81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo ICO - Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: September 08, 2016, 11:00:47 AM
So I still have not gotten a clear answer on this:

What is proposed to happen to the BTCD that has been swapped for Komodo?
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo ICO - Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: September 08, 2016, 10:59:17 AM
I know jl777 is a famous developer. But can someone summarize how many ICOs he launched and how many he delivered? I read somewhere that he likes to abandon projects.

I think a better way to put it is that JL takes on too many projects and 95% of the projects that he announces get indefinitely postponed or cancelled because another ground-breaking idea pops in his head. I think its a bit of ADD. edit - nothing personal intended only observational claim here Undecided

I am really curious what will happen when we finally get BATL on Bittrex...

Not moon

I have a lot of respect for James, he's brilliant, level headed and has some amazing ideas. He's done a lot of this on his own. Coding can be a very lonely existence...but again this is an investment that people are looking at based on past releases.

I think it was a bad move to start yet another ICO based on the current climate of scams, wasted ICO's and over promises. This is not James fault as it is what is currently a sea of scammy ICO's and failed promises.

With amount of money raised close to 6000 BTC just for the Supernet, I'm kinda disappointed that we still don't have a full release. Iguana is still months away from showing us anything working.

James I'm sorry, I wish you luck...I really do. But you won't be getting any Bitcoin from me this time, I will be waiting for my initial investments in you to see the light of day first.

Peace

You might have forgotten that the SuperNET funds were not spent, but rather are being invested to produce gains and operations funded from this. This necessarily slows things down a bit.

Also why do you say iguana is months away from showing anything working? Do you know something I dont?

Sorry James, I don't mean to offend. I know funds haven't been spent, funds are being used as asset holdings in various coins...I've been following your projects for years and I've become a bit disillusioned to say the least.

Thank you @MAD945 for putting my sentiments into words.
85  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo ICO - Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: September 02, 2016, 02:24:11 PM
The reason for all this is pretty simple the project needs to raise funds so James and his team can create the tech for all this and finance the dPoW algorithm. This is only possible with the freshly raise BTC.

But this dilutes the f*#k out of BTCD holders. Now we swap from a pool of 1.2 M total BTCD to 200 M Komodo....how is this good? BTCD holders need to have the same percent of komodo as they held BTCD...nothing less or we get f*#ked.

we are not really getting diluted, because the value of BTCD swapped for KMD increases proportionally with the dilution.

so if you end up with 1/5 of something that has 5* the value. as jl777 succinctly put it on slack: it is like exchanging ONE 5$ bill for FIVE 1$ bills.
or with 1/2 of something that has 2* the value.

and the revshare asset more than compensates for 10 weeks suspended price action.

Yea, I'm almost convinced...but not yet. I am trigger shy after losing a lot on nxt assets and previous failed icos. BTCD has been steady income with great stake profits and a good smaller lot of committed supporters..now it goes corporate.
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo ICO - Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: September 02, 2016, 02:20:02 PM
What happens to the BTCD after the swap?
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo ICO - Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: September 02, 2016, 01:44:14 PM
The thing is this also not build much trust... Year later you can do another "ico/cwap" as you need more money....

This is hard to argue against imo.
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo ICO - Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: September 02, 2016, 01:35:10 PM
Have been kicked out of the slack after holding this coin for 2 years b/c I stated this was a money grab and scammy behaviour. Well done James

Hmmm, this is not a good sign that you were dumped from slack channel. Any discussion should ensue to answer concerns....not cool.

edit...just read this...

Are you gambleh? I banned 2 people (gambleh, mig) for spreading fud (policy in supernet slack) but removed the ban now, hopefully now chat can continue in a civilized manner. We dont want bitcointalk behaviour at our slack.
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo ICO - Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: September 02, 2016, 01:29:04 PM
BTCD holders will benefit from Komodo. The revenue share that was promised won't go over to Komodo holders, but instead BTCD holders will get an asset.

Haha...lol when has any of James' assets every been profitable?

