Here is the Class Action Lawsuit .
Mirror link

These individuals/corporations are getting sued:
Code:
BITCONNECT INTERNATIONAL PLC, a foreign corporation;
BITCONNECT LTD., a foreign corporation;
BITCONNECT TRADING LTD., a foreign corporation;
GLENN ARCARO, an individual;
TREVON BROWN a/k/a TREVON JAMES, an individual;
RYAN HILDRETH, an individual;
CRAIG GRANT, an individual;
JOHN DOE NO. 1 a/k/a CRYPTONICK, an individual;
and JOHN DOE NOS. 2-10, individuals;
Defendants.

They are going after the BitConnect and their top promoters.
The case is still under investigation, so I guess we will hear more about it in the news and more people will join the class action.

cool. thanks for the info.

what is the track record with prosecutions for stuff like this in the past? how was malicious intent proven? ponzis seem to be relatively rare outside the third world, but crypto certainly has helped them make a comeback.
622  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-03-03] North Korea Obtained 11,000 bitcoins in 2017, Expert Says on: March 03, 2018, 03:49:27 PM
so they've obtained these coins to circumvent the banking restrictions they're under. but they're stuck with something that's just as banking dependent as anything else. presumably they must have a huge amount of rat holes around the world to launder it through but it leaves them just as vulnerable to being shut down as anything else.

we're a long way away from bitcoin itself being a closed loop. they may as well stick to smuggling heroin and crystal meth in their diplomatic bags.

and is there any proof at all that they're mining? surely they have better things to do with their tiny amount of electricity.
623  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Finally, BitConnect Lawsuit has Begun! on: March 03, 2018, 03:37:26 PM
i can't find any details about this lawsuit. what exactly are they trying to prosecute and why are they going after youtube nobodies rather than the pricks who actually created and ran bitconnect? they're the ones who have vast amounts of other people's money.

it's conceivable a court might believe these guys when they thought it was the real deal, though clearly it wasn't. the same can't be said for the operators of the actual ponzi. who are they and what's being done about them?
624  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Any exchange/website to withdraw fiat? on: March 03, 2018, 03:14:56 PM
unless you tell us what country you're in you won't get any worthwhile answers. one country might be heaving with options while the one next door would be useless.

regardless of where you're at, you're gonna have to get used to some sort of ID verification. even localbitcoins traders seem to want it more often than not these days. it comes with the territory when you're dealing with fiat.
625  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: A legal solution for bitcoin. (Max 5 computers per person to mine bitcoins) on: March 03, 2018, 02:59:49 PM
ridiculous.

we live in a world made up of countries. these countries are in competition with each other. if there's money to be made scalping a law made by another country then you can bet they'll do it.

until laws are applied globally nothing will work. money will go where the incentives encourage them to go.

as for bitcoin's electricity usage, maybe it will be a significant driver in pushing renewables forward. and if the local power company finds themselves shutting off life support machines then the mining farms get shut down first. it's not hard to do. the mining farms then go somewhere with an excess of electricity.
626  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Will SegWit be enough to reduce fees? on: March 03, 2018, 02:50:10 PM
The fees problem was greatly caused by exchanges like coinbase and gemini, but they seem to be finally correcting the problem by adoptiing segwit and batching their transactions. So for the time being, I think we will have no problems with fees.

gemini has always been tiny so they wouldn't have any effect. they've also never batched and don't appear to be planning to and i haven't seen any mention of segwit from them.

coinbase doing segwit is cool, but them batching would be the single biggest reduction in blockchain load. again, i haven't seen them say anything about implementing this. this is bizarre as they must be throwing away huge amounts on gdax withdraws.

segwit is a step in the right direction. it's not the magic bullet. better use of the blockchain by the major polluters would help the most.
627  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Which has best debit/credit card? on: March 03, 2018, 02:31:14 PM
I opened an account with them and it took 2 weeks to verify my account ... then I asked for the card and it arrived in 4 days in my country by DHL. It was very fast. then added funds to the card which took 12 days... I went to the ATM and the card worked without problems.

so the card works

i don't care if the card eventually works, waiting that long for loading is 100% unacceptable to me. at what stage do they fix the exchange rate?

you're right in that it's the only option for many people around the world now. i for one would prefer to wait for something more usable than that. those timings tell me that wagecan is doing something manually and out of the ordinary. i'm not confident it would last.

i guess it's possible crypto visa cards will never return for europe and elsewhere. it would be a shame if that was the case but people should prepare for it. americans are still fine.
628  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prediction: Bitcoin will hit 100K on: March 03, 2018, 02:24:32 PM
$100,000 that's impossible to happen, some of us were happy if bitcoin reach that price because we gain profit but we forgot the fee how much will we pay if that happen and I don't use bitcoin anymore because of that fee. Remember in last year bitcoin was reach $19,000 and the fee was around $20+ that's too high for me so if bitcoin reach $100,000 then the fee we pay is around $100+.

man, i'm bored of posts like this. $100,000 is completely possible. no one cares whether you can afford the fees or not.

the whole infrastructure still is not very good. there's still no way mom and pop can easily put in money through a broker. there's not enough regulatory certainty. that all points to explosive growth still

$10,000 used to be the 'no way' figure not that long ago at all. now we're over it and bitcoin is looking boring. adjust your expectations or get left behind.

