing all my custom images and setting up the whole thing! Here are some pictures!

Rack of 24 xu4 --> half mounted

Hashrate: 4700 H/m
Power Consumption: 230 Watts

12 Odroid XU4 - 8 cores each (96 cores total) as miners
1 OrangePi Zero to share wifi connection via ethernet plug

As you can see it's already ready to host the other 12 boards Smiley

Wow man awesome!

Have finally finished the article on how to build a big VRM miner from single board computers - its now in three parts:
part 1 - comparison of options and profitability - https://goo.gl/Ntmcbw
part 2 - building the miner - https://goo.gl/XLdQgn
part 2b - finishing the miner build and tuning - https://goo.gl/Dm6TXs

Looks like this (albeit more dusty now!) and is at about 66% ROI after just shy of 7 months (at today's prices)

Happy reading!

This. Great analysis, design and breakdown birty!

Is the new verium miner planned for a network fork?

Will you be able to mine in the wallet +workers, mine +workers configuration?

@effectsToCause What about the promotional campaign?  Tongue

No fork, no protocol changes needed. It's an assembly level miner optimization (complete overhaul) for the in wallet solominer, so that the wallet is equal to stand alone veriumMiner. No pool mining support in wallet because more solomining is much better for the network. Also a few other tweaks to wallet. Promotional campaign making progress.

were it says blocks remaining , thats increasing is that correct just looks funny they should be decreasing shouldnt they ??

I got 13 connections so it seems to be right

Try reload blockchain under file menu...Please let me know if that works.

it says in the little box 194% complete and the blocks remaining is increasing so its just got me confused and re-downloaded the blockchain
actually i noticed its - downloaded increasing so im more confused and also were it says downloaded 66325 of 34591 ??

i do have 17 connections at the moment

Yeah you are good that is a display bug because your wallet hasn't seen the last block yet. It will resolve itself

I just DL'd the VRM Wallet, no blocks load, no progress. So I went to file>Reloacd Blockchain, followed the process.. the wallet restarted...and now it does nothing at all. It hgas been in 'waiting for a network connection' for 25 minutes now. Any help / Ideas? Thanks.

No wonder its crashy. It was crafted by bittrex tyron, check his twitter account: https://twitter.com/bittrext?lang=en. That guy lives in brooklin and has a brain of size of a squirrel. Would anybody expect any fix any time soon knowing that bittrex tyron is cooking a pragmatic solution to verium's block time instability. Move that wallet to trashcan and never download anything compiled by tyron.

lol I developed the Verium wallet and I am not bittrex tyron  Roll Eyes

No dice. Tried that, and removing the block index and .zip from the app data folder too to do a manual reload. Nothing. Just parked in 'waiting for a network connection'

Supernode went down for maintenance, let me know if you get your first connection now. After you get on the network your wallet will save other nodes too.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] VeriCoin Proof of Stake-Time Currency | Marketing campaign on: April 05, 2017, 05:50:09 PM
Update on network:

Supernet wallet caused a fork because it had poor connectivity with the network when it started staking alot of coins.  If you have less than 5 connections you are probably not on the mainchain.  It's still going strong and the supernode is on it, but others are not.
I just updated the bootstrap to it, so you can do file->reload blockchain
but I think many are trying to download it and we are getting an overload on the server.
Other thing you can do is in vericoin.conf remove all other node lines and just put connect=supernode.vericoin.info
this should tether you to only the supernode and you should sync up to the longest chain

What's the max supply of VRM?
Or does it not have a max supply, is it just proportional to VeriCoin as 1 - 10?

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/vrm/

Outstanding 1,001,489 VRM

Very, very, veri low supply for a digital asset Cool

Also network hash has been steadily increasing, up 30%
That's the current supply, but at the end of mining, what will be the Max Supply?

We produced about 400k coins in the first six months, as mining power grows the reward drops more than the block time speeds up. So the more mining the less rewards per unit time net. So this is disinflationary (shrinking inflation) like bitcoin is but a power determined schedule. Once the Verium supply reaches around 3million, 10x lower supply   (roughly 2 years from now), it switches to the same reward scheme but much slower disinflation to around 3% per year like VeriCoin. At this time mining will largely be paid for by the fee structure with the reward being a supplement most likely. If you want to or are thinking about mining Verium, now is likely better as we get progressively more miners and definitely better than when it switches to ~3%.

I find it so awesome and novel that people are using single board computers to mine Verium optimally, nice work guys. That didn't occur to me when we developed it. It's also very cool that mining optimally is also still competitive cost-wise with a regular computer.  In this context and with how efficient Verium mining on single boards actually is, I think a mobile app for mining on iOS or android would work well and not drain the battery too much, or get too hot. Conversely one could mine while charging their phone and make some money on their phone.  Could be a very cool app. We are working on a new in house BIP32 HD spv wallet for VeriCoin and Verium and I would love to add mining to the Verium app. This is one of the reasons I've been spending quite a bit of time making the most efficient and smartest in wallet mining software possible for Verium.  If any app developers are interested in helping us with the Verium mining mobile app there would be VRM bounties.

I ask as every month where is the promised marketing campaign?

I ACCEPT VERICOIN FOR LEGAL ADVICE AND SERVICES. HERE IS WHY:

I have tried several staking wallets and this one is hands down the most consistent. It is also the most transparent and seemingly efficient. I love all of the information that is displayed and the quick transactions. The Dev's knew what they were doing. The market for this coin is steady as well. Moving forward to the next level is always a challenge but I think VRC has a good chance. For those reasons I'm accepting VRC in payment for legal advice and services.

George D. Greenberg, Esq.

That's cool...how much have you been paid in Bitcoin since you started accepting it?

I just posted 2 days ago that I would accept VRC. I have not had any takers as of yet. Why do you ask? As to my general practice in BTC Law I am paid from time to time in BTC from client's. The amounts are of course confidential. I am a real attorney and have been involved in BTC and Cryptos for 3 years. I have been a practicing attorney for 25 years.  You can certainly look at my web page. Call me, email me, PM me. George D. Greenberg, Esq. www.atttorneybitcoin.com 7674 W. Lake Mead Blvd #245 Las Vegas, Nevada 89128.

you should start checking the devs college debs...... and de the verium fiasco!!!! maybe we can sue them.... also contact fbi on the mather they are into it....

lol I wish I had no college debt.

Verium new miner doing well in testing so far about 2x faster than 1.0.4. Next VeriCoin update increases cpu efficiency by ~60%. less-overhead.
