202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Didn't Satoshi Think About Instant Transactions? on: June 23, 2015, 10:20:35 PM
I read somewhere(cant remember now) that Crypto 2.0 has instant transactions like stellar, ripple that's why bitcoin should be updated to 2.0

Stellar had a flawed consensus protocol that led to a fork. It was temporarily resolved by running the whole Stellar network on a single verifying node, which is not decentralized. Stellar and Ripple have not been tested as long as Bitcoin and can only prove they are as reliable by running for years without problems.

203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Qora | 100% POS | Assets | Names | Voting | Automated Transactions on: June 23, 2015, 08:47:05 PM
today me return back my Qora to balance, after pending status almost half month(after lot support ticked)
or as happened to other? or only me...
just do not know what to do... request again or exchange to other coin.
My experiences are, when you see the exchange addresses forging they are able to send qora. Look at the  blockchain!!!
Bter has the address: QXNz5kBknsgNYtRKit4jCDNVm7YYoXLZdB
polo: QPVknSmwDryB98Hh8xB7E6U75dGFYwNkJ4

This moment I see only Bter forging...

Why is it necessary for them to be forging to send and receive coins?

You can disable staking in normal POS alt coins and still send and receive coins. All you have to do is type setgenerate=false in the debug console.

Could the Qora wallet be updated to allow sending and receiving coins with forging disabled if it's not already capable of doing that?
204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: StartCoin to become largest altcoin within 24 months (Karl Gray - Mega whale) on: June 23, 2015, 08:27:37 PM
First startcoin ATM to be demonstrated at hoxton event:

https://www.startjoin.com/jamiescottuk

Have they got anyone lined up to start operating a service using one? Merely having an ATM for a coin is not going to increase its value unless businesses are prepared to operate them. Franko coin has an ATM but I don't think any businesses provide any services using it, and its done nothing to increase Franko coin's value.

Why was it necessity to use Slack for the dev-teams with all these opportunities then?

I'm not making a big deal out of this, it was just a simple suggestion and wont comment on it further.  One could even argue that their are too many channels of communication. Smiley

As you say the dev-team is a team and Slack is for team communication. Every way of communications has pros and cons.

Sorry, but I just must make a comment to that Wink

So you know the pros and cons without trying...? Just close the channel it if it doesn't work. The world develops by trial and error, you know.

I have never tried slack, but t sounds like it suits large groups of people who regularly communicate, a bit like IRC. Burst has a large user base, but most of them don't regularly communicate, they occasionally want to discuss something either here, or using the other existing communication channels.

The communication channels mostly suit that type of occasional communication, apart from the IRC. I don't really think slack suits the type of communication used by the user base here.
206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any possibility to hit the Litecoin price @ $600 ? on: June 12, 2015, 06:16:57 PM
With inflation sure it's possible...  come the (inevitable) day when $600 doesn't leave much change after you've bought loaf of bread.

That's a point I hadn't considered. In fifty years time a good weeks wages by today's standards will only buy you half a pack of cigarettes. Before I read your comment I automatically dismissed the possibility of Litecoin reaching $600, but now I think it's possible if it's still around in fifty years.

However the OP probably wants to know if it can reach $600 in the next few years, which I doubt.
207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Open Source CCE 4.0 Block Explorer on: June 12, 2015, 06:06:42 PM
That's a nice piece of work.

I like the top 100 rich list and the list of peers. I have read countless requests for nodes in the altcoin threads here.

All the main features I would want from a block explorer are there, like searches for balances in addresses, and searches for transactions. If I ever set one up I will use your latest block explorer.
208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: jl777 is Satoshi Nakamoto on: June 05, 2015, 07:03:38 PM
Satoshi wasn't about building his wealth selling promises.  Also, James isn't a core dev of Nxt, he was originally a Ripple enthusiast before he found Nxt, which was long after BCNext launched it.  Personally I like James, but the OP is stupid.

