1061  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: November 30, 2017, 01:16:06 AM
Now, now...Bitcoin now passed the ten thousand dollars mark. What do you think would be the consequence of this for Bitcoin cash, being the closest competitor of Bitcoin? Surely there must be grandiose plans for this coin to make the value more higher.

it's not the closest competitor. it's supposed to be the replacement. some people would say ethereum is the closest competitor but even the ethereum devs would tell you that they're not in competition. they're different things with different purposes.

let's see what happens but beyond pump and dumps i think this coin's chance has passed. it's always gonna be around and there'll be many a spike but it's not bitcoin.
1062  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to get girls when you're not handsome? on: November 30, 2017, 12:42:36 AM
learn some pickup and NLP techniques.

Does that really work ?

the type of woman that crap would work on is not the type worth knowing. and i'm sure most women are wise to it now.
1063  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Beware from Xapo !!! on: November 29, 2017, 11:45:23 PM
Xapo as far as I now are legit, but their customer service is pile of garbage.
It's normal for your email to not receive any response for weeks, mine were responded within a month, that was the last time I used their service.
There must be a reason for them to block your accounts, try to send their agents an email everyday, if you're lucky they will saw it and respond to your ticket.

weird. i had an enquiry the other day and got an email back within ten hours answering my question.

op, are you fully verified there? if you're not then that's gonna be the cause of most problems.

and they're not in argentina, they're incorporated in hong kong, have an office in california and i think their super cold stored coins are located in switzerland.

you could try twitter.
1064  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Am I the only one this unlucky during my entry into investments and crypto? on: November 29, 2017, 11:38:06 PM
it's casino and every single thing out there is stacked against the little guy. if it isn't developers themselves, it's pump and dumpers, if it ain't them it's the exchanges and last but most it's your own panicky mindset.

it's pretty incredible how many people here run straight into day trading when they don't have a clue about what you really need to be a success at it. the best you can do is find a coin you believe in, set a price that you'll sell at and wait. even then that's a big ass bet.
1065  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How big of a role does privacy play? on: November 29, 2017, 11:20:29 PM
i don't really care myself. i don't spend it on anything weird or incriminating. anyone who does want to cut the link between their id and their known addresses can go and mix it and start over.

if i was a business, gambler or pervert then it might be a different matter.
1066  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All MAJOR exchanges are down!! What is going on?? on: November 29, 2017, 11:03:25 PM
the day bitcoin reaches five figures, interest has been exploding for months, the price moves thousands in one 24 hour period, and people are blaming government hacks?

don't be ridiculous. it was good old fomo and unprecedented demand for capacity. accommodating this level of interest is gonna be on a whole new level.
1067  Economy / Speculation / Re: will bitcoin price will move up to 20000$ in 2018 on: November 29, 2017, 10:53:32 PM
i think it kinda depends on how this current bubble is digested. it could get ugly, get sideways or it could be a pause on the way to something higher.

as it went from 10 grand to 11.5 in a few hours, anything is possible.
1068  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The end of BitConnect on: November 29, 2017, 01:28:43 PM
how could anyone resist a coin that comes out with this stuff?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SerREQ93g_I

i'm struggling to find the right words after watching that.

All the fun would be at r/bitcoin instead.  Smiley

so everyone there has made the big swap completely?

i'm gonna bet that hardly anyone has but they're not willing to admit it. any excitement is getting erased.
1070  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: November 29, 2017, 02:11:40 AM
on the front page of r/btc there are a grand total of two threads about, y'know, bitcoin reaching five figures.

they have attracted a grand total of five comments between them.

why no fun there?
1071  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: November 29, 2017, 12:59:57 AM
BCH is diving, not sure if it's a buy or wait for more drop. Not much cash in exchange now anyway. Tongue

and anything that ain't a bitcoin fork is green as the amazon. pretty interesting behavior. i wonder if it's gonna continue like that forever.
1072  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The end of BitConnect on: November 28, 2017, 07:21:30 PM
The problem here is that it is being shilled by well-known cryptotraders in Youtube and they are getting more users because of it.

then those guys are setting their credibility on fire and will pay for it down the line. it's hard to have any sympathy for anyone who chooses to get involved with this. it's quite clear what it is with a few seconds of googling.
1073  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk is Satoshi Nakamoto on: November 28, 2017, 04:43:56 PM
Just as he tweeted he is not Satoshi Nakamoto. Just compare PayPal (where he has been working for some time). His working style is completely different from Nakamoto's. Also BTC can't be called a "green" technology so it can't be so populistic as Elon Musk usualy do.

The very early plans for PayPal were actually eerily similar to bitcoin's aims. They got bogged down by the usual banking, business and regulation stuff. I don't know if that was before his time.
1074  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do you see alts have chances against Bitcoins? on: November 28, 2017, 04:41:17 PM
Really interesting to see what alts do if bitcoin ascends to the next level.

People expecting alts to automatically do the same are delusional.

They can't continue moving in step swinging back and forth for eternity.

At some point they diverge for good.
1075  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 28, 2017, 12:55:23 PM
the east has gotten over this hump and is flying away upwards. i wonder how big the gap is gonna be before it snaps shut? it could get ridiculously huge until the dollarites get over themselves.
1076  Economy / Economics / Re: One Bitcoin, $10,000. Ten Thousand Dollars. on: November 28, 2017, 12:25:45 PM
You're one of thousands hoping for this which means there's a good chance for it once it starts to tip! Maybe we'll see a last gasp blip to 10.5k before the retrace/profit taking.. otherwise it's onward to 12k

the more people are expecting and banking on something the more likely it's going to be used against them by the people in real control of the market.
1077  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The end of BitConnect on: November 28, 2017, 12:21:47 PM
it's clearly a ponzi that will die soon enough but bitconnect expiring won't have any effect on the rest of the market.

what volume there is takes place on their own exchange that they have control over. there's a little bit of volume elsewhere on exchanges no one's ever heard of.

it's a separate little 'market' that'll go down the toilet on its own. no one else will care.

the only conceivable effect is that the people operating it will have a huge amount of bitcoin but it's not as if they'll insta dump and one player no longer has an effect.
1078  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 10k BTC! (Job is going bye bye...giving notice) :) ie MY SHIP CAME IN! Take Poll on: November 28, 2017, 11:23:46 AM
i quit my wageslave job in february and I'm so bored.  i traveled and did a bunch of stuff i thought would be cool, but it gets old fast.  i want to go back to work.

any old work? why? there's a million more interesting things to do. if it's interesting work then i can see why someone would miss it but not slavery.

it's gonna have to be an awful lot higher for it to make the difference i'd want to my life so it's business as usual for me.
1079  Economy / Economics / Re: One Bitcoin, $10,000. Ten Thousand Dollars. on: November 28, 2017, 11:18:06 AM
why no mention of one million yen? that happened a couple of days ago and that's a bigger barrier than this. it seemed to happen with little or no argument either. it spent a few hours below and then carried on through.
1080  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin need to be taxed? on: November 27, 2017, 02:54:25 PM
why are you so sure in this?

why would any country turn down tax?

bitcoin might have a free pass in certain countries because they haven't bothered to devote any real effort to it. once they do they're likely to categorise it so it can be taxed. that's what governments do.

if they don't then you live in a great country.
