I know these guys. Smiley They are all about java as well. I am only a bootstrap guy...  They would be brought on for projects voted on by the community and help qora. I have sent a query to qora to see what his opinion is.
Since we are a community, I wanted to put that on the vote list as well. Time is Qora. Build it now and they will come. Smiley
I will even pay them out of my own qora and USD...

Regards,

I Added a Vote Poll:

Name:         hire additional developers to help qora
Description: Hire ex-skype developers to help qora build features.
Creator:       Qe18nxreBcJQnhDHNjGuW7kUHCAubFg5wo
Options:       Yes or No

*** Please make sure the creator of the poll is correct.
This is an experiment.
Exchanges please do not vote.

Does this even need a vote? I would guess >99% of qora holders would vote an emphatic yes! We'll see...

Asic - could you please talk more about this vote/opportunity? Is this vote an exercise or do you know these guys?

Has Qora agreed? If true, would this move push features towards a "decentralized skype platform" or would they be brought on for projects voted on by the community and set qora features? Please do tell more...

This is great news...We have development funds that the community has contributed. Great that you put this up for vote. Really showing the power of the vote in building community consensus. Dzarmush is holding the dev funds so look forward to the community's response. And good news that the devs would be cooperative and not simply implement skype on Qora (which actually would be cool but let's see)!!!

Qora is rumbling louder each day!

I really like NHZ. Great coin.  Grin Cool
424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: June 27, 2014, 07:00:33 AM
So after some careful and serious thought, I think I will either vote for arbitrary transaction or wallet upgrade as the first feature to be implemented.

Great assessment calvinstm. I agree with your thinking and could not have written it better. Grin

On a side note, stabilizing the syncing of first time opened wallets is critical, especially for new users. Every day it seems, someone is saying that their wallet is not syncing and we have to explain yet again delete data and wallet and restart! This may be a peer issue but must be considered to strengthen qora overall. How do we fix this issue Qora?

BTW - the voting system is really pulling the community together for meaningful discussions so far...great direction.

Just caught up on the chat logs...they are gold mines...I like what I see. Qora now heading in the right direction.

If you haven't read these logs, definitely a worthwhile read. More activity than this thread.  Cool

And another bounty added. Come on, there have to be some skilled people out there who can help us working on that ever growing list

Is anybody already working on this? If not I would give it a try over the weekend

Anything you can do, go for it! I'd really like to see a mac client available.  Cool

The API changes which will be included in V10 can be found here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1rqBS8-w090DbDa9ptNg0xvlRjafKEuZzx71aTFSeoUU/edit
Everyone who has ideas for the vote can post them here.
I will then create a document so everyone knows what they can vote for.
Don't know how possible this is, but I think it'd be super sweet to have an android wallet.
I'm probably stupid.

Great idea and no, stupidity is not having an idea like that...can you code? If so, go for it, if not, start learning and run with your idea...Qora will be needing all coders on deck this year for second party apps...ie, android wallet.

what are the new features that are planning on being released next? I want to buy some more Qora but interested in the short term plans.

See the OP - voting is now being implemented so we can vote on what feature we would like to see Qora implement next...unique in the cryptoworld. Respect to Qora for thinking this through from the beginning.

Version 10 is now available.

Awesome Qora....looking forward to your document about voting options!

Dzarmush is back in couple of days Grin

Yey!!

I don't want to force my opinion but we got to get the AE set up before all the other NXT clones pop up in the next few months.

I see how you got your name  Grin

Joking aside, the AE is important and we can decide about this by voting...but no need to rush this too much imo. Rushing AE implementation does not make the AE better...why not focus on improving AE features and creating a better AE than what's available, not just another AE product sooner? Just my opinion.  Cool

429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: June 24, 2014, 03:22:27 PM

What if we have the code audited by various trusted third parties, instead of having the code fully open sourced?...or may be opensource only parts of it...

That way, people can still gain the trust that its a totally new system and we can avoid copy paste clones.

Yes, this is what needs to be done. It would either kill Qora or provide a substantial foundation. The obstacles here are who is the trusted third party and would Qora even do this?
430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: June 24, 2014, 02:44:49 PM
@Qora - you asked for a NXT whitepaper but there is not one technically.

https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/nxt-papers-whitepapers-academic-and-economic/

It is not perfect, a formal whitepaper is in production on the forum now. Ask if you have any questions.

