102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: (Medium Priority) this transaction has a very small output and is non standard on: October 25, 2015, 01:30:14 PM
The reference client do not relay transactions with dust. Dust is defined as transactions which has outputs less than 2730satoshis. Which fits one of your outputs. This would result in miner having less probability of seeing and including your transactions and not accepting it if they accept dust transactions.
103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 21 Inc is relaying new blocks on: October 25, 2015, 01:22:47 PM
I doubt that they are generating blocks solely on those small low powered chips. Blockchain.info only displays the IP/Pool that first relays the blocks and it doesn't mean that they mined it. However, there is over 1000 blocks identified as 21inc's.

Theres a probability that they have a small farm or people are using the machine to mine for BTC. Device operates with their pooled mining so its possible/
104  Economy / Gambling / Re: Dice Investing on: October 25, 2015, 12:47:51 PM
Unknown site with small bankroll would expose you to the risk of the owner running away or cheating your money if not, the profit would be bigger and losses would be bigger. With a bigger site, the profit and loss would be smaller and the risk is much lower. I would opt for investment in moneypot as they seem pretty trustable.

106  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Start a Gambling Site on: October 25, 2015, 11:10:18 AM
It is hard to justify any VPN as being anonymous. There is no way to ensure that they do not keep any connection logs and any logs can be seen if the servers gets compromised, whether they delete it or not.

If the VPN provider keeps the user IP address, then the user is not safe. The user may have to use a public wifi to access, however, the user has to register to use the wifi by providing a phone number of receive activation code.
Use your neighbour's wifi. You can also try to daisychain various VPN/Proxys/Tor nodes to ensure that it is hard to track the origin. The security would not be compromised whatsoever but it is not guaranteed to conceal your identity 100% too.
107  Economy / Gambling / Re: What's a good strategy for playing dice? on: October 25, 2015, 11:06:46 AM
There is no strategy that is guaranteed to work in the long term or short term. The house would always win in the long term due to the house edge. If you do win, its due to your luck and there is no strategy to follow. It is only possible to gain profit if the casino has positive EV aka. negative house edge.
108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is a BIP38 secured paper wallet safe? on: October 25, 2015, 09:03:31 AM
I am just a bit paranoid about everything, when it comes to storing large amounts of money... So I salvaged a old computer from old parts and I downloaded the whole bitaddress.org

site to that computer and disconnected it permanently. I then created loads of encrypted and BIP38 secured paper wallets and physically destroyed the computer with a hammer.

It was worth like $10 if I tried to sell it, but it's worth the total amount of coins I stored on these paper wallets, if someone managed to retrieve any information from the firmware

or harddrive or where ever they get this information from. I should say it 100% safe, if you never go online with the device you created those paper wallets on. Just keep them dry

and locked up and also in a fire protected area.  Wink
Any existing virus could have affected the generation of your address and it should have been wiped first. The HDD can easily be wiped thoroughly by using an application that writes random bytes to it for example.
109  Other / Meta / Re: bitcoin-forums.net ? is it a replica of BCT . on: October 25, 2015, 06:45:13 AM
It acts as a mirror of this site, displaying all the posts here to their site. The website would then appear with Bitcointalk.org when someone searches for it. If people does click on it, they can generate ad revenue or they can just be a phishing site. It is not official so I would recommend against going to any of those sites.
110  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin 'real money' to you? on: October 25, 2015, 06:42:52 AM
In my opinion, Bitcoin is a 'real money' that is secured by cryptography and can be used as a method of payment, just like PayPal. It is verifiable and transparent which would ensure that the coins are existent, just like how fiat have security features on them.
111  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Unconfirmed transaction on: October 25, 2015, 06:38:38 AM

Thats a very low fee. I did one with similar fee and it took 1 week to confirm. The transactions being cancelled and returned in 48hours... i never seen that happen. But yeah this is probably going to take a while.