I don't think Satoshi would sell assets, or work on an alt coin when he could improve bitcoin. His style was to create something without trying to sell it.
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CRY launch announcement!!! on: May 17, 2015, 07:11:10 PM
Please post here at least once a week dev.
210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CRYcoin launch announcement!!! on: May 02, 2015, 12:09:09 AM
[WTS] 297.13160795 CRY coins in mint condition, never used, kept in a safe environment under c-cex care. PM with offers.

I vote for a takeover.  This has gone on long enough.  It's time to put up or shut up.
There is no need for a takeover.
I am still here.

Look - I get people have lives outside of crypto.  I get that things happen and people need time.  But this is crypto.  You don't start a coin and then leave for 3 weeks without saying a word.  The only time you come here and type is when we threaten a community takeover.  Quite honestly, it's bullshit.

I'm sorry to be so blunt, but I (and a lot of other people) am BEGGING for SOMETHING.  ANYTHING.  All we're asking for is a roadmap.  Do you need help?  Do you need resources?  What do you need to get your plans completed?

Regular posts once a week would be better than nothing.
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CRYcoin launch announcement!!! on: April 05, 2015, 12:12:33 AM

Do you have a twitter account created yet?

I can setup an irc over the weekend, but I'm feeling pretty useless today.
I could set those up tomorrow when i wake up
 Smiley

Getting on another exchange might be in the roadmap. The more the merrier.

Well Apple's trying to get into the action, and IBM won't want to be left behind.
214  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HUC] Huntercoin -Serverless MMO and Crypto - Bringing Crypto to the Masses on: February 27, 2015, 10:14:18 PM
Seems like a good time to download and attempt a resync of my old wallet. You guys are doing great work here, admirable motivation.

thank you for those kind words.

If it's been a long time since you synced - it might be quicker downloading the chain from

http://chain.huntercoin.org

p.s. there is not much point playing/harvesting until the next disaster (high risk)

There are currently 647 Hunters on the map ( http://www.huntercoin.org/unitymap.html ), all valued at 10 HUCs each. If you create a new Hunter now it will cost you 200 HUCs.. not worth the risk.

The next Disaster could be any time within the next 8 days.

Thanks for the link. We don't need any new nodes to sync do we?
215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar on: February 08, 2015, 05:36:09 PM
Stellar will serve as a useful warning to anyone else who thinks they know how to do crypto better than Ripple.

I feel sorry, not for Stellar, but for the folks who lost their money.

People who lost their money!? It is up 70% from where I bought in before. They also have tons of good devs on the team. Btc giveaway has been delayed until they update their protocol. After this the giveaway will start. In my opinion this is a great time to get in before the big announcement.

It takes more than just "good devs" to get mainstream adoption.

Compared to other organisations, Stellar is dwarfed (money, people, connections).

Stellar tried to apply the stripe.com "formula" to Ripple's codebase. It isn't working. And I cannot see what strategy the management team have to do anything about it.

If they do the giveaway I think people will dump and crash the price.

217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crytpo and Torrent Projects on: January 23, 2015, 11:42:05 AM
MaidSafe uses the same type of distributed hash table as Bittorrent (Kademlia). Although it isn't the same protocol, it has roughly the same principals. The SAFE network is going to feature SafeCoin rewards for fast seeders, and for popularity of public files. If an artist uploads his or her content first, they'll earn SafeCoin (from the unissued pool) the more popular that content is. So the public gets free content and content producers get paid if they are popular.

How long will it be before SafeCoin is released?
218  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Gox to be blamed? on: January 08, 2015, 05:16:46 PM
Last year when MtGox apparently got "hacked" we saw bitcoin coming down to $100(for a few minutes) from $1200.
Since then bitcoin has been constantly going down 👇.
If gox thing didn't happen do you think that bitcoin still would have been at around $1000?
So is gox to be blamed for this downfall?

Bitcoin has hit peak prices and crashed down again too often to blame Gox. It would have happened anyway.
219  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin's worst year on: January 08, 2015, 05:14:11 PM
This will probably be the year BTC becomes the thing of nerds..  Alas I fully expect sub $100

sub 100% is very tough to achieve, to much resistance when you go below 200 already

+1

There are too many buyers above 200 for it to go below 100.

GeoCoin is implementing a similar idea to yours.