629  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Callisto airdrop - bittrex exchange is lying on: March 03, 2018, 02:16:24 PM
bittrex have done the decent thing and given people enough time to withdraw their coins. i don't really see what the issue is here. when it comes to forks i wouldn't be inclined to believe anything a third party tells me they're gonna do. control your own coins and you're set.
630  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: March 03, 2018, 02:13:00 PM
BTC и BCH are two sides of the same coin. Their relationship is obvious.

yep. bch is doing all it can to fool bitcoin users into throwing money at it. i wonder where it would be if all of the tactics used had been above board. alot of players in this space have given off a very bad smell because of this so at least we have bch to thank for that.
631  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: February 26, 2018, 11:12:13 PM
we need binance listing

From what I've heard binance listings cost the applicants big money. They also will only accept applications from members of the core team which means Mr Ch which means it ain't happening ever.

Do we know how much it will cost? Given that there are bytes which have still not been distributed, it might be a worthwhile exercise using some of those to get the coin listed on Binance.
I doubt if they will remain fixated on asking some member of the core team to apply to get the coin listed. If Byteball becomes big, it might be in Binance's interest to get it listed, with or without Tony asking them to.

First you gotta rig the vote which means buying binance coins to vote with. Then I've heard of figures in the hundreds of thousands of dollars on top but maybe that's from butthurt failures.

It absolutely will always have to be the core team who applies. Exchanges will have technical questions that only they can answer so an ongoing relationship will have to be there from the start. they'd get every moonkid asshole applying otherwise.

I don't think it's gonna happen with byteball.
632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Venezuela is about to launch a free cryptocurrency course for every citizen! on: February 26, 2018, 10:24:47 PM
If only it were the work of a country that was forward thinking and dynamic, not the last wheeze of a dinosaur.

I hope this leads to a better life for the people of Venezuela but more likely it's intended to prop up the regime that's screwed them so hard.

Fingers crossed anyway.
633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Cardano (ADA) overvalued or undervalued? on: February 25, 2018, 11:41:09 PM
Compared to the other crap out there? Probably neither which is just how insulting the alt market has become. This will be rolled out as a prime example of crypto insanity in the years to come.

Maybe it'll deliver big time in an amazing manner some day. That still doesn't stop the current situation from being a sickening joke.
634  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 🔥New Bitcoin Hard Fork coming soon. How do I get it? on: February 25, 2018, 11:07:38 PM
First you need control of your private keys. That means no exchanges. A paper wallet will be easier than a hardware wallet too because it's one private key.

When there's a bitcoin private wallet you import your bitcoin private key into it if it had bitcoin on it at the moment it forked. Only do this after you've sent the bitcoin out of the address.

Depending on how competent the developers are you might be in for a long wait if they don't get a network running.

The alternative is to deposit bitcoin on an exchange that says they'll list it which means you'll be trading futures effectively. That gives you more chance of selling during a pump but you have to trust the exchange.
635  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I earned $ 3500 from the 1 airdrop on: February 25, 2018, 10:35:42 PM
So far selling airdrops appear to need to be timed carefully and you should not get sentimental about them either. In future I'll never put any money into airdropped coins until the airdropping is long over. That's when you get a sense of its actual worth. Until then their markets are unacceptably warped by the airdrops and you really have no idea where you truly stand.

It's gonna be very interesting to see where some of these more obscure bitcoin forks end up. Some of them must have a circulating supply 1000 times lower than bitcoin. There's some insane pump fodder in there but no way of telling which they're gonna be.
636  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pizza day with Lightning network on: February 25, 2018, 10:28:34 PM
Laszlo is the Man! ...I think most people would have curled into a little ball and faded away, if something like that happened

to them, but Laszlo just took it on the chin and moved on with his life. By the looks of the pictures, he looks happy and his

house looks nice. {They guy is obviously not stupid, like most people think... when they hear about this story}  Wink

He was the initiator of GPU mining. You think he really spent every last coin on that pizza? I'll guess he had a few tens of thousands more at that point and might still have most of them for all we know.
637  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why has difficulty increased so much in the last 4 months ? on: February 25, 2018, 10:20:15 PM
And after this what are You thoughts about the future mechanism of confirmftion Bitcoin transactions?
Do You think it will be changed from PoW to PoS in future?

Bitcoin will never manage a change of that magnitude. The only time it might is when there's an irrefutable existential threat like the cracking of its encryption or bitmain being taken over by the Chinese government.

Look how hard it's been to get a tiny capacity increase. I also don't think ethereum''s attempt to go pos will ever happen and if it does it'll be seriously messy. That's far more centralised than bitcoin with one guy who everyone will listen to.

There'll be mining for another 120 years. Who knows what the mining will look like but proof of work is staying unless something undeniably superior in every way arrives. Even then it may not be taken up.

639  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why has difficulty increased so much in the last 4 months ? on: February 25, 2018, 09:14:04 PM
Of course it's just mining power increasing. It literally cannot be anything else.

Check the amount of money circulating these days. It's estimated bitmain made several billion dollars last year. Now Samsung are making mining chips plus GMO in Japan might be coming up with more efficient chips.

But even if mining doesn't advance and no more machines are added you know difficultly goes down, right? Mining will always, always be profitable for someone somewhere.
640  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pizza day with Lightning network on: February 25, 2018, 05:27:28 PM
Is the Lightning network out of beta? Last I hear it was still in beta phase and testing was going on.
I want to buy using lightning network too  Grin

Is it even beta? All I'm seeing is developers pleading with people to stop using it with real coins which tells us plenty about its state of readiness. I'm all for ploughing on but I hope it doesn't harm its rep if things keep going wrong at this stage.

Is someone keeping a list of mainnet lightning disasters?