Thanks for the link...this is what we need to begin with Qora. Qora has the API document but not much in terms of math and overall theory behind qora...it's really not for Qora to write a whitepaper now imo...Qora is busy writing code (far better for development)...the product is what tells me Qora is a quality product. Yes a few bugs but it's high quality; bugs can be worked out.

A paper from a technical member of the Qora community who can interview Qora and write a "gray" paper is the best solution if the community sees this as critical.

I support some of the obfuscated code be released for review. Why is this a problem?

The API changes which will be included in V10 can be found here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1rqBS8-w090DbDa9ptNg0xvlRjafKEuZzx71aTFSeoUU/edit

Everyone who has ideas for the vote can post them here.
I will then create a document so everyone knows what they can vote for.

The voting platform is very important and as a community has great advantages to moving forward. Qora once mentioned that vote "weight" or number of votes will be equivalent to the voter's account balance of which he/she votes. Voting can be as simple as yes/no or have many options I suspect.

Some ideas to vote on based on the op:

1. Bounties: Vote on priorities for bounties and what exactly to develop next (outside of Qora's priority list)

2. Guaranteed Features - these are awesome features and qora has/will do well to implement these, maybe we can vote on the priority?

Ed25519 DSA to verify and sign messages. done!
1-5 minute block time depending on the network activity. done!
Retargeting every 10 blocks. done!
Password protected wallets that can be recovered/generated from seeds. done!
New Proof-of-Stake algorithm.done! BUT Vote on release of code for review
A JSON RPC API to directly communicate with the client.done!
Naming Service: done!
Voting System: Allows voting inside the client to make community decisions such as which feature will be implemented next. in progress - this week!
Colored Coins/Assets. not yet done
Arbitrary Transactions: a simple feature which allows users to send any payload they want over the network. done!
This can be used by third-parties to build additional features on top of Qora (data storage, chat). for community to do
Transaction Boosting: higher transaction processing speed by not having to broadcast the transactions to the whole network. not yet done

3. Possible Features - also a BIG category to vote on...which of these should the community suggest for qora to implement first. Qora will have to agree obviously no matter what the community votes.

Anonymous transactions/Zerocoin One of the biggest problems of Bitcoin is of course that every transaction is traceable.
Currently Zerocoin is the most promising project which is trying to solve that problem in a decentralized way.
Cross Blockchain trading
Finite Blockchain/Blockchain shrinking

4. Exchange - Vote which exchange to swarm next for adding qora. If established which exchange, we can be more effective.

5. Resources/Community - IMO it is very important is to vote whether the community agrees to have someone "review the code" at least in bits...Qora may not agree to this, and I think most of the community already want this, but if we vote that we believe strongly that this is good for qora, Qora can at least see our interests.

As far as I know, the Qora voting system will not be...one account, one vote or even...one seed, one vote. This is a severe limitation of digital voting...anyone can open as many accounts/seeds as they want and vote as many times as they want if this were the format. It seems that "weight", as Qora mentioned, is the best way to work around the multi-voting limitation but it's not the most ideal...this really favors original stakeholders who carry the majority of coins. None-the-less, weight is probably the best solution. It is better than say TAC where you "buy" votes and the fee goes to the genesis (although in a way, Qora vote is "bought" votes in effect).

Another aspect of voting is accountability to implement decisions made. Anyone can start a vote ..ie the best beer is a) Guinness b) Hoegaarden c) Budwiser...but the most important votes are what matter: what feature Qora will implement next, community development fund decisions, how to deal with other tasks in our development global plan, etc. These will be voted for and I think we will begin to see a "POS democracy" take effect.

As qora grows, we will certainly need a forum to deal with the up coming topics..."Qora Chat" is okay but I suggest for seamless adoption, we design a Qora reddit and/or a Simple Machines forum, similar to the many out there..like the one we are on now...or NHZ has a good one. http://forum.nhzcrypto.org/index.php I can work on this in 3 weeks as I am traveling soon but if someone can take this one now, the better...Dzarmush (where is he) do we have development funds for this?

TLDR:

1. Voting seems to favor original stakeholders.
2. Important voting may focus on optional Qora features and how to use development funds.
3. Will we keep pushing Qora for someone to "review the code" by voting and will Qora agree?
4. We will need an additional forum as Qora grows. I will do it in 3 weeks when I return from traveling if no one can do it soon.
5. Where is Dzarmush - what's status of dev funds?

