281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Ixcoin - a new Bitcoin fork on: August 11, 2011, 03:21:27 AM
Here's what I did:

Use this guide -> http://www.newslobster.com/random/how-to-get-started-using-your-gpu-to-mine-for-bitcoins-on-windows

When it asks for the bitcoin.exe simply rename the ixcoin.exe to "bitcoin.exe" and just follow the instructions.

It will start mine, but I actually have no idea if I will receive any coins this  way xD

Thanks.  So you're saying I should rename ixcoin.exe to bitcoin.exe in \Program Files (x86)\Ixcoin (or wherever the ixcoin.exe is located)?  I tried that and specified that location when GUIminer->Solo Utilities->Set Bitcoin client path.  I then do Solo Utilities->Launch Bitcoin client as server and then attempt to start my solo profile (localhost, username/password, 8337 or 8338 -- can't seem to get either to work), and the console just sits there at:

2011-08-10 20:09:29: Listener for "IxcoinPHX": [10/08/2011 20:09:29] Phoenix 1.50 starting...

Did you remember the "ixcoin.conf" file?

Code:
rpcuser="USERNAME"
rpcpassword="PASSWORD"
rpcallowip=*

And the file extension should be ".conf".

edit:

After setting the "Bitcoin" client path, you also have to click "create solo password". Use the same username and pass as you did in the ixcoin.conf file.

I'm still waiting for an answer to the question...

WHY?HuhHuh??
Imitation is the highest form of flattery however
this is a naked attempt at usurpation.

For the lulz?

Ixcoin also help me understand better how Bitcoin started, I guess Smiley)
283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Ixcoin - a new Bitcoin fork on: August 11, 2011, 02:53:19 AM
I can't get it to work.  I'm using GUIminer and simply copied over my bitcoin.conf file then renamed it to ixcoin.conf, which contains:

rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=password
server=1
rpcport=8338

But when I start the solo miner in GUIminer I see this in the console:

2011-08-10 19:46:47: Listener for "IxcoinPHX" started
2011-08-10 19:46:49: Listener for "IxcoinPHX": [10/08/2011 19:46:49] Phoenix 1.50 starting...

I've tried 8337 as well in both the .conf file and in GUIminer.  What gives? Sad

Edit:

Yep, it works!

Well... I still got 0 credits, but at least it's showing something Smiley

Am I supposed to run the ixcoind.exe file when mining and the ixcoin.exe file when I want to see my holdings?

Cause' I mine, but I see nothing.
285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Ixcoin - a new Bitcoin fork on: August 11, 2011, 02:14:22 AM
I can't make it work properly.

Sure it starts mining, but I can't open the Ixcoin client, so how do I receive the coins? lol

I fail... :/

Investing in a single GPU just too start mining is not worth it imho.

Really? Which country exactly is this where explicit sexual images involving children are acceptable?

What a daft, daft thing to say.

Not sure about "daft", my examples seem to have been a few years old though. The age where people performing in sexual pictures/movies are considered to be children is [was] however different between jurisdictions.

UK: 16
DK: 15
Netherlands: 16

But these seem to have been raised to 18 recently in all three. The point about different jurisdictions still stands though, you have to remember that morals depend on culture. Someone from a completely different cultural background to yourself won't respond to what you consider "common sense" since the definition of what "common sense" is would be different.

This however doesn't involve anything related sex. The only thing the law made possible was for under-aged models to be "under-dressed" at shootings.

Something along those lines. It really has nothing about CP and whatever people are saying.
289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TradeHill - Now accepting EUR deposits - EUR market is live! on: August 09, 2011, 12:53:56 PM
I made a deposit on 21th July via SEPA transfer and still waiting for the funds at TH. Since that day I can only see in the TH dashboard that it is in pending status.

I have sent 3 or 4 mails to TH support since then and the only thing they can say to me is to wait. At this point I am really worried for my money.

Anybody here has the same problem ?

Maybe you havent heard that the sepa account is frozen!?

Yes I have, but it is not my fault, and my money is not available for 20 days (at least), what I consider it is too much.

What I wanted to know is if I was the only one in this situation ore if there are more people with the same problem.

I'm in the same situation.

Jered asked if I preferred getting my money send via Paypal or something similar, but never heard from him after that.

But it's all because of the frozen account and the time it takes for their money to reach the bank accounts.

291  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: which of these 2 pools should I choose? on: August 08, 2011, 04:09:13 PM
So I'm considering running my gaming pc with 2x 5850 as mining while not gaming.

I usually play games 5-16h/week, so some weeks only 5h while other weeks 16h.

I want to mine when not gaming but when gaming have mining off, as I need most of the 5850 to fullest(big demand on the cards with eyefinity gaming).

Ive looked at 2 popular and good(?) pools: Arsbitcoin and BTC Guild.

Ars is SMPPS while Guild is prop, which one if a want to have mining off for 5-16h?

I use http://www.bitcoins.lc/ at it works like a charm Smiley

No offend meant to anyone, but you gotta be pretty stupid if you buy this card at 850$ or even 800$...

If I bought it I would save 38$ lol

And that's just the price.
293  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Real names on: August 07, 2011, 09:06:56 PM
I certain do have something to hide, but only to avoid identity theft and stalkers.  I don't post a home address, private phone number, or other private information here or anywhere.  I would strongly recommend the same precautions, especially to other women.   While there are no more dishonest or dangerous people on the Internet than in the world in general, when you post on a public forum you are exposed to a much larger number of people.  The odds almost guarantee that some of them are not people you would want following you home.

However, I post in forums using a nickname or handle simply because that is how it has always been done in the years I've been active on the Internet, which is roughly since it began.  Anybody who looks on my web site (http://www.ergosphere.net) can find my full real name, contact email address, and even my resume.   There is nothing about my interest in Bitcoin that I am trying to keep quiet. I think it's a fascinating and likely quite useful new technology.  I want to know more about it and possibly contribute to its success, not as a playground for currency speculators, but as a viable currency.

There's a huge difference from posting your name to posting your entire address... Just saying ^^

Been waiting for a Paxum withdrawal for 2 days now, when it says it only takes up to 24 hours...

Same thing here.  Been waiting 3 days, and no response yet from support to my e-mails.

Here we go again. Sheesh!

I'm sure they'll figure it out, and it doesn't really bother me that much, but I just wish there was better communication if they know that deposits/withdrawls are going to be delayed.

That's just what 'm looking for.

Let me know if there's delays or warn me before hand.

The money is just locked now from being used...

It's a waste of time and effort mining 28 Mhash/s.
299  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tradehill to Paxum delay on: August 05, 2011, 12:07:52 PM
I'm also waiting for Tradehill to transfer my money too Paxum. It says 24 hours, but that's seriously a load of crap.

I'm only using Tradehill and Bitcoin7 so I can eventually get verified on bitmarket.eu, cause' every other exchange sucks...

Why not use something like MoneyBookers?

PayPal and other such services are far too high-risk.

Really? I know PayPal is risky, but I thought MoneyBookers didn't do chargebacks when we are talking simple "sending money to another MoneyBookers account"?

Guess I was wrong :/

edit: Why couldn't Tradehill give the possibility of withdrawing money to moneybookers? Unless Tradehill would demand a chargeback? But then they would be seen as fraudulent?
