1  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTB] Kialara, Goddess, Satori, Etc. on: May 25, 2022, 08:41:37 PM

I appreciate you taking the time to bring this to my attention. Unfortunately, I've already noticed this auction and decided that if a roll is going for 0.065BTC+ then I'm going to have to resort to purchasing individual chips for now.
2  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTB] Kialara, Goddess, Satori, Etc. on: May 25, 2022, 08:25:22 PM
OP has been updated to reflect what I'm looking for more concisely - It's a shame I couldn't win that recent Kialara auction, but we'll get 'em next time!

Thank you to everyone that has reached out so far, and thank you to the couple people that I've been able to make deals with.

i have the papersafe marble paperweight autographed by the team only 1 in the world if your interested

That is certainly interesting, but I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay you what it is worth or what you'd be happy to receive for it.

Recently got my hands on a Samsara and a set of daybreak coins - so, if anybody has a goddess coin they might be willing to part with that would be perfect to complete the set.

For Kialaras, I'm most keen on getting an "Original" design or a "Hydra" design.

Still on the hunt for suggestions, as well - thanks for everyone that's reached out so far. I have updated OP.

That 1hodlclub coin might be too rich for my blood at the moment, unfortunately.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I appreciate the discount for the forum members that you're offering, so thank you for that.

I sent you a PM early yesterday, but I would like to grab a 2018 Silver Single and a 2021 Copper Short-Roll.

I'll send payment when you confirm if these are still available!
7  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Gate.io shaddy activity on: May 18, 2022, 01:13:18 PM
The thing is, do we know for sure this didn't happen?

I have no way of knowing whether or not this was actually the case; I was just speaking more broadly, that if there was no banner, then there should have been one.

I refuse to believe that Gate.io did not put out any warnings on the deposit page or even totally disable generating the deposit address as most exchange do once they announce that deposits have been suspended.

This is the same guy have the same issue with phemex too. I don't think it's a coincidence.

Any self-respecting entity would put up a message about services being temporarily suspended, maintenance messages have become a standard nearly everywhere and in every industry. I'm hoping that lotfiuser is just mistaken, and that this isn't another exchange operating beyond poorly. I still stand by my statement about avoiding exchanges like the plague, though.

If this user is having this problem with multiple exchanges and nobody else is having these issues with either exchange, then it's probably safe to say that it is a user issue.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kwik Trip To Install 800 New Bitcoin ATM on: May 18, 2022, 12:28:19 PM
I've always been conflicted about Bitcoin ATMs.

There are a million negatives that pop into my head, but I'm hoping that's just a bias that I've picked up throughout my life experiences.

  • My worry would be that anybody using these ATMs would be a target; either for a robbery on the spot or for a long-term casing and burglary.

I haven't ever personally used a Bitcoin ATM, but I've come across them occasionally and always wonder how secure they are.

  • When you use your credit card there is already a risk of credit card skimmers, which will still be a consideration; Any KYC Documents that are required by a Bitcoin ATM would also be subject to the same type of skimming.

Then you add the 11% fees on top of it and any software bugs that might result in you not receiving your coin or it being an unfavorable exchange rate.

The convenience of being able to exchange Bitcoin at an ATM, to me, is outweighed by the inconvenience of not being able to use the Bitcoin to purchase anything at the store the ATM is housed inside.

People have gotten used to $4 ATM fees to pull out $40 in cash so this is really not that much worse for smaller transactions.

I'd be willing to bet that if there was more of a customer-base, we would see Bitcoin ATMs transition to a flat fee like most USD ATMs.
9  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Gate.io shaddy activity on: May 18, 2022, 11:45:11 AM
While the title of your topic might be subjectively true, it is going to be extremely difficult for you to prove the claim within your first post, even if you're right.

It sounds like this would be a good example for why exchanges going forward should be more transparent and active when it comes to trading or deposit suspension. If I were running an exchange, that sort of information would be displayed where it is most important; if deposits are being suspended, then that should be glaringly obvious where the user would go to deposit their funds and it should be displayed as a notice as far in advance as possible.

I still stand by the idea that we should all avoid putting any coins on an exchange for any amount of time as much as possible.
10  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ThatsMod user scammer on: May 17, 2022, 06:41:11 PM
When you are presenting a scam accusation such as this there are certain procedures to follow if you expect to get any traction or attention around here.

You can find guidelines and a template here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=260073.0

Something like this is difficult to parse through, because the PM they sent you was very undescriptive. "Being in Contact on Telegram" doesn't help me confirm that this particular user that you produced messages with is the same person; additionally I don't see any dates on the messages or the PM verification.

It would be easier to navigate this accusation if you provided direct links to the accused profile, and transaction IDs/Addresses. I highly suggest only dealing with an escrow, unless there is extraordinary circumstances. More information on escrow guidelines can be found here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=133931.0

Unless you can provide more proof or something more compelling I'm not sure that you will get the desired outcome from this thread.
11  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [INTEREST/AUCTION] Magic The Gathering (MTG) Cards ~3000 on: May 17, 2022, 04:59:31 PM
I would have interest in participating in an auction for some magic cards; I used to play as a kid, but never really had any cards of my own.

