I would use the card to pay for everyday things, coffee, groceries, etc. This would eliminate the step of selling the coins first. I was thinking about this today and searched the forum and found this.  |

In order to maximize hashrates we would need to know how much free power you have? You say limited, how limited would determine what miners you could run. How many amps available? 120v or 240v?

The OP asked if Bitcoin mining is profitable. I'm not sure why so many people mentioned cloud mining, that is not Bitcoin mining, it is investment with a company that is mining Bitcoin. And more often than not a bad investment.
But, to answer the original question:
It depends. There are many variables that go into that equation.
For Bitcoin mining at home, the primary variable is cost of electricity.
First answer that and then go from there.

I think most people are going to tell you what has already been said in the last couple posts, there are more variables to determine what is the "best" for you.
The fastest most efficient available right now is the Bitmain Antminer S9.
But that does not mean that it is the best for everyone.

I have separated out the Block Notification section and that part should be running every minute, which should translate to faster block notifications. The regular hashrate part runs every 15 minutes. This should reduce the load on the site. Let me know if anyone has any issues. |

That is what I am doing right now. My electricity cost is too high and my S3's are losing money.
But, with what they do make to offset the electric bill, it is cheaper than heating my house any other way.

True, with only the one S3 he would be really close to dust.
But, he mentioned getting more miners so....
I had never tried mmpool before so i rearranged some of my rigs and have roughly 3.4 TH/s pointed there now.