I really like the Komodo thing and I have absolute trust in James. Like many Supernet things it takes some time to wrap one's head around it and all the long term implications. I think most concerns depend on the fact that people were expecting the long awaited Btcd pump after first Iguana release, so they could sell a % at a good profit. I admit this had been my plan as well Grin

Now Iguana is still going to be released but no short term Btcd pump is to be expected since price is virtually capped at 0.0053. At least until Komodo release. It means waiting a bit longer for profits but with a lot of positive upsides:

1. Supernet/Komodo becomes even a bigger thing that it already is
2. Btcd holders get the cut of a much larger pie
3. More C coders hired can make more things and faster than James alone
4. More resources in general for development

If you think that Iguana is a valid project then the big picture doesn't change, it means instead of Btcd pump soon you'll get Komodo pump a few months later. And a lot more return in the longer term.

Dont forget the 3x 5% revenue share will not be diluted and will only be given to BTCD holders.

could you explain this....meaning BTCD-Komodo swap then get the revenue share?

the market cap will be bigger of course...with komodo 200 M coins compared to 1.2 million or so with BTCD! huge dilution if you ask me.

Cant get BTCD-QT to sync on Windows 10, new install. Peers listed in wallet log from downloaded file per the OP say IP addresses last seen over 10,000 hours ago! Is there an updated peer list or tips to sync the QT on Win 10?

Check if there is an active firewall blocking the peers.

Thanks for the info and to crackfoo as well. Got it synced on Win10!

I would like to see SN/iguana launch some sort of useable product before the Ardor window closes....ideally sooner rather than later as the snapshot is daily average.

Just loaded a new mac with BTCD-QT and cant get my wallet to sync. Tried the .conf and directions suggested here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=684090.msg11529219#msg11529219 Still not syncing. Anyone have an updated .conf file or suggestion about syncing?

are the balances off on the block explorers? They are showing a significantly less number of BTCD than my wallet!
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Qora | POS | Assets | Names | Polls | Automated Transactions | Social Network on: June 23, 2016, 04:21:04 PM
@crowetic  I generally like POS but don't have enough code and security knowledge to comment authoritatively on Pos as a whole. It would be interesting to hear everyone's thoughts.

------------------

I've seen something interesting on the charts: Look June 17 and 18 (on polo) and you'll notice an identical double doji bottom tweezer Isn't that just really interesting eh? Maybe some technical analyst can elaborate on the meaning of this (if it does have special significance which I believe it does).

Edit: lol I just had another look and there is actually a couple of these 'identical doji's' in the past month. haha  Cheesy just another one I guess.

The reason I ask, is that one of the talks we're having right now, involves putting a different algo into QORA. One that is totally innovative.

Main reasoning here, is that it seems the QORA network is not nearly as large as it should be, and this could totally revitalize it. That plus all of the other awesome features that exist.

I'll post again soon with an idea for my overall plan, once I've gotten it approved by the other key people. Thanks!

If you change the algo, why not just fork qora? Probably be better to build a stronger community from scratch compared to what exists here.

do you have a Polo ETA ?

@sasha35625: How would a company list themselves on Waves, and what would be the benefit of doing so?

sasha35625 [12:42 PM]
ETA is august

fiat gateways sooner

Having Waves only on one exchange (forgetting Yo-Bits) is prime for manipulating by whales. Good to get on Polo ASAP.

I don't know how to run on MAC, I have been running BTCD-QT occasionally on my ubuntu desktop,
and "version" : "v1.0.0.0-g32a928e" for almost a year now on a DigO ubuntu 14.04

This is a relatively old version but stable.

As for MAC, prly on the slack you will find some help:

http://slackinvite.supernet.org/

Thanks i8orre. Yea, I'll head over to the SN slack.

thank you @bitkokos2 ! (although I would have preferred an official statement and link coming from the dev team directly)

Can you give me some AddNode for the .conf? can't sync

thank you.

p.s. warning to those that would like to buy the cheap BTCD at Craptsy : you will not be able to widthraw your coins. confirmed by support there that there is problem with BTCD

5) download and replace your peers.dat with the following: https://yadi.sk/d/kN7-KnNsewy45

Thank you very much.

Don't forget to customize the user and pass at the begining of these lines as it can be seen in:
rpcuser=customizeduser
rpcpassword=customizedpassverydifficult

I had the wallet running very smoothy on an older mac but the computer died. I now need to install a new BTCD wallet on a newer mac and having trouble syncing.

I did not see in OP about changing peers.dat file but came across this link. Any concern with replacing peers.dat file noted in the quote above? Last thing I want to do is install any malware. Otherwise, any advice on getting the BTCDd running on the new mac?

edit - I am not using rpcuser or rpcpassword in my BitcoinDark.conf file. Are these lines required?