It would surprise me if there wasn't others with a similar interest around here.
12  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Biggest Loser Raffle] 1oz .999 Silver Bitcoin Binary Round on: May 15, 2022, 05:27:18 AM
b- bill gator

How’d he know?  Huh

It's this feeling I get and I've learned to trust it throughout my life - Bitcoin is actually the thing that taught me to trust my instincts, even if I missed the rocket, because we were right and everyone that argued with me about how bitcoin would never be higher than $100 during my lifetime was wrong.

Then the stars have aligned and I am guaranteed to win this. Thanks for playing everyone. Chris did the rain dance for me, now I am confident in my slot.

Note to self, never enter a raffle that Bill is entered in!!!

You can enter raffles that I have entered in, just ask me if I'm going to win; I don't always get that special feeling.

I don't always win raffles, but when I get that feeling - I'm going to win. Here is another example of this happening awhile back, and I'm sure there is at least one more example of this somewhere.

There's no examples of me predicting a win and losing, though. Tongue

Thank you for hosting the raffle OG and thanks for buying me a nice new coin, PreciousMetapsICT; it's been fun.
13  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Biggest Loser Raffle] 1oz .999 Silver Bitcoin Binary Round on: May 13, 2022, 08:16:59 PM
We're currently working on block #736249, so to be funny let's use block #736269 to select the loser and block #736272 as the winner (to create some suspense).

Quoting for reference, in case anybody suspects OG is running a rigged raffle.

Good luck to all of our participants, and a pre-emptive thank you to whoever is paying for my new shiny collectible!

Current block: 736253
14  Economy / Collectibles / Re: For SALE [ Moonbits and HoldClub ] Póker chips on: May 13, 2022, 04:35:55 PM
That makes sense, I appreciate you clarifying so that I don't feel like I'm losing my mind.

Are you willing to continue selling individuals or would you prefer the rest be sold as a lot?

If I could make a request, maybe set one aside for a raffle - I'd be willing to bet that a $600 price tag is too high for a lot of interested parties. Maybe a raffle might be a fun way to sell one, and I'd certainly buy a reasonably priced ticket (or two).
15  Economy / Collectibles / Re: For SALE [ Moonbits and HoldClub ] Póker chips on: May 13, 2022, 04:22:02 PM
Do you know what you're looking to get for these or just fielding offers?

Call me crazy, but I swear there was a previous statement about trying to sell as a lot for $1,100 or 0.03619 BTC at the time I am writing this.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd say that's probably a good place to start.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible to know amount of live full-nodes running? on: May 13, 2022, 01:06:04 PM
The answer to your question requires a bit more specificity in the wording, or at least some definitions given for a few of the words.

There are websites that I've come across in the past, that gives numbers like this -

which will tell you the amount of "Reachable Nodes". I noticed in your question that you specified "full" nodes, which would indicate that not all active and reachable nodes would fit under the umbrella of your question.

So, my formal answer is that your question begs more questions.
17  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [CHARITY DONATION RAFFLE] Dr. Bitcoin Penny in the Multi-Coin of Madness on: May 12, 2022, 03:36:41 AM
I’m not sure if there are any free slots left, but either way you can sign me up for 1 slot.

Thank you for hosting another great raffle!
18  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Biggest Loser Raffle] 1oz .999 Silver Bitcoin Binary Round on: May 12, 2022, 03:32:45 AM
I can only speak for myself, but I would have no problem with you paying for me to get a new shiny coin in my collection.

If you’re thinking of rebranding, you could go a million different avenues so it’s hard to suggest which way to go; maybe call it a “Mostly Free” Raffle or “15-Winner Raffle” because getting your raffle ticket paid for is definitely a win.
19  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitrefill creates SaveTheBankers on: May 11, 2022, 05:34:24 PM
We want to stress that despite any humorous undertones you may detect, both the donation request and the intention to give it to bankers are actual features of this campaign.

It's interesting to me that they made this disclaimer, because it provokes more questions than it answers for me.

Are their goals and their intentions aligned?

I am having trouble understanding how many layers there actually are to this joke.
20  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Medical Doctor looking to advise/consult/assist on: May 11, 2022, 01:00:49 PM
Current estimates put the amount of data generated by each patient to be around 80 megabytes per patient per year.

Any idea how efficiently patient-data is currently generated and stored?  If I had to guess, it is probably extremely archaic and inefficient because storage space has never needed to be a priority.

If we were to put this data on a blockchain, it is entirely possible that we could come up with a more efficient way to transmit and store the data than what is currently being used. Once you have storage space as a real consideration, like in our decentralized example, then there is a lot more incentive to improve.
