No this is incorrect. Maternodes perform the coin mixing for DarkSend. The payments are a bonus and incentive to run a masternode If you are not going to be getting paid to do it (as it costs money to run one) why on earth would you run one and put your DRK at risk... I am going to make this statement one time, and one time only with no responses to any follow-up comments. Having worked for a major IT consulting/software development company in the Federal sector for over 15 years, and having in addition contributed to interview and hiring decision making processes, I can confidently say that "that other coin's" developer's resume does not have the necessary background to support cryptocurrency development. In other words, "that other developer" does not have the programming skill set, academic or professional, to develop a cryptocurrency. He may be a developer having worked on/completed multiple engagements over an extended period of time. But he is not a cryptocurrency developer. Now you go and make whatever conclusions you wish to make from this.
But does it matter if he gets help from someone who develops cryptos? LOL Sorry if I'm dumb, but would you mind explaining what you are implying? atcsecure claims to be a skilled coder yet he needs to hire loljosh to dev his coin. He's a phony. thank you very much for the help over skype, it seems that the hacker could enter my vps, don't know how exactly but he did he will post on darkcointalk some advice and tips to not have the same issue as me if someone can help me in any way please send some tip on my darkcoin wallet XhGwaKJPMdqEyMU85QBReNNMzVGKDW2EPz So here was the issue(s). It appears there is someone that is pulling all the masternodes from the wallet and running scripts on them to hack in. And in this case they was able to gain access via SSH, so it had nothing to do with problems in the wallet/daemon/masternode itself. - The firewall was not running, so all ports were open
- Root access via SSH was allowed
- OpenSSL v1.0.1f was installed on the server
- The password to unlock the wallet was still in bash history command
- The root password was less than 8 characters
My recommendations: - DO NOT allow root ssh access
- Only open port 9999 in your firewall to the world
- Only open port 22 (SSH) to a trusted ip
- Setup SSH to use certificates for logging in
- Do not run any application on the server that you dont have to
- Encrypt you wallet
- Clear your bash history
There are more, but this would have secured this server. If any of you can spare a few darkcoins to help this person, he lost 999DRK because of the above issues. his wallet address is XhGwaKJPMdqEyMU85QBReNNMzVGKDW2EPz He learned the HARDWAY how not to setup your masternode. I will be putting together a list of things to check and an ISO and AMI for people to use with MOST of the issue addressed, you will still be responsible for checking any think I missed and verify it works for your setup. His lose WILL help everyone else by showing what you MUST setup so please help him where you can. I will pull some together myself to send. Jesus christ, I dont know much but I know to do all of that stuff, its even in the guide. How are people so careless with their money. Poor guy but man $10,000, you should have researched the shit out of what you needed to do. |

If what is really needed is more masternodes then work out a way to have a cold wallet work and it will probably double.
Having said that, I'll still run my masternode as it is as I feel secure enough to do so.

That may be troll objective... His statements don't add up... But if you left your DRKs hanging int he breeze, I guess that's all it would take to spook you, or me... Which is why I don't leave my DRKs hanging in the breeze... Im just a paranoid person. Wonder if he had linked his bash to /dev/null or at least cleared history He should've just closed port 22 and the other ports altogether. Also, the fact that they knew his wallet passphrase indicates inside job. It is not possible to crack a 15 string encryption password. Yeah you's are right it'll most likely turn out to be fear mongering or a dumb mishap. |
