it looks cleaner and has live price updates which is always a cool feature. i don't know if their listing and detail policy will be better than CMC but i hope so.

i would be kinda sad if the forum had a flashy redesign. i really don't care how it looks. all i want is for it to impart information in an efficient and clean manner. the form it's in now does a great job of that.

I think the main thing to take away from this is that the legal business is still pretty clueless about how to classify crypto. the judge is saying because this piece of crap in the case has some similarities to bitcoin all of them are commodities so the CTFC has jurisdiction over everything.

it doesn't make a bunch of sense to me.

that's one leap too far for any nation state. for many the attraction is an increase in control. taking up bitcoin would be the exact opposite of what they want to achieve.

this sounds like a bit of a skeevy project overall. some ICO assholes are taking half of the money raised, not that I've ever understood why any national currency ever needed one anyway.

i can't say i'm too surprised at this move. it's one thing if somewhere relatively substantial tries it, it's a whole other thing if somewhere tiny and easily cowed tries this move. the IMF, or rather the banks behind them, is basically threatening them by reminding them of their dependence on foreign intervention when things go wrong.

it is totally clear that these exchanges are incompetent. why would any insurer touch them with a ten foot pole? if they're insured they'll probably become even more reckless.

i guess they'll have to satisfy alot of conditions to obtain insurance like this. i also guess they won't bother sticking to them and get raped doubly, once because of the hack and second when the insurer laughs in their face when they want their laziness and idiocy bailed out.

I would like to know the proportion of people on exchanges looking to trade versus actually exchanging coins and leaving, the latter is probably gonna be a much smaller number.

because of that I don't see how decentralized exchanges will take over the world. traders want order books and instant executions and so far only centralization can deliver that.

no one should be surprised at anything exchanges get up to. they're an almost infinite source of questionable behavior and in many places no one knows or cares enough about them to stop it.

uh, yeah. that's why it's the most promising area to work and develop in. it still needs to be refined and the potential has been barely tapped. we don't know where it could end up but it could be world changing.

nah. as soon as things turn around again, and they will eventually, all will be forgiven, all will be forgotten and no one will care about the people who threw money at junk that is clearly worthless.

that's got to offer the most numerous and interesting possibilities that weren't available before. it also is one of those things that's going to require a lot of development before people realise the potential it harbors.

does it need any? will there be a unifying characteristic that leaves certain coins standing where others have fallen?

i'm going to say that the less centralization there is, the greater the chance a coin has of living to fight another day.

a prime example of this is doge. it's been around for what feels like forever. no one's really in control of it. it wasn't created for the specific reason of lining the pockets of a small bunch of assholes. it's just overtaken zcash, the coin put together a bunch of geniuses, on coinmarketcap.

similarly unless it gets its act together litecoin will come out of it alot stronger than BCH for very similar reasons.

we'll know when crypto has truly arrived when the idea of advertising for a blockchain specialist is as weird as recruiting an email specialist.

going on the caliber of most people out there I would not trust them to program my coffee machine let alone my company's smart contract. and when the tools available are as complicated and potentially dangerous as ETH I wouldn't bother getting started in the first place.

we need something the average five year old can program in a totally bulletproof manner.

I would never recommend anything to anyone, but if someone had told me they were thinking of it and demanded an answer from me I would tell them to only do it when they were convinced it was a suicidal idea.

I know perfectly well they'd ignore me and only buy at the absolute peak which is why I refuse to get involved.