@Qora - you asked for a NXT whitepaper but there is not one technically.

The following link surrounds speeding up transactions in POS coins....may be useful.

http://www.reddit.com/r/NXT/comments/28v8tw/due_to_its_rank_as_the_highest_pos_coin_in_market/

By the way, not promoting NXT here, just bring to light new advances and how we may be able to beat NXT to the post. (i.e. QORA catching up to other cryptos  Grin)

Of course Qora could of been lying and covering up.  Smiley

Reading the screenshot sounds like a nice cover up to me Wink
I don't care if qora is bcnext or not but qora for sure knows a lot more than his answers suggest.

In my opinion: BCnext = Come-from-Beyond (which also stopped posting on BTT @ April 23, 2014) = Qora

It’s hard to operate more than 1 BTT account for a long time. Gets confusing and you don’t want to fail and do a mistake like utopianfuture has done.

Definitely Qora knows more than leading on! Guess we will never really know for sure if Qora is BCNxt.  Cheesy

In other observations last week:

1. The community is coming together with a solid plan.
2. Price ebbs which is good for distribution. I'm not at all concerned about the price for now...it will increase as innovative features are launched.

Time to support Qora and stick to the plan. Qora asked for NXT whitepaper which there is not one...but interesting he would ask. Regarding code, I'm wondering if Qora would be willing to secure the Qora code somewhere (at least with one other developer, or pieces with different devs), in case something happens. Why not cover our basis now. Vrontis or Agran would be good candidates in my opinion.
433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: June 23, 2014, 09:25:54 AM
Anyone got any transcripts of the chat?
I would also really like to read the transcripts of the chat.
Now all the chat logs are stored. Later, I will do that all could read the chat history for all time.
http://coinia.net/qora/chat/

Im guessing the chat with qora was not recorded? How can we verify it was him and not someone registering as qora?  Wink

I saw some of it, I was surprised Qora distanced himself from NXT project, was confused but not critical of some of NXT dev descisions like using a less secure address system and highlighted some differences like NXT using http servers, which I assume he questions. Qora actually said he knows very little about NXT, his focus is clearly on Qora being great not copying another coins ideas. I think an earlier release date for the Whitepaper might be nessecary to show people this has no connection to NXT.

I personally blame Dzarmush for pushing the BCNext is Qora, as a NXT holder he might of had an agenda.

Qora chat log for the past few days: http://justpaste.it/fygc

not sure where you heard qora talking about nxt?!

A questioned was asked about some syncing issue...(I'm not aware of a syncing issue - my client is running great) but Qora mentioned that it probably has to do with disconnected peers. Qora is working on it.

Also - can anyone start a redit and/or an alternate forum to qora_chat and more similar to what people are used to such as Simple Machines template?

The site doesn't display properly on my android phone. I have to scroll to the right.

Vrontis and Qora know about this. Discussed in the chat yesterday. Vrontis is working on the tablet/phone fix for the website.

Edit: I have NFD blocks loaded on my DO server and now trying to tunnel ssh to access client locally. Anyone know the command to do this? I tried below combinations but getting "could not resolve"error".

I would like someone to become the owner of this document. Who will volunteer? Send me a PM please.

I have to continue with coding for the Local Web Wallet.

PM sent.

I am not a coder but would like to help with Qora development. As such, I would like to volunteer to keep track of the development plan document. This only means keeping the document up to date with the community's efforts and informing everyone either weekly or every fortnight depending on the rate of development. This would free up Asic-8tile to code.

Any objections of me taking on this role, speak up now.

Thanks,

B.

I haven't posted anything until now bcs I was exhausted from the darkcoin drama yesterday... but here i am.

Missed the drama and don't feel like diving into DRK thread. I noticed on poloniex that someone dumped hard. Can you sum up what happened?

In a nutshell, Darkcoin has been working on a protocol that runs above bitcoin through masternodes.
These masternodes accumulate that transactions and shuffle them so that an observer of the blockchain no longer knows who sent who and what amount.
It is already implemented and functioning. Yesterday, a new version was implemented via hard-fork. The new version was to provide Masternodes a payment for their service. Last time it caused many forks. Yesterday was supposed to be different bcs it was tested and modified.... but it failed again...
Still, the concept is cutting-edge and very innovative and will enable many added features.

Thanks for the summary...now back to TAC.