Thanks man, this answers my question.
Well it looks like I will not be getting my coins anytime soon. Sad
Now I regret borrowing those coins. I need those to purchase something and it looks like I will not make use of it if it'll take a week.
Btw, the rejection, does that really works or not? Never heard of that happened before.. Sad

Transactions never get rejected. They can get dropped from the mempool and it would be the same as if the transaction has never been initiated before. It depends on your client policy. Some clients continuously rebroadcast the transactions and it would never get dropped. If you control the private key of the output addresses, try using CPFP and hope that Eligius would accept your transaction.
112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin wallet? on: October 25, 2015, 06:32:31 AM
So downloadable wallets is more safe than for example blockchain.info?
Not necessarily. Even though most wallets are open sourced, some can have vulnerabilities which can expose the user's funds to hackers. One example is the poor implementation of RNG, resulting in a predictable private key. Some online wallets allow users to control their private key and it would be relatively safe unless they change the script. In this case, Blockchain.info is definitely not safe at all.
113  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin and Porn on: October 25, 2015, 06:30:54 AM
I wonder how would these site operators able to know whether a visitor is a minor or not, also if bitcoins is an accepted form of payment, that would make it much harder for them to know if a visitor is under 18 or is already in legal age.
But some porn site still need verification like passport or anything, even if you pay with bitcoin. Tongue
And unfortunately passport or id card or anything we can get easy in internet. Cheesy
So I think porn site to add more verification system, but maybe they income can diminish.
Mind to name which ones? I haven't heard of any that requires that. They don't have any reason to implement such things, it would only scare customers off and complicate things. To be legal, they only need to put a disclaimer that it is illegal to watch pornography under 18.
114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN IS BETTER THAN WESTERN UNION ? on: October 25, 2015, 06:28:29 AM
For me, it's only because Western Union charges a huge fee for all transactions and they convert the currency and send it unlike Bitcoins which usually have no fee attached to the transactions and at times, the fee is less than $0.5 which is affordable. For my country, WU transfers are not allowed which is damn frustrating and I can only receive money via WU and not send. Bitcoins can be sent anywhere and everywhere irrespective of the country of the receiver.

Bull shit over two million Americans still use dial up internet in South Africa its worse the only connection to the outside world for most people is threw a $25 flip phone.
You can't run bitcoin on a $25 flip phone you have to use 3rd party services that charge a arm and a leg. The system building up around bitcoin is bleeding us dry.
You can easily use an online wallet to manage your funds. You don't necessarily need a internet connection to relay transactions, you can give it to the receiver to broadcast it him/herself even though there can be risks.
115  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Start a Gambling Site on: October 25, 2015, 06:25:46 AM
Even with security it is still possible to find out who is at the end of the computer.  I personally wouldn't start a casino for fear of that, plus it makes you a target for your coins.  You need to hire a lot of smart people in order to have that happen, and they have to be trustworthy.

If you hide behind anonymous vpn then you will be safe and thats all you need to operate it. Also you only need to use moneypot if you fear to be a target for your coins , some gambling site cost almost nothing to host their site and use moneypot api but they are not making good enough but still good for experience to handle gambling site
It is hard to justify any VPN as being anonymous. There is no way to ensure that they do not keep any connection logs and any logs can be seen if the servers gets compromised, whether they delete it or not.
116  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dice game strategy? on: October 25, 2015, 06:21:48 AM
The less bets you make the less you will feel the house edge.
It is more of a varience, even with little house edge, people would still be experiencing huge loss streaks in the long term. However, it is still possible to experience such streaks on your first few bets.
117  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is a BIP38 secured paper wallet safe? on: October 25, 2015, 06:18:04 AM
BIP32 is safe enough as long as there isn't any other loopholes which can expose the unencrypted private key. The computer used for creating transactions should not have any viruses and the private key is generated randomly. The attacker would require your encrypted key to even try to crack it.
118  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin wallet? on: October 24, 2015, 05:12:39 PM
what about the coinbase wallet?

Coinbase, not coinbase vault or multisig is a shared wallet. This means that you do not control your private keys and it would not be assesible if they go down. However, as they are registered, the funds would be insured.
119  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin wallet? on: October 24, 2015, 03:23:36 PM
Electrum for me. It's a HD wallet and does offer the features that daily users need.
120  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My Question: Is it possible? on: October 24, 2015, 03:02:52 PM
Good Day!

I am The Fucking Duck, is it possible to create a BitCoin-based program based on SHA256 in which you can put your own SHA256 Hashes and ask miners of the network to solve those hashes and get rewards (which have to be deposited into the network before asking)
Bitcoin ASICs are only designed for Bitcoin mining and only Bitcoin mining, this means that you cannot do anything else with it. It is unlikely that any SHA256 hashes can be cracked with a bruteforce attack if the data is random. It can be cracked my dictionary attack though. Based on this,
Quote
The ASIC could aid in password cracking if:

* the hashes are generated with sha256(sha256(x))
* salt + password = 80 bytes
* the hash starts with 4 zero-bytes
